Chapter 335 Demonstrating to Her
Seeing the wary look in Susan's eyes, Elliott awkwardly scratched the back of his head and said, "Susan, everything that went down before was on me. I was a total jerk. Don't hold it against me, okay? I've learned my lesson, and trust me, it was super embarrassing!"
He pointed to his face, still sporting some bruises. Everyone at the office knew he got his butt kicked, which was pretty humiliating.
Susan didn't want to drag it out. Seb had already avenged her, so what was the point?
'Seb, why is it always about Seb?' Susan questioned herself in heart. Just thinking of him made Susan uneasy.
Whether Elliott truly got his act together or just realized she wasn't someone to mess with, she still had to work with him. No need to make things more awkward.
"Let's not dwell on the past. Let's just focus on nailing the Skyreach Group case," Susan said.
"Exactly what I was thinking!" Elliott grinned.
"If there's nothing else, I'm outta here." Susan tugged at her lips and grabbed her bag.
If it weren't for work, she wouldn't spend another second with someone like Elliott.
As she walked out of the office building, she spotted a flashy car parked at the steps.
A black Bentley with a standout license plate. Even without guess, Susan knew it was Seb's ride.
Susan stopped in her tracks.
The rear window of the Bentley rolled down, revealing Seb's stern face. He casually flicked ash from his cigarette.
Seb glanced at her, clearly noticing her.
Susan's heart raced. Why was Seb here? After the last time, what was left to say?
Could Seb have come to drop off Spring? No way. He always had someone else do that. He wouldn't bring Spring to her office without a heads-up.
'Why stress about why Seb's here? Just go ask,' Susan thought.
She took a couple of steps forward.
Then, Seb waved at her with a faint, almost invisible smile.
Susan stopped again, thinking, 'What's this supposed to mean?'
Just as she was getting annoyed, she heard the click of high heels behind her.
She turned and saw Linda, all dolled up, walking towards her.
Seeing Linda, Susan was taken aback.
Linda saw Susan and greeted her warmly, "Susan, off work?"
"Yeah," Susan replied, a bit confused.
"I've got an appointment, so I'm out," Linda said with a smile, then quickly walked past Susan.
Susan turned around and saw Linda walk straight to the black Bentley.
At that moment, Leon, who was in the driver's seat, hopped out and opened the back door for Linda. She got in, laughing and chatting, while Leon slid back into the driver's seat. The car slowly started moving.
Susan watched as Seb glanced outside, then the window rolled up, and the Bentley cruised away.
She stood there, dumbfounded for a few seconds.
Even an idiot could see Seb was trying to make a point. He wanted to show her how many women were dying to be with him. With just a wave, they'd throw themselves at him.
If Seb wanted to humiliate her or make her feel like crap, he nailed it. Susan clutched her chest, feeling a dull ache.
But Seb was being way too extra. His leg had just healed enough to walk, and he was already picking up Linda for a date. Didn't he worry about reopening his wound?
After a while, Susan felt like a fool standing there, so she left with a cold smile.
At that moment, Susan realized she and Seb were truly done. She couldn't stand other women throwing themselves at him, nor could she stand Seb being all lovey-dovey with them.
If she had been more angry than heartbroken before, now she was truly heartbroken.
Seb could be with any woman he wanted; it had nothing to do with her anymore! She wouldn't care or be sad. She'd focus on living her own life, doing her job well, taking care of her kids, and maybe even finding someone who could accept Spring and start a new relationship.
With that thought, Susan resolutely walked home, as it was about time for Spring to be dropped off.
A few days later, one morning, as Susan stepped into the floor of Pioneer Accounting Firm, she saw a delivery guy holding a bouquet of fresh red roses, calling out, "Ms. Ward, who is Ms. Ward?"
"The office at the end," a female employee pointed out.
"Thanks," the delivery guy said, quickly heading in the direction she indicated.
At that moment, several female colleagues gathered to gossip.
"This is the fourth day, right? Every morning, Linda gets a bouquet of fresh red roses, and I peeked at the card once. It's signed by a guy named Seb!"
"This Seb isn't just anyone. He's the CEO of Prosperity Group, with a super powerful family background, and he's drop-dead gorgeous!"
"No wonder Linda's been glowing and in such a good mood these past few days!"
Hearing their gossip, Susan tugged at her lips and walked into the office, not wanting to hear any more.
Sitting at her computer, Susan tried to focus on her work, but she couldn't concentrate.
She told herself, 'Seb has nothing to do with you anymore. You shouldn't listen or think about his business.'
