Chapter 996 The Gift
"Mr. Johnson, you're back?" Kathy's voice was full of surprise.
"Kathy, where's Mrs. Johnson?" Leon asked.
"Oh, she's in the bedroom," Kathy quickly replied.
"Here's a little something for you. You've been working hard," Leon said, handing her a gift.
"You got me a gift? Thanks, Mr. Johnson," Kathy said, clearly touched.
In the bedroom, Isabella heard Leon and Kathy talking. She quickly turned around, jumped onto the bed, and pretended to be asleep under the blanket.
Sure enough, the door creaked open a moment later.
Isabella could hear the soft footsteps approaching.
Seeing Isabella and Milo both asleep, Leon smiled and walked over to the bed. He looked down at Milo and whispered, "Milo, I'm back!"
He leaned down to kiss Milo.
Isabella, eyes now open, saw Leon about to kiss Milo.
She suddenly sat up, threw off the blanket, jumped out of bed, and pushed Leon away, whispering, "I just got him to sleep. Don't wake him up. And did you wash your hands and brush your teeth? You can't just kiss him like that!"
Leon stood up straight, smiling at her. "I knew you were pretending to be asleep."
Isabella was stunned.
She looked up and saw the playful glint in Leon's eyes. She realized he had tricked her on purpose.
Embarrassed and angry, Isabella grabbed a pillow and threw it at Leon.
Leon caught the pillow and laughed. "I've been gone for over half a month, and this is how you welcome me?"
Isabella glared at him. "Are you my husband? I barely remember you."
Seeing her annoyed look, Leon stepped forward and took her hand.
Isabella shook off his hand and sat on a nearby chair, sulking.
Leon sat on the bed, facing her. "Are you really mad?"
"I think you've become the CEO and forgotten where your home is," Isabella said, turning away.
"No matter what, I'll always remember I have a warm home and a thoughtful wife," Leon said with a smile.
Her anger started to melt away at his words.
"You disappeared without a word, not even a call. I was about to report you missing to the cops!" Isabella said sarcastically.
Leon walked up to her and pulled her up from the chair.
"What are you doing?" Isabella glared at him.
Leon didn't answer. He just kissed her.
Isabella tried to push him away, but his arms held her tight. She had no choice but to give in.
The kiss was wild and passionate, like Leon wanted to devour her whole.
Isabella was stunned by the intensity of his kiss, almost suffocating her.
After a few seconds of struggling, she stopped resisting and began to kiss him back.
The passionate kiss finally ended after what felt like forever.
Leon looked down at the blushing Isabella in his arms and chuckled. "Not mad anymore, huh?"
Isabella pounded his chest with her fists and pouted. "You're the worst! You were gone so long without a single call. Do you know how worried I was? How much I missed you? If your assistant hadn't come by, I would've thought something happened to you."
Leon pushed her shoulders back and said seriously, "I'm really sorry I made you worry."
"I accept your apology, but don't let it happen again!" Isabella warned, pointing a finger at him.
Leon took her hand and said, "The internal affairs at Johnson Corporation are super complicated, and the business is stuff I haven't dealt with before. So, I'll be really busy for a while and won't be able to take care of you and Milo as much. You need to be prepared for that, okay?"
"I know you're swamped and under a lot of pressure after taking over Johnson Corporation. You've got a lot on your plate. But at least let me know where you are and how you're doing, okay? Otherwise, I'll be worried," Isabella said, frowning.
Leon looked deeply into her eyes and nodded. "Okay, I promise."
"That's more like it." Isabella finally smiled.
"Come with me!" Leon glanced at the still-sleeping Milo on the bed and led Isabella out of the room.
"Where are we going?" Isabella asked, puzzled.
Leon led her to the living room and pointed to several fancy boxes on the coffee table. "These are clothes I got for you from Skyhaven. Try them on!"
Isabella looked at the boxes and said, "Aren't you super busy? How did you have time to pick out gifts for me?"
Leon sat down on the couch, crossed his legs, and replied calmly, "Johnson Corporation owns several high-end clothing brands in Skyhaven. I picked out a few while I was inspecting them. They're all limited editions, so you won't run into anyone wearing the same thing here in Maple Valley."
Isabella's face lit up with a smile.
She picked up the large boxes and happily went back to the bedroom.
Opening the boxes, she found a red gown, a black gown, and a light purple gown. All formal evening gowns.
She chose the black gown with sparkling crystals because she had gained some weight recently, and black was more slimming.
Five minutes later, a foot in a silver high heel stepped out of the bedroom.
Leon looked up and saw a leg, followed by a figure in a black, shimmering dress.
Even though Isabella had gained some weight, her skin was flawless. The deep V-neck design of the black dress made her look stunning and her neat, ear-length hair with large gemstone earrings added elegance and nobility. The high slit on the left side of the dress revealed a long, slender leg as she walked.
For a moment, Leon's eyes were filled with heat.
