Chapter 1262 Wedding
The wedding took place at the swankiest hotel in Maple Valley. The decorations were lavish, but there were only twenty tables. The Fields family had invited close friends and relatives, senior executives from Fields Corporation, and a few business associates. For the Fields, it was a pretty low-key event.
Cecilia, in a stunning white wedding gown, walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with her brother Beau, heading towards her lifelong partner, Daryl, as the solemn music played.
Daryl looked sharp in his black tuxedo, his tall and handsome figure standing out. His eyes were glued to Cecilia, filled with deep affection and focus.
Through the veil, Cecilia's eyes were locked on the man waiting for her at the end of the aisle. Everything else had faded from her view.
Beau solemnly handed Cecilia's hand to Daryl. Daryl nodded respectfully to Beau and smiled as he took Cecilia's hand.
This nod from Daryl didn't sit well with Azalea, who was seated at the head table. Skylar, sitting next to her, noticed Azalea's expression and couldn't help but smirk.
The ceremony continued as planned. When the officiant asked, "Mr. Fields, do you take Ms. Thorne to be your wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Daryl answered solemnly, looking at Cecilia.
Hearing this, Cecilia's heart swelled with joy, a smile spreading across her face. She felt like the happiest person in the world.
Then the officiant turned to Cecilia. "Ms. Thorne, do you take Mr. Fields to be your husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for as long as you both shall live?"
Cecilia gazed at Daryl, who reached out and held her hands warmly.
Feeling the warmth of his hands, Cecilia blushed and nodded. "I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife!" the officiant declared enthusiastically.
A wave of applause filled the room.
Seb and Susan, along with Leon and Isabella, had arrived early and were clapping enthusiastically.
After the ceremony, Cecilia went to the dressing room to change into her outfit for the reception.
Marcella walked in, watching the makeup artist style Cecilia's hair, hesitating to speak.
Seeing Marcella's expression, Cecilia smiled and asked, "What's up?"
Marcella leaned in and whispered, "Why are your family members seated at the far end of the reception?"
Cecilia was taken aback and stared at Marcella.
Marcella frowned and said, "Your mom and brother should be at the head table. People are talking about it!"
Hearing this, Cecilia quickly stood up and left the dressing room.
Standing at the entrance of the banquet hall, Cecilia peeked inside.
The atmosphere was lively, with Daryl's parents going from table to table, offering toasts.
Azalea was adorned in jewels, and Isaac, in his wheelchair, was dressed in a suit, smiling broadly.
Many guests were accepting toasts from Isaac and Azalea, and the mood was festive.
Meanwhile, Rainey, Beau and his wife were seated at a table in the far corner, completely ignored, as if they didn't exist. Even Daryl's parents had deliberately avoided their table, showing a blatant lack of respect for Cecilia's family.
Seeing this, Cecilia's heart broke.
She stood there for a moment, then stepped into the banquet hall.
She could endure the disrespect, but she couldn't let her family suffer. The Fields family was being too disrespectful.
Just then, a hand grabbed her wrist. "Cecilia!"
Recognizing the familiar voice, Cecilia turned to see Daryl.
His brow furrowed, he glanced outside and said, "I overlooked this. I'll have them moved to a better table immediately."
Hearing this, Cecilia pursed her lips.
She knew this wasn't Daryl's intention and couldn't blame him.
"Please don't be upset. Today is our special day, and I don't want any unpleasantness," Daryl said, holding Cecilia's shoulders.
"Okay," Cecilia nodded, her trusting eyes looking at Daryl.
"Alright, let's get changed. We need to go out and offer toasts," Daryl smiled.
"Okay," Cecilia nodded and returned to the dressing room.
Ten minutes later, Cecilia, arm-in-arm with Daryl, re-entered the banquet hall, drawing everyone's attention.
Cecilia wore a red embroidered silk gown, her hair styled in an elegant updo, adorned with a red flower. A pair of emerald earrings completed her look, making her resemble a classic beauty. Beside her stood Daryl in a black suit, the perfect couple.
Cecilia glanced at the corner table, but Rainey, her brother, and sister-in-law were no longer there.
Daryl whispered in her ear, "Your family is at the head table on the right."
Looking to the right, Cecilia saw her family happily seated at the head table, with many Fields family guests offering toasts.
Seeing this, Cecilia smiled.
Seeing Cecilia smile, Daryl also smiled, and they intertwined their fingers.
After the reception, Rainey held Cecilia's hand and advised, "You married a good man. Though your mother-in-law is difficult, nothing is perfect. Be patient for your husband and your new family. Be a good daughter-in-law to the Fields family, okay?"
Cecilia nodded tearfully. "Mom, I'm sorry you were treated poorly."
Rainey couldn't help but shed tears.
Beau, standing nearby, said earnestly, "Cecilia, as long as you're happy, Mom and I are content!"
Hearing this, Cecilia couldn't hold back her tears and held her mother and brother's hands. "Mom, Beau, stay in Maple Valley for a few days?"
"Cecilia, there's no need. We should head back soon. We don't want to be a burden," Beau said firmly.
Rainey added, "Your brother will take care of me. Don't worry. We'll have plenty of chances to visit Maple Valley."
"Okay," Cecilia nodded.
Rainey, Beau, and his wife then left.
Daryl approached Cecilia and held her hand.
Turning around, Cecilia saw Daryl's smiling face.
"I prepared some gifts for your mom and brother, but they refused, saying they have everything they need," Daryl said.
