Chapter 429 Weak Limbs
The room went pitch black all of a sudden. Susan's eyes were still adjusting when a shadowy figure jumped on her, pinning her to the bed!
In the dark, all she could hear was his heavy breathing, while she weakly tangled her limbs with his.
Next morning, Susan showed up at the accounting firm rocking a black business suit.
Sitting at her desk, she still felt kinda weak.
Last night, he got way too excited and they went at it three times. If she hadn't set an alarm, she would've totally overslept.
The aftermath of last night's craziness caused a foggy brain and major drowsiness for her today. She definitely needed a solid night's sleep tonight and wasn't gonna let Seb near her.
Just then, Isabella barged in and plopped a hot cup of coffee in front of Susan.
"Here, drink this and wake up!" Isabella said with a grin, leaning in close.
"Do I look that bad?" Susan asked, touching her face, confused.
Isabella sat down across from her, smirking. "You look like you had a wild night and are wiped out today, but your face is glowing. Must've been fun, huh?"
"You're getting more and more inappropriate," Susan said, rolling her eyes with a smile.
Isabella touched her chin, eyeing Susan. "Hey, am I right?"
"No!" Susan shot back, then grabbed the coffee and took a sip.
"Hmph, you can't fool me. Did you give in last night and make up with Seb? Is that why he gave you that huge sapphire ring?" Isabella pointed at the ring on Susan's finger.
Hearing this, Susan glanced down at the ring. "How are your eyes so sharp?"
"If I couldn't see that rock, I'd be blind!" Isabella exclaimed.
Susan looked at the ring and smiled like a goof. This morning, while they were still in bed, he had slipped the ring onto her finger before she even opened her eyes.
And he had whispered something unforgettable in her ear. "From now on, I want to keep you with this ring. You can never leave me!"
Seeing her silly smile, Isabella pressed on, "Come on, spill it, was I right?"
Susan looked up at Isabella and said seriously, "You were right, but the order was wrong! He gave me the ring first, begged for my forgiveness, then we made up, and finally, we ended up in bed. And I didn't offer myself up!"
"Yeah, right. Seb can't live without you and is always chasing after you," Isabella said, pouting.
"That's the truth," Susan said with a smile.
Just then, there was a knock on the office door.
"Come in!" Susan called out.
The next moment, the receptionist, Vivian, opened the door and smiled. "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Lopez is here!"
Hearing that Derek had arrived, Susan quickly stood up and said, "Please, let him in."
Upon hearing this, Isabella also stood up. Derek then walked in briskly.
As soon as he walked in, Derek rushed over and grabbed Susan's hands, his eyes practically sparkling. "Ms. Wilson, I can't thank you enough!"
Susan and Isabella exchanged a look. Feeling awkward with his grip, Susan quickly pulled her hands back.
Realizing he was being a bit much, Derek quickly bowed and said, "I'm sorry, Ms. Wilson. I got carried away. Please don't mind."
Susan gave a helpless smile and said, "Mr. Lopez, is everything sorted out?"
Last night's call from Seb must've done the trick, so Derek was here to thank her in person today.
Derek then said, "Not just sorted out, but last night I got a bunch of calls from suppliers and clients saying they want to keep doing business with me. This morning, even more suppliers and clients called, saying that Mr. Anderson from Prosperity Group is backing me. The suppliers are offering better prices, and some clients are giving me bigger orders."
Hearing this, Susan was a bit taken aback. She hadn't expected Seb's offhand comment about helping Derek's business to be so effective. It showed just how influential Seb was in Maple Valley.
"He caused the problem, so he has to fix it," Susan said with a smile.
"Ms. Wilson, I want to thank Mr. Anderson in person. How about I set up a dinner tonight? Please let Mr. Anderson know, and Miss Brown, you should come too," Derek said with a flattering smile.
"Let's skip the dinner. I'll pass on your thanks," Susan said, now wary of dining with him.
"Ms. Wilson, please give me this chance. You know Mr. Anderson helped me a lot this time." Derek insisted.
Isabella chimed in, "Mr. Lopez, if you want Mr. Anderson to keep looking out for you, I'd advise you to stay away from Susan!"
Hearing this, Derek looked puzzled.
Susan gave Isabella a look, and Isabella fell silent.
After a moment's hesitation, Susan said, a bit embarrassed but politely, "Mr. Lopez, my husband is a bit possessive. He doesn't like me being out and about, so let's skip the dinner. But I will definitely convey your thanks."
Hearing this, Derek was momentarily stunned. He then scratched his head and looked at Isabella, still confused.
Isabella couldn't hold her tongue. "Do you know why Mr. Anderson gave you a hard time a few days ago? Because you got Susan drunk twice, and he got jealous. Understand?"
Susan had intended to tell Derek gently, but Isabella's bluntness left her speechless.
Isabella continued, "Luckily, Susan kept speaking well of you. Then Mr. Anderson realized he was too impulsive and felt a bit guilty, so he decided to help your business."
Finally understanding, Derek quickly said, "I have some matters to attend to, Ms. Wilson. See you later!"
With that, he left in a hurry.
Before Susan could react, Derek was already gone.
Susan and Isabella exchanged a look and then burst into laughter.
"That Derek ran off so fast. I bet he won't dare come to our firm again," Isabella said, clutching her stomach with laughter.
