Chapter 1313 Old Friend

Hearing the sound, Cecilia instinctively wrapped her arms around herself. She was sure she didn't know the person knocking, but since she hadn't seen anyone on this small island besides the servants last night, it was probably one of them.

After a while, when no one answered the door, it creaked open.

Sitting at the vanity, Cecilia looked up and was stunned. "Freya?"

Seeing Cecilia, Freya was unusually excited. She waddled over with a tray, smiling, "I finally get to see you again!"

Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "Freya, what are you doing here?"

Cecilia thought she would never see Freya again in this lifetime. She was pleasantly surprised to see her here. To be honest, she had always liked Freya.

Freya placed the tray on the vanity and smiled, "After I stopped taking care of you, Mr. Fields arranged for me to work here."

"I see," Cecilia nodded.

At that moment, Freya noticed the bruises on Cecilia's neck and shoulders and widened her eyes, "What happened to you?"

Seeing Freya's shocked expression, Cecilia quickly covered her neck with her hand and forced a smile, her face blushed.

Freya covered her face and exclaimed, "Mr. Fields is really something!"

Cecilia felt extremely embarrassed, wishing she could disappear into a hole in the ground.

Freya then said enviously, "You should have some breakfast. I brought you some beef; it'll give you strength!"

Hearing this, Cecilia's face turned even redder. She thought to herself, 'What is she talking about?'

Seeing Cecilia's embarrassment, Freya quickly smiled and said, "Please enjoy your breakfast. If you need anything, just call for me outside."

"Wait!" Cecilia called out as Freya was about to leave.

Cecilia looked at Freya, embarrassed, "Freya, my clothes are ruined. Could you find me something to wear?"

"Sure, just a moment," Freya agreed readily and waddled out.

After Freya left, Cecilia looked down at the breakfast tray. There was a small plate of beef, a glass of milk, a piece of toast, two small dishes of vegetables, and a fried egg.

Cecilia was really hungry, having not eaten anything since last night.

After Cecilia wolfed down the meal, Freya finally returned.

Freya came back with a two-piece nightgown, frowning, "I looked everywhere, but there are no new women's clothes on this island. My clothes wouldn't fit you, so this is the only unworn nightgown I could find. Maybe you can make do with this for now? You can ask Mr. Fields to send you some clothes later."

Hearing this, Cecilia took the nightgown from Freya's hands and smiled, "Thank you, this will do just fine."

She looked down at the nightgown in her hands. It was better than having nothing to wear. Asking Daryl to send her clothes? He probably brought her here to humiliate her. He wasn't that kind-hearted.

"Go ahead and change," Freya said, turning to clean up the remnants on the vanity.

"Freya," Cecilia suddenly called out.

"Yeah, what's up?" Freya turned and smiled at Cecilia.

Sitting on the bed, Cecilia hesitated before asking, "Freya, where is he?"

"Who?" Freya frowned, not quite getting it. Then she realized, "Oh, Mr. Fields? He's out for a walk. If you open the window, you can see him. This is the highest point on the island; you can see almost the entire coastline."

Hearing this, Cecilia nodded and asked, "When did you come here? Is this island being developed into a resort?"

Freya set the tray aside and walked over to explain, "This isn't a resort. Mr. Fields' father built it years ago for the Fields family's friends and relatives to vacation. After I stopped taking care of you, Mr. Fields arranged for me to work here. It's isolated, but the air and environment are great. Living here for a while really calms you down."

Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned.

The environment here was indeed excellent. The investment in these classical-style buildings must have been substantial. This was the lifestyle of the wealthy.

Freya continued, "I've been wondering when you'd come for a vacation. I didn't expect you to come so suddenly. I'm so happy to see you!"

Cecilia nodded, "I've missed you too. Seeing you doing well puts my mind at ease."

Cecilia had occasionally thought of Freya, wondering if she had returned to her home country. She never expected to find her on this island.

"I have to get back to work. I'll chat with you later when I'm free. With Mr. Fields and you here, we have a lot to do," Freya said, waddling out of the room.

After Freya left, Cecilia quickly put on the nightgown. Despite its simple design and material, it fit her well.

Wearing the nightgown, Cecilia walked to the back window. After a moment's hesitation, she opened the carved window.

Instantly, a vast expanse of blue ocean and a sky filled with white clouds appeared before her.

Seagulls soared over the calm sea, and the sight of the endless ocean broadened Cecilia's mind.

Looking down, she saw a tall, thin figure standing on the shore below.

He was wearing a long coat, standing with his back to her, about one hundred seventy feet away, his figure exuding a sense of loneliness.

Cecilia's heart tightened when she saw his back.

She leaned against the window, her eyes blankly watching his figure slowly pacing.

Before going to Skyhaven, they had been deeply in love. But in just a few days, how had things changed so drastically between them?

Cecilia could feel his resentment and anger towards her, but she could also sense his underlying love. He was probably torn between love and hate, unable to control his emotions.

Cecilia felt a chill in her heart. She had thought their relationship and trust were unbreakable, but she had overestimated their bond.
