"Don't even try that excuse," Carol interrupted, her voice sharp with disbelief. "Men are all the same, quick to blame the woman."
Andrew then said, "Mom, I wouldn't dare lie to you. If you don't believe me, you can check my phone records. I've never contacted Susan. She was the one who called me yesterday!"
Seeing Andrew's earnest expression, Carol said, "I thought you wouldn't dare lie."
"Mom, I'm a timid person. I really wouldn't do anything against my conscience," Andrew quickly nodded.
"What did Susan call you to Maple Valley Bridge for? What secret is going on between you two?" Carol scrutinized Andrew and questioned.
"Mom, there's no secret. It's just... she found out that you transferred five percent of Prosperity Group's shares to me and made me an executive director on the board. She was upset and called me to mock me, saying that I've only gotten to where I am because of Rylee. She also warned me not to fight Seb for shares or any power in Prosperity Group. She said some pretty harsh things," Andrew quickly explained.
Hearing this, Carol nodded. "That sounds like Susan, I believe you. Susan and Seb have been married for years. Even though she gave our Anderson family two children, neither Seb nor I transferred any property to her name, let alone any shares. I think she's just jealous of you."
"Yes, yes, she's just jealous of me!" Andrew quickly agreed.
A moment later, Carol angrily questioned, "Then why were you kissing by the bridge? That doesn't make any sense. Explain this to me clearly, what's going on?"
At this point, Andrew couldn't even look Carol in the eye and quickly made up a story. "Susan was jealous of me at first, so she mocked me. But then she started complaining, saying she never got any recognition in the Anderson family, especially after what happened with her mom and Dad. She said even Seb has been cold to her lately. She's been in the Anderson family for so many years and hasn't gotten any property to her name, so she's very scared."
"I think she's just afraid that Seb might really abandon her one day, and then she'd have nothing. I think she's a bit mentally unstable. She suddenly hugged me and asked me to help her. She said I know the situation in Prosperity Group and wanted me to find a way to convince Seb to transfer some property or shares to her name so that even if she leaves the Anderson family, she can live comfortably."
He paused, gauging Carol's reaction.
Sure enough, Carol seemed to believe his words.
Andrew then added, "She also said that she and her mother married into the family but haven't gained any real benefits. Now even Seb despises her, so she has to think for herself."
Hearing this, Carol, who was already upset, became even angrier and knocked over a coffee cup on the table!
"Susan and her mother are both shameless. Do they deserve any benefits?" Carol scolded.
"Exactly," Andrew quickly nodded in agreement.
The next moment, Carol stared at Andrew and asked, "That woman seduced you, and you just went along with it?"
"No, no, Mom, I only have Rylee in my heart. How could I be interested in that crazy woman?" Andrew quickly waved his hands in fear.
"Then why do you look so enthusiastic in the photo?" Carol's sharp eyes stared at Andrew.
"Mom, that's a misunderstanding! She suddenly hugged me and kissed me. I was so shocked. I've never seen such a shameless woman. So I hesitated for a moment, and then I pushed her away!" Andrew explained anxiously.
At this point, he sneaked a glance at the photos in his hand. Fortunately, the photos only showed his and Susan's faces, not their body movements, or he would have been exposed.
Carol thought for a moment and seemed to believe Andrew's words. After all, Andrew kept saying Susan was so despicable, and she didn't believe Andrew would ruin his good life to be with that shameless woman.
Then, Carol looked at Andrew and said, "Alright, I'll believe you for now. Rylee went out with friends for lunch, and I haven't told her about this yet. If I find out anything suspicious, I'll make Rylee divorce you immediately, and you'll be kicked out of the Anderson family and Prosperity Group. Understand?"
"I understood. Thank you, Mom." Carol's words made Andrew break out in a cold sweat. He absolutely couldn't leave the Anderson family or Prosperity Group. If that happened, he would have nothing, and all his efforts over the years would be in vain.
"If you want me to believe you, you have to show your utmost sincerity," Carol suddenly said.
"Mom, just tell me what you want. I'll do anything you say," Andrew, being very clever, naturally understood that Carol wanted him to show his loyalty.
Carol hesitated for a moment and said, "My birthday is in a few days. I'm going to have Seb bring that woman to the house for dinner to celebrate my birthday. At that time, in front of everyone, you will show those photos to Seb and tell him exactly what you told me."
Hearing this, Andrew was shocked for a moment, then quickly said, "I have a clear conscience, so I have nothing to fear. But won't this embarrass Seb?"
Carol sneered and said, "I used to care too much about face, which gave Susan and her mother an opportunity. I can't let Seb be deceived by that woman anymore. As long as she's in our Anderson family, I feel uneasy. I must make Seb see her true colors and kick her out of our family. Otherwise, we won't have any peace!"
Hearing this, Andrew quickly nodded and said, "Mom, I'll do whatever you say."
"Alright, just go back to work before Rylee comes back." Carol then waved her hand at Andrew.
"Okay, Mom, I'll leave now." Andrew quickly left the living room.
As he walked out of the villa, he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
