Chapter 1248 Ridicule

Hearing this, Daryl's voice grew a bit anxious. "What did Mom and Dad say?"

"Mom and Dad want you to start at Fields Corporation tomorrow, and then bring your girlfriend over for dinner in the evening. They said they agreed to the marriage, but they want to meet their future daughter-in-law," Elijah explained over the phone.

"Alright, let them know we'll be there tomorrow night," Daryl replied before hanging up.

As soon as he ended the call, Cecilia asked eagerly, "What happened?"

Daryl smiled and said, "My brother called. My parents have agreed to our marriage!"

"Really?" Cecilia's face lit up with joy.

Daryl nodded, holding Cecilia's shoulders. "Yes, they want you to come over for dinner tomorrow night. They want to meet their future daughter-in-law."

Cecilia immediately felt a wave of nervousness. "What? They want to meet me?"

She felt completely at a loss. If they didn't approve, she'd be nervous, but now that they did, she was even more anxious.

"You were going to meet them sooner or later. Don't worry, I'll be with you the whole time," Daryl reassured her with a smile.

"Who's worried?" Cecilia retorted, feeling a bit annoyed.

Daryl tilted his head and grinned. "Alright, you're not worried. Happy now?"

"You're so annoying!" Cecilia playfully slapped Daryl.

The next day at work, Cecilia couldn't focus. She kept thinking about what to wear, what jewelry to put on, and what gifts to buy for Isaac and Azalea.

In the evening, Daryl had already called Cecilia three or four times from the car before she finally came down.

Cecilia opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. "Quick, tell me how I look," she asked, looking down.

Daryl glanced at her. She was wearing black slacks, a white embroidered blouse, her hair in a ponytail, and a black cashmere coat. She had on a pair of platinum earrings and light makeup, looking very elegant.

"You look great," Daryl nodded.

Cecilia looked down at herself, feeling unsure. "Is it too plain? Older people usually like more festive colors. Maybe I should go change into that burgundy blouse?"

"Come on, we don't have time. You look perfect, very classy," Daryl assured her.

Hearing this, Cecilia finally relaxed. "Really? Okay, then."

Daryl started the car and drove onto the road.

"By the way, what gifts did you get for them?" Cecilia asked nervously.

Seeing her anxious expression, Daryl chuckled. "Don't worry, I got it covered. I got a scarf for my mom and my dad's favorite tea. It's just a gesture of respect. You'll have plenty of opportunities to show your appreciation later."

Cecilia smiled. "Thank you."

"Why so formal? We're about to become family," Daryl said, holding her hand.

Feeling the sweat in her palm, Daryl frowned. "Wow, you're really nervous."

"I'm just worried your parents won't like me," Cecilia said, pulling her hand back.

Seeing her cautious demeanor, Daryl felt a pang of sympathy. "It's me marrying you. As long as I love you, that's what matters. We just need to respect my parents, but their opinion isn't the final say."

"I know you care about me, but they're still your parents. I want them to like me too. Don't worry, I'll do my best," Cecilia smiled.

Daryl nodded. "You're becoming more and more considerate. I'm lucky to have you."

"Of course, you're blessed to have me!" Cecilia laughed.

"Absolutely, I must have done something right in my past life," Daryl joked.

Soon, Daryl drove into a garden villa.

It was early winter, and by six o'clock, night had already fallen. The garden and villa looked even more beautiful under the lights.

As Daryl and Cecilia got out of the car, a servant came to help with the bags.

Walking on the cobblestone path, Cecilia held onto Daryl's arm, her heart pounding despite being mentally prepared.

Sensing her nervousness, Daryl patted her hand.

Without much time to think, Cecilia followed Daryl into the villa.

The foyer was spacious, and a neatly dressed woman in her fifties stood there. Seeing Daryl and Cecilia, she said calmly, "Mr. Daryl Fields, Mr. Isaac Fields and Mrs. Fields have been waiting in the living room."

"Got it, Finn," Daryl nodded.

Cecilia glanced at the woman, who gave her a cool look before turning away.

"That's our housekeeper, Finn," Daryl explained.

Cecilia felt even more nervous. If the housekeeper was this aloof, what about Daryl's mother?

Daryl then led Cecilia into the living room.

It was Cecilia's first time seeing such a luxurious living room. The ceiling was as high as a two-story building, with long curtains and gold-trimmed furniture. Everything was antique and opulent, leaving Cecilia in awe.

On the sofa sat Daryl's mother, adorned with jewelry. Next to her, in a wheelchair, was a man in his sixties with silver hair and sharp eyes, looking very much like Daryl.

"Mr. Isaac Fields, Mrs. Fields, nice to meet you!" Cecilia greeted.

"Sit down," Isaac said, his face expressionless.

Daryl quickly had Cecilia sit on a single sofa, then took the gifts from the servant and placed them on the table. "Dad, Mom, these are gifts from Cecilia."

Before Isaac could speak, Azalea glanced at the gift wrapping and said with a forced smile, "You work as a small editor at a magazine, you can't make much. Buying such expensive gifts must have been hard for you!"

Azalea's words were sharp, and she glanced at Daryl.

Cecilia could tell Azalea didn't like her, so she kept her head down, staring at her toes.

At that moment, someone came down the stairs and said, "Mom, it's the thought that counts. Don't be so picky."
