Chapter 995 Cold War

When Susan heard that, she couldn't help but laugh. "You just miss him too much!" she teased.

Isabella blushed. "You love teasing me."

"I'm just being honest," Susan said with a grin.

"I don't buy it. If Seb's been gone this long, you don't miss him?" Isabella shot back.

Susan surprised her with an open response, "Of course I miss him, a lot."

"See? It's totally normal for me to miss my husband," Isabella said, just as openly.

A few days later, around noon, Isabella's phone buzzed with a text from Leon's number.

Seeing his name, her heart raced with excitement.

She quickly opened the message.

Leon: [Just landed. I'll be home in an hour.]

Isabella's face lit up with joy.

After waiting ten days, he was finally coming back.

She realized she had been postpartum for fifty days, and he was coming back today, just in time.

Thinking about it made her blush. She was already thinking about being intimate with him, and he wasn't even back yet.

Isabella looked at Milo on the bed, took his tiny hand, and smiled, "Milo, Daddy's coming back. Do you miss him?"

Milo couldn't understand but responded with happy babbling.

Isabella kissed his cheek, then opened the wardrobe to find something nice to wear to greet Leon.

An hour later, she was sitting restlessly on the couch in the living room.

She glanced at the clock on the wall. It had been more than an hour, and Leon still wasn't back.

Just as she was about to call him, the doorbell rang. Kathy moved to open the door, but Isabella smiled and said, "Kathy, I'll get it!"

She wanted Leon to see her first. She quickly walked to the door and opened it with a bright smile.

But instead of Leon, a young man in a black suit stood outside.

Isabella frowned, recognizing him immediately. He was the guy who had been with Zane last time.

The young man bowed respectfully. "Hello, Mrs. Johnson!"

Isabella didn't react right away.

Then he said, "I'm Royce, Mr. Johnson's special assistant. He asked me to pick up a set of his pajamas and a razor. The one he took to Skyhaven isn't working well; he prefers his original one."

"Where is he? Didn't he say he was coming back?" Isabella looked outside but didn't see Leon, so she frowned and asked Royce.

Royce quickly replied, "Mr. Johnson had an important engagement come up and couldn't make it back. There's also a meeting at the company tonight, so he's crashing at a hotel nearby."

Hearing this, Isabella's excitement turned to disappointment.

She was definitely bummed out. They hadn't seen each other in ages, and she thought they'd finally get to reconnect. But not only was he not coming back right away, he wouldn't even be home tonight.

"I'm calling him," Isabella said, pulling out her phone.

Royce stopped her. "Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Johnson is in a meeting with an important client. To avoid interruptions, he gave me his phone."

He raised his hand, and sure enough, Leon's phone was in it.

Isabella was really upset now. She missed Leon so much, and he couldn't even take a call.

Maybe this was the new normal. Since Zane died and Leon became CEO, he seemed more distant, like she couldn't reach him anymore.

Seeing Isabella's glare, Royce said nervously, "Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Johnson's things..."

He didn't dare rush her, just softly reminded her.

"Wait here." Isabella glared at Royce and then went to get the pajamas and razor.

A moment later, she shoved a tote bag into Royce's arms. "Take it!"

Then she slammed the door shut.

Turning around, she saw Kathy looking at her in surprise. "Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Johnson isn't coming back again?"

"Yeah," Isabella huffed.

"Should I still make the cream of mushroom soup?" Kathy asked softly, seeing Isabella's unhappy face.

Isabella hesitated for a moment and then deliberately said loudly, "Of course, make it. We'll drink it ourselves!"

With that, she stormed into her room.

Kathy didn't dare make a sound and went into the kitchen to make the soup. Isabella had been in a bad mood lately.

In the bedroom, Isabella angrily took off the red dress she was wearing and threw it on the bed.

Most of her old dresses didn't fit anymore. She had bought this one a few days ago with Susan.

She had put it on, thinking he would come back and she could greet him nicely, but he had changed his plans and only sent an assistant to get his things.

The more Isabella thought about it, the more wronged she felt, thinking that Leon didn't care about her anymore.

At that moment, Milo woke up and started crying.

Isabella quickly picked up Milo, found that he had wet himself, and hurriedly changed his diaper and fed him.

After changing his diaper and feeding him, he calmed down.

Looking down at Milo in her arms, Isabella smiled.

Ever since she had him, it was strange; her temper had softened a lot.

She had been angry at Leon just now, but when Milo fussed, she forgot everything else. Her world was only about Milo. Maybe this was the greatness of maternal love; no matter what happened, the baby was always a mother's top priority.

Another three days passed, and Leon not only didn't show up but didn't even call.

This time, Isabella was thoroughly angry and decided not to contact him, to see if he would never come home.

That evening, Isabella suddenly heard someone talking outside, and it was a familiar male voice. Her heart couldn't help but tighten.

After Sleeping with the CEO
