Chapter 1316 Infuriate
Hearing this, Cecilia lowered her head and stayed quiet.
She knew he must be feeling awful too, and she was a bit worried about him.
Elijah glanced at the silent Cecilia and suddenly asked, "Cecilia, what are you gonna do now?"
Cecilia looked up and replied, "Elijah, I need your help."
"Don't worry, as long as it's something I can do, I'll help you," Elijah said, looking at Cecilia with determination.
Cecilia smiled gratefully and said, "No matter how much I explain to Daryl, he refuses to believe there's nothing between us. So, I've given up trying to explain. Honestly, I think Mom was right. Even though her words were harsh, they made sense. I've wanted to divorce Daryl for a while, but he wouldn't agree. Now, in this situation, it's even less likely he'll agree to a divorce. So, I plan to leave him for a while, go somewhere where no one knows me. I want a peaceful life, without any more conflicts."
Elijah frowned and said, "Daryl is really upset right now. I tried to explain to him, but he wouldn't listen. I think he needs time to figure things out. It's okay if you want to leave for a while. Where do you want to go? I can help you arrange it."
Cecilia smiled and said, "Just get me off this island and help me buy a airline ticket to anywhere."
"The speedboat is ready. When do you want to leave?" Elijah asked.
"Right now," Cecilia replied.
Elijah and Cecilia left the room. Cecilia tearfully said goodbye to Freya, who was reluctant to let her go and kept asking when they would meet again. Cecilia could only promise that they would see each other again someday.
Soon, they were on the speedboat, leaving the island.
At the airport, Elijah placed a suitcase in front of Cecilia.
"Cecilia, this has some essentials and cash. Be safe and take care of yourself. Contact me if you need anything," Elijah said, looking at Cecilia.
Cecilia nodded gratefully. "Thank you, Elijah."
"You're my brother's wife. No need to be so formal," Elijah said, scratching the back of his head shyly.
Cecilia felt a warmth in her heart seeing Elijah's shy smile.
Elijah handed her a bank card. "Take this, Cecilia."
"What's this?" Cecilia asked, taking the card and looking at Elijah, puzzled.
"This card has $200,000. It's from my studio earnings. Keep it for emergencies," Elijah explained.
Cecilia tried to return the card, saying, "Elijah, I have some money. Thank you, but I don't need this."
Elijah shook his head. "Please, just take it. You never know what might happen, and I want you to be safe."
Cecilia hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, thank you. I'll pay you back someday."
Elijah smiled. "Don't worry about it. Just take care of yourself, okay?"
Cecilia gave him a hug. "I will. Thank you for everything, Elijah."
As the train pulled away, Cecilia watched Elijah standing on the platform, waving goodbye. She felt a mix of sadness and hope, knowing she was starting a new chapter in her life.
Elijah refused to take it back. "Cecilia, you know how Daryl is. If you leave, he won't let it go. He'll probably freeze your accounts. This card is under my friend's name, so he won't find it."
Cecilia paused, realizing Elijah was right. Daryl would likely freeze her accounts, leaving her no choice but to return to him.
Elijah placed the card in Cecilia's hand, leaving her speechless with gratitude.
Just then, a stern, angry voice sounded behind them.
"In public, how dare you behave so brazenly!"
Cecilia's heart sank. She turned quickly and saw Daryl standing less than 16 feet away, his eyes cold and piercing.
"Daryl?" Elijah was equally shocked to see him.
Cecilia was stunned. How did he find them? She didn't know what to do.
Cecilia quickly pulled back her hand holding the card.
Daryl's face darkened when he saw the card. He grabbed Cecilia's wrist and demanded, "Caught red-handed, huh? What do you have to say now?"
"What do you mean? Can't I talk to Elijah at the airport?" Cecilia snapped, angered.
Daryl was convinced his wife was cheating on him.
"Daryl, you're being unreasonable. Elijah brought you here without my permission. What's he planning? Running away with you? Why take money from my brother? If you need money, ask me. I'll give you whatever you need. Why ask my brother?" Daryl's eyes scanned the suitcase and the card, his anger evident.
"If you didn't restrict my freedom, I wouldn't need Elijah to help me. Daryl, you're too controlling. I'm a person, not your possession. I have my own freedom, and you can't take that away!" Cecilia shouted.
"Freedom has limits. Don't forget you're still my wife. Flirting with other men, even planning to run away with my brother, is that the freedom you want?" Daryl's voice was loud, drawing attention from people around them.
"Daryl, you're being ridiculous. Which eye of yours saw me running away with Elijah?" Cecilia struggled and argued.
But Daryl's grip was like a vice, and she couldn't break free.
Cecilia's wrist hurt so much she was about to cry, but her struggle was in vain.
Seeing this, Elijah stepped forward, pushed Daryl away, and stood protectively in front of Cecilia. "Daryl, why can't you believe me and your wife? We're innocent. I admit, there are things I like about her, but she's your wife. No matter how much of a jerk I am, I wouldn't make a move on her!"
Daryl's anger flared even more. "What did you say? You like my wife, and you dare admit it?"
