Chapter 668 Gratification

These were the marks Seb had just left on her body. Thinking about the way he had tormented her with gritted teeth, Susan's heart ached.

Her eyes filled with tears, but she told herself, 'Susan, you have to be strong. Now is not the time to cry. If you cry, he won't feel any pity for you; instead, he'll feel even more satisfied.'

But when he mentioned Andrew earlier, she snapped back at him. Why did he suddenly get so furious? Was he jealous?

Susan knew that he must be feeling both love and hate towards her, which was why he was so irritable and unpredictable, always picking things that would cause her pain to torment her. But she couldn't explain it now and could only let things develop as they were.

A few minutes later, Susan calmed her emotions and walked out of the bathroom.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Seb already sitting at his desk, and a middle-aged man in a suit was standing opposite Seb, reporting on work.

Seeing this, Susan felt very nervous because she hadn't cleaned up the mess from earlier, and it would be really embarrassing if someone saw it.

Susan glanced at the sofa and saw that it was empty; all the clothes Seb had torn off her were gone.

While she was still puzzled, Seb interrupted the executive who was reporting to him and said to Susan, "I put your things in your bag. You can leave now."

Still wondering where her things had gone, Susan nodded. "Oh."

She thought he would humiliate her completely, but unexpectedly, he had preserved a bit of her dignity.

The next moment, Susan picked up her bag and turned to leave.

Just as she was about to reach the door, Ellie suddenly pushed it open. "Mr. Anderson, did you call for me?"

"I accidentally broke the ashtray. Call the cleaning staff to come and clean it up," Seb said without even looking at Ellie, then turned to the executive standing at his desk and said, "Continue!"

"Yes, Mr. Anderson. As I was saying..." the executive continued his report.

Seeing Seb so engrossed in listening to the work report, without even a glance at her, Susan quickly dashed out the door, sprinting all the way out of the Prosperity Group building.

Standing under the blue sky and white clouds, breathing in the fresh air, Susan tightened her trench coat around her because the bruises on her neck were really unsightly.

After walking a few steps, she saw a trash can and walked over to it.

She took out the messy clothes from her bag and threw them into the trash can without hesitation, then quickly walked away.

Today's events were definitely the shame of her life.

Susan knew Seb would have more tricks to deal with her, but she didn't want to think about it now.

To make good use of the two hours to spend with her children, Susan called Isabella and said she wouldn't be going to the firm today.

She needed to look presentable, to be the mother her children deserved, even if it was just for a little while. Toys and treats were purchased, each one carefully chosen.

Finally, it was three o'clock in the afternoon.

At three o'clock, Susan appeared in front of Seb's villa with bags in hand.

This time, the bodyguards didn't give her a hard time and even opened the door for her personally.

As soon as she entered, Spring heard Susan's voice and ran over, shouting, "Mommy!"

"Spring!" Susan put down the bags and rushed to pick up Spring.

After not seeing her for many days, Susan's eyes reddened, and she kissed Spring's little face repeatedly.

Spring's chubby little hands touched Susan's face, feeling very close. Susan took out all the delicious and fun things, and Spring played happily.

Around four o'clock, Kathy said to Susan, "Ms. Wilson, I'm going to pick up Hayden. I'll be back soon."

"Okay," Susan nodded to Kathy.

Sure enough, not long after, Kathy brought Hayden back.

Seeing Susan, Hayden happily ran over.

Looking at Hayden and Spring, Susan's hands never left them. It was so hard to see them even once.

But two hours was too short. As five o'clock approached, Susan knew she had to leave quickly. If Rylee found out she had come to see the kids, she would go crazy, and it might be even harder to see them in the future.

At the moment of parting, Susan held Spring's hand and touched Hayden's head, saying, "Hayden, Spring, I'm going on a business trip in a few days to a faraway place. It might be a long time before I can see you again. You have to be good, okay?"

Susan didn't know when she would have the chance to see them again, and she was also very resistant to meeting Seb again.

Although she knew she wouldn't be able to hold out for long before seeing Seb, she had to try to hold on and not let her dignity be trampled so easily.

Hearing this, Hayden seemed to understand a bit and didn't say anything, while Spring shook Susan's hand and said in her sweet childish voice, "I don't want you to go on a business trip!"

"Spring, be good. I'll bring you lots of dolls," Susan quickly coaxed her.

"Then you have to buy a lot of dolls," Spring, being young, was easily coaxed and became happy.

But Hayden seemed to sense the family crisis and held Susan's hand, asking, "Mommy, are you and Daddy getting a divorce?"

Hearing this, Susan frowned.

Susan knew that Hayden, already understood a lot, so she previously had to lie to him, saying she was busy with work and often on business trips, trying to hide the divorce from him.

"Who told you that?" Susan knew she might not be able to hide it this time.

"I heard Daddy and Aunt Rylee talking about it. Mommy, are you going to leave me and Spring? There are kids in my preschool whose parents are divorced, and they are so pitiful. They either can't see their mom or their dad," Hayden said with a worried look.

Hearing this, Susan's heart broke.

The next moment, she quickly comforted him, "Hayden, even if Daddy and I get divorced, we still love you. That will never change. Work has been keeping me busy, but when you have a break from school, I promise we'll go on a vacation, just the three of us."

But Hayden was still not reassured and held Susan's hand, saying, "Mommy, I don't want a vacation. I want you to stay with me and Spring. There's a boy in my class, his mommy left a long time ago. Do you think she doesn't love him anymore?"
