Chapter 409 Drank Too Much

Upon hearing this, Susan paused for a sec, then played it cool, "Not today, Isabella and I gotta pull an all-nighter."

Susan was pretty impressed with her own acting skills, but inside, her heart was racing like crazy.

There was a brief silence on the other end before he continued, "Just the two of us, we haven't had some alone time in ages."

Susan could hear a bit of pleading in his voice. They'd been in a cold war for a while, sleeping in separate rooms and barely talking. She was dodging him on purpose, and since he was hardly ever home, it wasn't too awkward.

Susan couldn't figure out why Seb, having someone else, would still ask her out for dinner. What did he take her for? Did he expect her to just hang around without any clarity while he went off and married another woman?

Thinking about it, Susan's eyes welled up. She quickly looked up at the ceiling, not wanting her tears to fall or her voice to sound choked.

Then, Susan steeled herself and said, "We're on a tight deadline. The client needs it by tomorrow."

He paused a bit before he said, "Alright, you go ahead."

With that, Seb hung up.

After putting down the phone, Susan leaned back in her swivel chair, staring at the ceiling.

She could still picture the young girl who had dinner with him that day. Even though she couldn't see his face, she could tell they were super close.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Susan quickly wiped her tears, then lowered her head, pretending to work, and said, "Come in!"

"Ms. Wilson, how about we call it a day?" came the sound of high heels.

Hearing Isabella's voice, Susan suddenly said, "How about we grab some French food?"

Isabella was surprised and said, "Don't you need to go home to be with Hayden and Spring?"

"Not today, I'll hang with you." Susan then looked up and smiled.

Susan knew that since she didn't agree to go out with Seb, he'd probably go home to be with Hayden and Spring. To dodge the awkwardness of facing him, she decided not to go home for dinner.

Plus, she had just lied about working late, so it made sense to come home a bit later.

"Alright, let's drink till we drop," Isabella said excitedly.

Then, Susan and Isabella left the office together.

They hit up their usual French spot, ordered a bottle of red wine, and chatted while eating and drinking.

"I've noticed something's off with you lately," Isabella suddenly said.

"What's off with me?" Susan felt a bit guilty.

She hadn't told Isabella about the recent drama. But they knew each other too well.

"You haven't mentioned Seb much lately." Isabella's eyes were full of suspicion.

Susan was caught off guard for a moment, then quickly covered it up. "He's either running to the central district or swamped with work, never home. We haven't had much interaction lately."

Hearing this, Isabella winked. "Even if there's no interaction, there are still physical needs, right?"

Susan rolled her eyes at Isabella.

Since they split, he hadn't asked, and she hadn't turned him down.

"Look at you, a mom of two, still blushing. I knew Seb must have high demands in that area. You look worn out every day. Look, moderate sex is good for health, but too much can be harmful," Isabella teased with a mischievous grin.

Seeing she wouldn't stop, Susan shot back, "You're an unmarried young woman, talking about sex like you're an expert. You're really shameless!"

"I..." Isabella blushed, then stubbornly said, "I only have theoretical knowledge; you have the practical experience."

"Even eating can't shut you up!" Susan placed a piece of steak on Isabella's plate.

The two were laughing and chatting when suddenly, a middle-aged man in his fifties, wearing a blue floral shirt and looking all refined, noticed Susan and Isabella from the neighboring table and walked over.

"Ms. Wilson, Ms. Brown, what a coincidence to see you here!" The middle-aged man greeted them warmly.

Susan looked up and saw it was Derek Lopez, so she and Isabella quickly stood up.

"Mr. Lopez, you're eating here too? What a coincidence!" Susan greeted.

Derek was a client introduced by Linda last time. Although his company wasn't big, he was very humorous and gentlemanly, always polite to everyone. Despite his age, he dressed very fashionably, so Susan had a deep impression of him.

"I love the French cuisine here, but it's a bit lonely eating alone today," Derek said, rubbing his hands.

Hearing this, Susan said, "We came on a whim too. If you don't mind, why don't you join us?"

"I don't mind. It's boring eating alone, just worried you two ladies might mind," Derek said happily.

"We usually can't even get a chance to treat you, why would we mind?" Isabella said, then called the waiter to combine the two tables.

Then, Susan and Isabella had dinner with Derek.

During the meal, Susan and Isabella had some red wine with Derek.

Derek could hold his liquor well. Susan was trying to control herself, not to drink too much to avoid losing composure, but she couldn't resist Derek's constant toasts. In the end, both Susan and Isabella were a bit tipsy, but not too much, just the right amount.

After dinner, Derek suggested going to sing karaoke.

Susan and Isabella couldn't refuse, and Susan didn't want to go home early to face Seb, so she happily agreed.

Although Derek was a male client, with Isabella accompanying her, nothing should go wrong.

In the KTV room, Susan and Isabella sang with Derek. Despite drinking, Derek remained a gentleman, not like some troublesome male clients who would get handsy, so Susan had a high opinion of Derek.

Susan sang loudly in the room, and indeed, singing could relieve stress.

They sang until after eleven, then Susan and Isabella left the KTV with Derek.

Derek brought his car around and, very gentlemanly, opened the back door for Susan and Isabella. "Ladies, please get in!"

"Thank you, Derek." Susan and Isabella smiled and were about to get in.

Suddenly, two beams of strong light shot out from the front, and a car sped past them, stopping right in front of Derek's car!
