Chapter 1061 Moving into the Villa
Cecilia knew that after tonight, her life might be in turmoil, but she had no regrets and was mentally prepared. No matter what, she did it all for her family. Only if Rainey and Quentin had a better life could she be at ease.
As for Daryl, since she took his money, she had to serve him well.
The next day, within twenty-four hours, the $104,000 was transferred to Cecilia's account. Cecilia appreciated Douglas' efficiency.
In the morning, after class, Cecilia rushed to the bank and transferred the $104,000 to Rainey's account back home. She called Rainey and told her that she and her classmates made money from a business venture, and this money was for Quentin to buy a house and get married.
To avoid Rainey's suspicion, Cecilia said that part of the money was borrowed from her business partner and assured Rainey that their business was doing very well and she would soon repay the money. Rainey, having little experience and never having been abroad, quickly believed that Northstar City was a great place to do business.
After doing all this, Cecilia felt at ease.
In the afternoon, Cecilia sat by her suitcase, calmly waiting for Douglas to pick her up.
Sure enough, in the evening, Douglas arrived in a long Mercedes-Benz.
Douglas was still as courteous as ever, opening the back door for her.
However, Cecilia seemed to see disdain in Douglas' eyes.
'Of course, what respect could a woman bought with money expect?' Cecilia mocked herself inwardly.
Soon, the car stopped in front of a luxurious villa.
Cecilia immediately recognized it as the villa Daryl had forcibly brought her to a few days ago.
So this really was his home, not borrowed from a friend.
For the first time, Cecilia felt like she was a fool. How could she not know he was a rich second-generation heir after being with him for several months? It was all her fault for being so blind, or maybe she just never thought in that direction.
Douglas led Cecilia to the villa's living room. Cecilia glanced around; the decor was luxurious, the space vast, the furniture and appliances high-end. Even the curtains were made of intricate embroidered fabric, and the tea set looked like a work of art. She felt like she had entered a fairy tale world.
Douglas introduced the place to Cecilia, "The first floor has the living room, kitchen, dining room, study, and servant's quarters. The second floor has the living room and three bedrooms: one master bedroom and two guest bedrooms. The study contains many of Mr. Fields' personal items, and you should avoid entering it except for cleaning."
"Mr. Fields instructed that you should not leave the house except for classes, as he doesn't know when he might return. Also, since you have free time, we won't hire a servant. You need to keep the house spotless, as he likes cleanliness. If he returns, you must change his bed sheets daily and iron his clothes."
"If Mr. Fields plans to dine at home, I will call you in advance. Mr. Fields usually has four dishes and a soup per meal, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. You can cook, right? If not, you need to learn quickly. I've prepared a recipe book for you."
"Here's $1,000 for groceries and daily expenses. I will give you a monthly allowance, as determined by Mr. Fields. Make sure not to overspend."
After giving all these instructions, Douglas handed Cecilia an envelope.
Cecilia took the envelope from Douglas, feeling a bitter smile inside.
Daryl was quite shrewd, making her both the servant and the bedmate.
To prevent her from spending recklessly, he set a monthly allowance of $1,000. It seemed he had no feelings for her anymore; to him, she was just a commodity.
"If you need anything, you can contact me. Mr. Fields is usually very busy and may not be able to take your calls." Noticing the sadness in Cecilia's eyes, Douglas looked at her with sympathy.
She didn't need anyone's sympathy. She made her choice willingly, so the next moment, Cecilia put away her sadness and smiled at Douglas. "Get it."
"Then I'll be going. Goodbye." Douglas didn't linger and left the villa with his briefcase.
After Douglas left, Cecilia stood in the luxurious villa's living room, feeling that everything, though grand, was unfamiliar. The scary part was that in such a large space, aside from a few green plants, she was probably the only living being.
The master bedroom on the second floor was not only large but also luxurious, with a huge bed she had never seen before. So Cecilia chose to stay in the guest bedroom next door, as the large room would make her nervous at night.
In the evening, feeling hungry, she found quite a few ingredients in the kitchen fridge. Cecilia simply cooked a bowl of pasta with some vegetables and meat, which filled her up. After eating plain pasta for days, she had lost a few pounds. 'Here, the food should be quite good,' she thought self-mockingly.
Although she hadn't adapted to the new environment, she went to bed early, knowing she had classes the next day. After class, she would have to start cleaning the large villa, so she needed to conserve her energy.
Indeed, Cecilia was also anxious about whether Daryl would return that night. When the clock on the wall passed ten, she breathed a sigh of relief, as it seemed Daryl wouldn't be coming back.
At first, lying in bed, Cecilia couldn't sleep and started to overthink.
Since signing the agreement yesterday, her relationship with Daryl was set. He was the boss, and she was his employee, an employee on call all the time.
Cecilia knew she still loved him, but from today on, she had to bury that love deep in her heart. She had taken his money and was no longer worthy of saying she loved him, and he had acknowledged their current relationship.
From now on, she would do her best to be a good employee and make Daryl satisfied. Treating him as her boss would make her feel better.
As for the term, in a year, they would have no relationship.
Cecilia was very clear about her feelings for Daryl. She loved him, admired him, and was even infatuated with him. She thought their relationship was over, but God gave her another chance to be with him for a year. So she would cherish this year. After all, serving the one she loved might not be too hard.
As the night deepened, Cecilia fell asleep.
