Chapter 1063 Picky
For several days in a row, Daryl hadn't shown up at the villa.
Cecilia, who had been quite tense, finally breathed a sigh of relief. She thought to herself, 'Maybe I hit him too hard on the forehead with the lamp. That injury will probably take a few days to heal, and he might not be interested in seeing me.'
'Wait, did I hit him too hard? Could he have a concussion?' Thinking of this, Cecilia began to worry about Daryl's injury again.
That afternoon, Cecilia had just walked out of the school gate with her backpack.
"Cecilia!" Someone called her name from behind.
It was a male voice. Cecilia stopped and turned around to see her classmate Barry running towards her.
In the sunlight, he was wearing a black leather jacket and a pair of boots, looking very dashing and handsome.
"Barry, what's up?" Cecilia asked, looking at Barry.
Among her classmates, Cecilia and Barry were considered good friends.
Barry walked up to Cecilia, took out two tickets from his pocket, and said with a smile, "Cecilia, Turandot is being performed at the Grand Theater tonight by the Luminara Opera Company. A friend gave me two tickets. Would you like to go with me?"
Cecilia loved Turandot and had heard that it was being performed by the Luminara Opera Company. As a Luminara native, she naturally wanted to support them, so she smiled and said, "Sure."
"The performance starts at 7:30. How about I pick you up at your apartment at 7:00?" Barry was overjoyed to hear Cecilia accept the invitation.
"No need," Cecilia quickly replied, "Let's just meet at the theater entrance at 7:20."
Hearing this, Barry nodded. "Alright, see you there."
"See you there." Cecilia nodded.
Barry then watched Cecilia leave.
At 4:30, Cecilia, who had just finished class, received a phone call.
"Ms.Thorne, this is Douglas." As soon as the call connected, a familiar voice came through.
Hearing this voice, Cecilia felt a sudden tension.
Because if Douglas was calling, it meant Daryl was going to show up, and she had a bad feeling about it.
"What's up?" Cecilia felt her voice change.
Douglas immediately said, "Mr. Fields will be back at the villa for dinner at 7:00 tonight. He wants you to prepare dinner: four dishes and a soup, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. Also, Mr. Fields said he doesn't want to see you in the nightgown you wore last time."
"Okay," Cecilia replied, but her brain hadn't fully processed it yet.
Douglas then hung up
Then She thought, 'What did he mean by not wanting to see me in the nightgown I wore last time? But I only have that one nightgown. Wait, Is he implying that after dinner, I will have to spend the night with him?'
Thinking of this, Cecilia felt a lump in her throat and was completely stunned.
Cecilia walked through the streets of Northstar City with her backpack. By the time she calmed down, 15 minutes had passed.
Finally, Cecilia understood that no matter how scared or resistant she was, what was meant to come would come. Daryl had no reason to spend a fortune on someone who did nothing.
Once she calmed down, Cecilia decided to face it head-on.
Looking at her watch, it was almost 5:00. She needed to buy a nightgown, buy groceries, and cook dinner.
Realizing there wasn't enough time, Cecilia quickly walked towards the nearest mall.
When Cecilia saw the array of nightgowns, she felt a bit overwhelmed.
Those nightgowns were too sexy, with so little fabric that she couldn't imagine herself wearing them.
In the end, Cecilia chose the most conservative one, quickly stuffed it into her backpack, and then hurried to the supermarket to buy ingredients.
At the supermarket, Cecilia was dumbfounded by the array of vegetables and meats. She quickly tried to recall what Daryl liked to eat.
But she didn't have much time to hesitate. She quickly picked some meat and vegetables and rushed back to the villa.
By the time she got back to the villa, it was already past 6:00. Cecilia didn't have time to change clothes and immediately started preparing the ingredients and cooking.
At 7:00, Cecilia finally had the four dishes and a soup ready on the table.
Taking off her apron, Cecilia wiped the sweat from her forehead and smiled. She had finished cooking right at 7:00.
At that moment, footsteps sounded at the door.
Cecilia's heart tightened. No one but Daryl should be coming to this villa.
The next moment, Daryl walked into the living room, carrying a briefcase.
Cecilia quickly lowered her head, took the briefcase from Daryl, and said, "Dinner is ready."
Daryl didn't respond, just nodded, looking very tired.
Cecilia put down the briefcase and quickly set the table.
Two minutes later, Daryl, wearing a white shirt, sat at the dining table.
Cecilia placed the utensils in front of Daryl, quickly served him a bowl of soup, and then nervously sat across from him.
To be honest, although Cecilia had helped Rainey cook and do laundry since she was a child, the meals she made were usually simple home-cooked dishes, rarely anything fancy.
Today, Cecilia had made a cream of mushroom soup, a baked fish, two vegetable dishes, and a meat dish. She rarely cooked with such good ingredients, so she was worried the taste wouldn't suit him.
Cecilia watched Daryl intently. When she saw him take a sip of the soup, she nervously asked, "How's the soup?"
Without looking up, Daryl said, "Not cooked long enough."
Hearing this, Cecilia took a sip herself.
It was indeed not cooked long enough, but she couldn't be blamed. She had only gotten back after 6:00, so the soup hadn't had enough time to cook.
The next moment, Cecilia saw Daryl take a bite of the baked fish and quickly asked, "How's the fish?"
Daryl, very gentlemanly, took a bite, then wiped his mouth with a napkin and said solemnly, "Too salty."
Hearing this, Cecilia nodded. She had indeed added a bit too much salt, but there was nothing she could do about it now.
Then, Daryl took a few bites of the other dishes.
Cecilia tentatively asked, "Are these dishes okay?"
Cecilia thought these dishes should be presentable.
But to her surprise, Daryl replied expressionlessly, "No flavor."
