Chapter 214 Give Birth
After a long wait, the operating room door finally opened, and a doctor in a white coat rushed out.
"Doctor, how is it?" Seb asked, hurrying forward.
The doctor took off his mask, smiling slightly. "The mother had a baby girl. She's doing well, but since she was born a month early, she's in an incubator."
Seb sighed in relief but quickly asked, "How's the mother?"
The doctor's expression turned serious. "She lost a lot of blood and is getting a transfusion. She needs to stay in the hospital for observation."
Seb frowned and said, "Doctor, please do everything you can to save her!"
"Mr. Anderson, don't worry. It's our duty to save patients," the doctor replied.
Seb then asked, "Can my daughter's umbilical cord blood save my son?"
The doctor answered, "We've sent the cord blood for testing. If the blood type matches, we can proceed with your son's surgery right away."
"Thank you," Seb said, falling into a long silence.
Leon stood aside, not daring to interrupt. He knew Seb was very anxious. If the cord blood didn't match Hayden's blood type, he didn't know how Seb would handle it.
For the past six months, Seb had used all his connections to find a bone marrow match for Hayden. But with both having rare blood types, it seemed almost impossible. The only hope was a sibling match.
Seb had pinned all his hopes on the baby Susan was carrying. If this failed, Hayden might not make it, a thought Seb couldn't bear. No matter how capable he was, he felt powerless against life and death.
In the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward.
Susan had been in and out of consciousness for the past two days, feeling weak and disoriented. When she opened her eyes, everything was white.
In her dreams, she kept thinking about her baby. She dreamed of a cute baby being born and growing up.
Finally, two days later, Susan opened her eyes.
"You're awake?" a gentle male voice said.
Susan turned and saw George smiling at her.
She was stunned to see him and looked around, realizing she was in a hospital.
Suddenly, she sat up and grabbed George's hand. "Where's my baby?"
George quickly replied, "The baby's fine, but she's in an incubator because she was born early."
Susan still held onto George's arm and hesitated before asking, "You're not lying to me, right? She's really okay?"
She vaguely remembered hearing a baby's cry in the operating room but knew nothing of what happened afterward.
Seeing Susan still worried, George quickly pulled out his phone. "I took a picture of her. Take a look."
Susan hesitated, afraid to see the photo, fearing this child might leave her like the last one.
"It's a girl, very beautiful and cute," George said with a smile.
Susan grabbed the phone and looked. Sure enough, there was a tiny baby wrapped in a pink blanket on the screen.
The baby had her eyes closed, little hands raised beside her head, sleeping adorably. She was very small and thin, evoking a sense of pity.
"Why is she so small?" Susan couldn't take her eyes off the screen.
"She was born early, so she's smaller than most babies. But the doctor said it won't affect her growth. In a few months, she'll be as chubby as other babies," George reassured her.
Susan touched the screen, feeling relieved that her daughter was safe and healthy. She breathed a sigh of relief, her anxious heart finally at ease.
She handed the phone back to George and asked, "Did the doctor say when she can come out of the incubator?"
"She was born a month early. The doctor said about two weeks," George replied.
"Oh." Susan nodded, hoping the days would pass quickly.
Suddenly, she remembered something and asked, "Why are you here?"
She clearly remembered being forcibly brought here by Seb. How was George now at her bedside?
George hesitated and then said, "Seb called and said you had given birth here, asking me to come take care of you."
Susan frowned.
She couldn't understand Seb's actions. He had gone to great lengths to bring her here, performed a C-section to deliver her baby, and now showed no interest in either her or the child, leaving them in George's care.
What was Seb trying to do? Was he just playing with her? But this kind of play was too much, causing her immense pain and harming the baby's health. Was Seb really mentally unstable?
Seeing Susan silent for a long time, George said, "Two days ago, Brenda called saying you were missing, and Saskia was very worried, almost calling the police. I was about to head back when Seb suddenly called, saying you had given birth and that he had important matters to attend to, asking me to come take care of you."
"Seb is not a human; he's a beast, a beast!" Susan suddenly lost control and shouted.
Seeing her so agitated, George quickly held her hand. "Susan, what happened? You weren't due yet, so why did you give birth suddenly?"
"It was Seb. He made me unconscious and then had the doctor perform a C-section. My baby wasn't full-term, but he took her out of my belly, which is why she's in the incubator." Saying this, Susan couldn't control her emotions and started crying.
