Chapter 650 A Scam

That afternoon, after work, Susan wandered aimlessly through the streets alone.

Isabella and Leon had gone on a date, Dorothy had gone to Averlake to see Amanda, and since it wasn't the weekend, she couldn't visit Hayden and Spring. Feeling lonely, she decided to wander the streets to see if there was anything she could buy for the kids.

As she wandered, Susan glanced up and thought she saw a shadow behind her reflected in a store window.

Startled, she quickly turned around but saw nothing.

She then turned and walked quickly.

Susan kept feeling like someone was following her, but every time she turned around, there was no one there. Was she just being paranoid?

At dusk, Susan bought a bowl of pasta from an Italian restaurant. That would be her dinner for the night. Being alone, cooking didn't seem worth the effort.

Leaving the restaurant, Susan walked to the bus stop.

As she walked, she still felt someone behind her. Her brow furrowed, and she broke out in a cold sweat.

Although this wasn't a pedestrian street, there were still plenty of people around. Surely no one would dare harm her here, right?

Susan quickly turned around, and sure enough, there was a dark figure behind her.

Startled, she almost threw her takeout at the person, but then she recognized who it was.

Seeing Seb in a black trench coat, Susan was momentarily stunned, her heart racing with excitement.

He was wearing sunglasses, so she couldn't see his eyes, but she could feel that he was looking at her.

Susan didn't understand why he was following her so mysteriously, but she was relieved because he wouldn't harm her.

The next moment, she looked at Seb and softly asked, "Are you looking for me?"

"Did you expect me to come looking for you?" Seb's tone was distant and cold.

Susan didn't notice his unusual demeanor. She thought he must have been having a tough time lately. Although her life was calm, her inner sadness had no one to confide in.

Susan could sense an inexplicable emotion in Seb's voice but didn't know why he was unhappy. Had something troubled him?

She gently asked, "Seb, what's bothering you?"

"Nothing." Seb's face grew even darker.

Seeing this, Susan took a step closer and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

"I'm fine," Seb's voice rose.

Susan grew uneasy because he wasn't someone who lost his temper easily.

She suddenly grabbed Seb's arm and asked, "Is something wrong with Hayden and Spring? Tell me quickly, don't scare me!"

Susan knew Seb was a self-controlled person. He wouldn't bother her for no reason. Something must have happened to the kids, and her heart raced.

"Do you still care about them? I just don't understand how you could be thinking of another man while having child after child with me. What kind of woman are you? All these years, I never saw through you!" Seb, still wearing his sunglasses, spoke through gritted teeth.

Hearing this, Susan stared at Seb in disbelief. The sunglasses hid his eyes, making it impossible for her to read his emotions.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you saying such nonsensical things? What other man? Who else is in my heart but you? Even though we can't be together now, you don't have to slander me like this. Hayden might have been an accident, but Spring was your doing, your plan, wasn't it? How can you say such cruel things to me now?" Susan's eyes welled up with tears.

"An accident, was it?" he scoffed. "No, no accident. How could it be so convenient? You, pretending to be drunk, coming onto me…knowing you were ovulating." He ripped off his sunglasses, his eyes blazing with icy fury.

Hearing this, Susan took two steps back and shook her head. "You're delusional!"

"Are you saying that because you feel exposed?" Seb sneered.

Susan was almost faint with anger. She snapped, "We're divorced now, and I have no intention of getting back together with you. Say whatever you want; I'm going home. I don't have time to listen to your nonsense!"

With that, Susan turned to leave.

Seb called after her, "Susan, it's all a scam, a scam!"

Susan paused for a moment but continued walking.

She had intended to take the bus, but in her anger, she walked for an hour without realizing it until her feet were numb.

What was wrong with Seb? It was as if he had been inexplicably provoked and had lost his mind.

He kept calling her a liar, saying she didn't truly love him and had approached him on purpose back then.

Thinking about it gave Susan a headache. What had happened to him? Had he been provoked, or was his mind just not clear?

Worried about Seb, Susan took out her phone to call Leon. He would surely know what was going on.

Before she could dial, an incoming call interrupted her.

The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number, but it seemed somewhat familiar.

After a moment's hesitation, Susan answered the call. "Hello?"

"Susan, it's Andrew." A familiar male voice came through immediately.

Hearing Andrew's voice, Susan frowned and instinctively wanted to hang up. She didn't want any connection with him.

Andrew seemed prepared and quickly said, "I know you don't want to take my call, but I have something very important to tell you!"

Susan, holding back her impatience, asked, "What is it? Andrew? Make it quick."

Andrew sounded anxious. "Susan, Seb and Rylee already know about our past."

"What did you say?" Susan was stunned by his words.
