Chapter 977 Too Many Surprises
Isabella pointed at Leon's face and teased, "Why are you blushing?"
Leon quickly touched his face and denied it, "Blushing? Me? No way."
Isabella laughed, clearly enjoying herself. "So, guys can get shy too? I thought you didn't even know what shyness was!"
Leon rolled his eyes. "I'm not like you, Miss Unbashful."
Isabella shot back, "What do you mean by that? Explain yourself!"
Leon just grinned and put a big hand on her shoulder. "Come on, let's go. I wanna show you something cool."
"Where are we going?" Isabella asked, looking puzzled.
Leon gave her a mysterious smile. "You'll see when we get there."
"If you don't tell me, I'm not going," Isabella muttered.
Leon chuckled. "Nope, you're my wife now. No backing out." He helped her into the car.
The car zoomed towards the busiest part of Maple Valley and eventually stopped outside a fancy residential area.
Isabella stepped out and looked around. The place was quiet despite being in the city, with top-notch landscaping and beautiful houses.
"Why did you bring me here?" she asked, looking up at Leon.
Leon smiled. "To see our new home."
"New home? You bought a house here?" Isabella was surprised.
"Yep, just waiting for you to move in." Leon guided her inside.
He led her to a two-story house with a garden. The place was over three thousand square feet, beautifully decorated, and filled with high-end furniture and appliances. The garden was immaculate.
"Do you like it?" Leon asked, watching her face closely.
"When did you buy it?" Isabella asked, still in awe.
"Before I went to Northstar City. I wanted us to move in soon, so I got it fully furnished. While I was away, I had my secretary pick out the furniture and appliances. Since you're pregnant, everything's super eco-friendly. The styles might not be great, but we can change them later," Leon said, his voice full of affection.
Isabella looked down, silent for a moment. Then she asked, "How did you know I'd come back with you?"
Leon held her hand. "Whether you came back or not, this place was always ready for you."
Isabella felt a wave of emotion wash over her.
"What about your penthouse?" she asked.
"I sold it," Leon said casually.
"Sold it? Why?" Isabella's eyes widened.
Leon shrugged. "You said you were afraid of heights last time. I couldn't live there anyway, and a friend of mine liked it, so I sold it to him."
Isabella frowned. "That's a shame, I liked that penthouse!"
Leon looked surprised. "Aren't you afraid of heights?"
"I said that because I didn't want to live with you before we got married," Isabella rolled her eyes at him.
Leon rubbed his head in frustration. "You women, it's impossible to tell what's true and what's not!"
Seeing his defeated look, Isabella quickly grabbed his hand. "I was just messing with you. This place is awesome too, and it has a garden. We can hang out there with the baby."
Truth be told, Isabella still had a soft spot for that penthouse. The first time she saw it, she fell in love with the floor-to-ceiling windows that covered an entire wall. From there, she could see almost all of Maple Valley. During the day, the winding river and blue sky with fluffy clouds were breathtaking. At night, the view of the skyscrapers and city lights was magical.
But Leon's gesture touched her deeply. He sold such a great place just because she said she didn't like it.
Leon forced a smile. "Come on, let me show you our bedroom."
"Okay," Isabella nodded.
Leon helped her up the stairs, one step at a time. There were several rooms upstairs. He walked to a door, opened it, and gestured for her to go in.
Isabella noticed a hint of mystery on his face and stepped into the master bedroom.
The sight took her breath away. The ceiling was decorated with colorful balloons, and a large leather bed was covered with red roses—so many that they almost hid the entire bed.
"What’s all this?" Isabella asked, smiling at Leon.
Leon stepped forward, holding her hands and looking into her eyes. "This is to celebrate our marriage certificate today. You're almost due, so the wedding will have to wait until after the baby is born. And these flowers, there are nine hundred and ninety-nine of them."
Isabella glanced around the festively decorated room and the bed full of flowers, smiling happily. "We already have a baby, so the wedding isn't necessary. Let's make it simple and invite a few close friends to celebrate. Neither of us has much family anyway."
"A wedding only happens once. I want to see you in a wedding dress," Leon said, gently touching her hair.
Isabella felt a wave of satisfaction. "After the baby is born, we can just take a wedding photo."
"What about the honeymoon?" Leon asked, frowning.
Isabella looked at him. "As long as we're happy, every day is a honeymoon."
Leon pulled her into his arms. "Yeah, every day is a honeymoon for us."
Then Isabella suddenly said, "We can skip the wedding, but don't think you can skimp on spending money on me."
Leon chuckled, then took a key out of his pocket and placed it in her hand.
"What's this?" Isabella asked, looking down at the key.
"It's the key to the safe at your house. All my assets are in there, including the deed to this house. It's all yours. Satisfied?" Leon said casually, as if it was no big deal.
Isabella felt the weight of the key in her hand, and the responsibility on her shoulders grew heavier.
