Chapter 510 Making a Loss

"They just got back home and are still getting their feet wet. Don't go making a scene!" Todd warned.

Carol, though, couldn't care less. "The kids are all in Maple Valley. So, obviously, I'm gonna be in Maple Valley too. You like Seb and Susan, so you stay with Seb. I'm tight with Rylee, so I'll be crashing with Andrew and Rylee. If the house is too small, how are we all gonna fit?"

Right then, Susan shot a look at Andrew across the table. He was just staring at his plate, not giving a damn about his in-laws bickering over buying him a house.

Susan couldn't help but roll her eyes at Andrew. No wonder he was always buttering up Rylee and Carol. Carol was about to drop $5 million on a villa and a fancy car for him, plus he snagged a VP spot at Prosperity Group. Stuff he'd never get on his own in a million years.

Sensing the awkward vibe, Seb tried to calm things down. "Dad, Mom, we didn't give Rylee a dowry when she got hitched. Let's just call this her dowry now."

That shut Todd and Carol up real quick.

Rylee, all excited, said, "Seb, you're so the big brother!"

Seb looked at her and said, "You goofball."

Rylee giggled and grabbed Andrew's hand, not caring who was watching.

After dinner, Carol, Rylee, and Andrew checked into a hotel, while Seb, Susan, and Todd headed home.

Back at the villa, Susan got Todd settled into a sunny room on the first floor to rest, then went upstairs with Seb.

Seb was changing in front of the wardrobe, noticing Susan looked like she had something on her mind.

"Just spit it out," Seb said, turning to hold Susan's shoulders, looking at her with a smile.

Susan took a deep breath and cautiously asked, "I know it's not really my business, but isn't it kinda over the top to make Andrew a VP at Prosperity Group right off the bat?"

She didn't want to flat-out oppose the idea, worried Seb might get suspicious.

Seb grinned and said, "Didn't you see how pumped Mom was about Andrew joining the company and even wanted me to give him a top spot? Andrew's her golden boy. She'd keep bugging me to promote him, which would be a pain. So, I figured I'd just give him the highest spot under me."

Susan got a bit anxious. "You might be making things easier for yourself, but a VP spot is huge. What if Andrew screws up? Won't that mess with the company's interests?"

Seb chuckled. "I'm planning to set up a new R&D department at Prosperity Group. Andrew's got a Ph.D., so he can head that up. If the department does well, awesome for the company. If not, no biggie. This way, I can see what Andrew's made of. If he's good, I'll give him more important stuff. If not, there are plenty of minor tasks he can handle while holding the VP title. This way, I keep Mom and Rylee happy without hurting the company. The shareholders won't hassle Andrew out of respect for me."

Hearing this, Susan realized Seb had thought it through. He was keeping the family happy without messing up the company. She still had her doubts about Andrew, thinking he might stir up trouble at Prosperity Group. But it looked like Seb had it all under control, and maybe she was just overthinking it.

Susan then grinned and said, "So you're quite the mastermind, huh? Guess I gotta watch my back around you!"

Seb frowned a bit. "It's just basic smarts everyone needs. Without some strategy, how could I hold onto my spot as president? But with you, I don't need to be cautious 'cause I know you'd never hurt me."

Seeing Seb's serious face, Susan realized he was explaining himself. She had only been joking, but he took it to heart.

She then playfully poked his chest. "As long as you get that."

Seb smiled, pulled her into his arms, and pinched her chin. "I didn't check with you before agreeing to give Mom $5 million for Rylee's house and car. You mad?"

Susan pursed her lips. "The money in your personal account is what you earned. Plus, Rylee's your sister. I can't really object."

Seb frowned and said seriously, "My money is your money. We're a team."

Seeing his serious look, Susan couldn't help but smile. She tugged at his tie. "Just this once. Next time, you need my okay."

"Deal," Seb nodded with a grin.

Suddenly, Susan yanked hard on his tie, making Seb wince.

Susan sternly warned, "Remember, you can't be this generous with other women!"

"I don't have any other women!" Seb quickly clarified.

"You better not," Susan said, raising her chin.

"You look so fierce right now," Seb's face moved closer to hers.

"Do I? No problem, the wedding's tomorrow. You still got time to back out," Susan said, looking at him.

Seb hesitated for a moment, then suddenly scooped her up in his arms.

"What are you doing?" Susan laughed, wrapping her arms around Seb's neck.

Seb raised his chin and said, "I'm not dumb enough to back out now. I've booked the hotel, and paid for the dress and the banquet. I've spent all the cash I needed to. The only thing left is the wedding night. If I back out now, I'd be losing out. No way, that's not happening."

Hearing this, Susan pouted. "What do you mean? Are you saying you're only marrying me 'cause you've spent money?"

Seeing Susan's angry, flushed face, Seb gently placed her on the bed, took her hand, and coaxed, "I didn't regret marrying you the first time, and I sure won't regret it this time either."

Hearing this, Susan's face brightened, and she smiled, resting her head on his broad chest. She playfully said, "If you regret it, we can always get a divorce. I won't cling to you."
