Chapter 198 You Have to Compensate
Hearing that familiar voice, Susan looked up, surprised to see Amelia.
Seeing Amelia, Susan thought, 'What a small world. Why do I keep running into her?'
Amelia was also surprised but quickly sneered, "Oh, it's you. This dress is a new designer piece, $12,000. How are you paying for it, card or cash?"
Susan, seeing her smug face, replied coldly, "If you were paying attention, you wouldn't have bumped into me. It's not all my fault. I'll cover the dry cleaning."
"Just the dry cleaning? You bumped into me! This is your responsibility!" Amelia snapped, angry about her dress and seeing Susan again. Their last encounter still stung.
Susan, fed up, said, "If you don't agree, call the police or take me to court. I'll be there."
Not backing down, Amelia grabbed Susan's arm and shouted, "Everyone, look! This woman ruined my dress and won't apologize. Is there any justice?"
A crowd gathered, and Susan's face reddened. She wasn't as shameless as Amelia.
"You want to extort me, and I'm supposed to go along with it?" Susan argued.
Amelia pulled out a receipt and showed it to everyone. "I bought this dress yesterday for $12,000. Do you think I need to extort you?" She threw the receipt at Susan.
The receipt slid off Susan, and her face turned red with anger.
Amelia, hand on hip, mocked, "I know you're just working odd jobs. Seb dumped you and didn't give you much, right? If you can't pay, just kneel and apologize, and I'll let it go!"
Susan glared at Amelia, her fist clenched.
Amelia smirked, enjoying Susan's embarrassment.
Susan knew Amelia wanted to humiliate her. She wished she could throw $12,000 in Amelia's face, but she barely had over $10,000 in her bank account.
Susan had been poor before and worried about tuition, but Amelia had never humiliated her like this.
"Miss, if you can't afford it, just apologize properly."
"Yeah, at least have a better attitude if you can't pay."
Some onlookers advised Susan to apologize, while others just watched or sided with Amelia.
"So, have you decided? I don't have time to waste. If you don't kneel and apologize, even licking my shoes won't help!" Amelia shouted.
Susan wouldn't pay or kneel. She pressed her lips together, clenched her fist, and stepped forward, ready to confront Amelia.
"What are you doing?" Amelia saw the fierceness in Susan's eyes and stepped back.
Just as Susan raised her hand, a large hand grabbed her wrist. It was George.
Susan was about to tell him not to stop her.
George quickly asked, "What's going on here?"
"Ms. Wilson bumped into Ms. Garcia, and her dress got stained with coffee. Ms. Garcia wants Ms. Wilson to pay, but she refuses," a nearby waiter explained.
George looked at Amelia, recognizing her as Sophia's daughter, who had caused trouble for Susan before.
Amelia was surprised to see George but quickly hid it. "Mr. Anderson, you'll do anything for Susan, right? My dress is $12,000 and ruined. If you can't pay, step aside!"
George immediately said, "Twelve thousand dollars? I'll pay."
He pulled out his wallet, but Susan grabbed his arm. "We both bumped into each other; we shouldn't pay for the whole dress!“
Susan didn't want to take the loss, especially with Amelia. She was willing to pay at most half.
"No problem. If you don't pay, we'll go to court. You can just sleep with Mr. Anderson to cover the lawyer's fees!" Amelia's words were nasty.
"What did you say?" Susan, agitated, stepped forward.
"I'm not speaking a foreign language. Didn't you hear me? You're the reason Mr. Anderson's girlfriend broke up with him. You're just a mistress, so stop pretending to be high and mighty!" Amelia's arrogance was palpable, and she spoke loudly.
Hearing this, the onlookers started whispering and pointing at Susan.
"So, she's a mistress!"
"Not worth any sympathy, just a mistress."
