Chapter 320 Jumping into the River with the Child

Seeing Seb's face, Susan felt a bit freaked out.

But she wasn't about to show any weakness. She straightened up, puffed out her chest, and locked eyes with Seb. She thought, 'Is he really gonna hit a chick?'

Seb wouldn't hit her. He was just so mad he didn't know what to do with himself.

Every time he faced Susan, his anger just melted away. It drove him nuts, like he wanted to bang his head against the wall. And yeah, he'd done that a few times.

Right then, his phone buzzed in his pocket.

Perfect timing. Seb pulled it out, trying to be all smooth.

Without even checking the caller ID, he answered. "Hello?"

"Mr. Anderson, it's the weekend. Got any plans? If not, wanna grab dinner?" Linda's voice came through.

Seb hesitated, then glanced at Susan. "Linda, no plans here. Where you at? I'll come get you. No biggie, happy to do it. Cool, see ya soon!"

After hanging up, Seb shot Susan a smug look.

Susan had heard about Linda before and thought, 'Wow, they got close fast. Seb's really into her this time.'

"Sorry, no time to argue. Got a date!" Seb said, adjusting his tie.

Susan felt a pang of discomfort but wasn't about to show it.

She smiled and said, "Don't worry; I won't hold you up. Talking to you for even one more second is torture!"

She really hammered that last part, making Seb instantly furious.

"Leon? Leon!" Seb yelled, looking around for him.

Susan smirked. "Leon went to the restroom. What, Mr. Anderson, can't wait a minute?"

"Of course not." Seb jumped into the driver's seat, floored it, and sped off.

Watching him go, Susan stomped her foot and headed towards the building entrance.

Just then, her phone rang from her apron pocket.

Feeling super annoyed, she pulled it out and saw it was Catherine. She took a deep breath before answering.

"Susan, something went wrong. You need to come over right now!" Catherine's voice was frantic.

Susan's heart sank. "Mom, what's wrong?"

"It's Dorothy. She..." Catherine was so nervous she could barely get the words out.

Susan had a bad feeling. "Mom, what happened? Take a breath and tell me."

"Dorothy took Amanda and jumped into the river!" Catherine said, panicking.

Hearing that, Susan's mind went blank for a sec before she nervously asked, "Where are they now?"

"On the bridge at Riverside Park," Catherine replied, sobbing.

"I'll be there ASAP." Susan hung up and bolted out of the apartment complex.

Outside, she frantically looked around but saw no taxis. 'What do I do? Dorothy's one thing, but Amanda's just a kid. If they jump, Amanda's toast!'

Just then, she spotted Leon coming out of the public restroom and noticed Seb's black Bentley parked nearby.

Ignoring their recent spat, Susan sprinted to the Bentley, yanked open the passenger door, and jumped in.

Seb, sitting in the driver's seat, looked shocked to see her.

"Take me to the bridge at Riverside Park, now!" she blurted out.

Seb frowned, sensing something was up. But he was still pissed. "I'm not your chauffeur. Why should I listen to you?"

Susan hated his pettiness but needed his help. She looked at him, desperate. "It's an emergency. I need to get there right now."

"That's your problem. I have a date," Seb said coldly, though his heart softened seeing her so frantic.

Thinking of Dorothy and Amanda in danger, Susan couldn't waste time arguing. She grabbed Seb's arm and shouted, "Dorothy's threatening to jump into the river with her kid. You need to take me there now!"

Tears streamed down her face. Despite their rocky relationship, Dorothy was still her sister. Susan's heart pounded with worry and fear.

Seb's expression darkened. He immediately started the engine, floored it, and the car sped off!

Leon, standing by the car, frowned. He'd meant to give Susan and Seb some space, but now they had driven off, leaving him behind.

Thinking they might have patched things up, Leon decided to spend the evening on his own and wandered down the street.

The car zoomed through the darkening evening, even though it was rush hour. Seb kept his foot on the gas.

He occasionally glanced at Susan. She was frowning deeply, her hands nervously intertwined, tears still streaming down her face.

"Why would Dorothy want to jump into the river?" Seb asked, frowning as he drove.

Without looking at him, Susan replied, "She met an irresponsible jerk!"

Seb was taken aback. "But she can't jump with a kid. Dorothy's unfit to be a mom."

Susan agreed, thinking no matter how much Dorothy had suffered, risking Amanda's life was beyond reckless.
