Chapter 375 Drunk
Susan's face turned beet red, but she knew trying to explain would just dig her deeper, so she kept her mouth shut. She made up some excuse and ducked into her office.
Sitting at her desk, Susan felt the sting of being misunderstood. By the afternoon, she shot Seb a text saying she had plans with Isabella and would be home late.
As soon as Susan walked into the apartment she shared with Isabella, Isabella's eyes lit up. "What are you doing back here? Where's Seb?"
"I missed you, so I came back to see you," Susan said with a grin.
Isabella crossed her arms and gave Susan the once-over. "You miss me? Spill it honestly. Why are you really here?"
Feeling awkward, Susan walked up to her. "I came back to grab some clothes and my stuff."
Isabella threw an arm around Susan's shoulder. "I knew it. If it wasn't for your clothes, you wouldn't have come back at all."
"How about I treat you to dinner tonight? It's been ages since we hung out," Susan offered, trying to make peace.
Isabella pouted. "Dinner? You think Seb's gonna let you spend the evening with me?"
"Screw him," Susan said, feeling like she had a lot to catch up on with Isabella. Dinner was happening.
Seeing Susan's resolve, Isabella patted her shoulder. "Alright, we're not coming back until we're plastered tonight."
"Drinking again?" Susan frowned.
"Seb's got you on such a tight leash that we can't even have a drink together?" Isabella teased.
Susan puffed out her chest. "He doesn't control me. Let's go."
Isabella led Susan to the bedroom wardrobe.
Seeing a suitcase in front of it, Susan frowned. "What's this?"
"All your clothes and stuff. I packed them for you, knowing you'd come for them soon," Isabella said, hugging Susan's shoulder.
Susan felt a wave of gratitude. "You're the best, you know that?"
Isabella put on a mock sad face. "You and Spring both left. Now I'm all alone and it's so lonely!"
"Then find yourself a good guy, get married, and have a kid. You won't be lonely, and you'll be too busy to think about it," Susan said, knowing the chaos and joy of new motherhood.
"I'd love to, but I need to find a good guy first," Isabella pouted.
An idea popped into Susan's head, but she kept it to herself. She'd run it by Seb later.
That night, Susan and Isabella hit up one of their old haunts. After a few beers, they were both feeling tipsy, but the laughter and shared secrets were worth it. Susan hadn't felt this happy in ages.
By ten, Susan and Isabella stumbled out of the restaurant, with Susan dragging her suitcase behind her.
"Isabella, let me walk you home. A single woman running into a robber? That'd be a mess. They might take your money and your dignity," Susan slurred, clutching Isabella's hand.
"Getting my dignity stolen by a hot guy wouldn't be the worst," Isabella giggled, swaying on her feet.
"Come on, what if it's some old creep? You'd be bawling your eyes out," Susan said, stumbling forward to flag down a cab.
From the shadows, a pair of intense eyes watched them.
Seeing Susan wobbling around, Seb stormed over, looking pissed.
"How'd you get this wasted?" Seb grabbed Susan's wrist.
Feeling the grip, Susan looked up and saw Seb. She couldn't help but laugh. "Isabella, Seb's here to rescue me!"
Isabella staggered over, eyeing Seb in his black suit, and burst out laughing. "Well, look who it is. Mr. Serious himself."
Seb's face darkened even more.
Just then, Leon appeared and picked up Susan's suitcase.
Seb barked, "Leon, take Miss Brown home."
"What about you?" Leon asked, frowning.
"I'll grab a cab," Seb said, dragging Susan towards a taxi.
Leon tossed the suitcase in the trunk and politely said to Isabella, "Miss Brown, please get in the car."
"Who the heck are you? Why should I get in your car?" Isabella shot back, turning to leave.
Knowing she was too drunk to argue with, Leon quickly grabbed her arm and half-dragged her into the car.
Seconds later, the Bentley vanished into the night.
In the back seat of the taxi, Susan kept babbling nonsense. "Isabella, let's keep drinking. We're not going home until we're totally smashed."
Seb frowned at her rambling and said coldly, "Isabella's already gone. Chill out. If you keep drinking, you won't even know your own name."
Susan leaned on Seb's shoulder, closed her eyes, and drooled on him.
Annoyed, Seb pulled out a handkerchief and wiped her mouth.
The taxi driver chuckled. "Sir, is this your girlfriend?"
"She's the mother of my kids," Seb replied, frowning.
"So, you're married. Your wife needs some discipline. How can a woman get this drunk? I'm telling you; you can't spoil women too much. When they need it, you gotta lay down the law. Give her a good talking-to, and she won't dare do it again," the driver rambled.
"You're a taxi driver. Just drive. Other people's business isn't your concern!" Seb snapped.
The driver quickly backpedaled. "I was just joking, just joking."
Seb glared at him but stayed silent, feeling even more irritated.
Soon, the taxi pulled up in front of the villa.
Seb paid the fare and said, "Keep the change."
The driver grinned. "Thanks a lot."
Seb helped the stumbling Susan out of the car.
As they made their way into the living room, Hayden, who had been waiting on the sofa, ran over.
