Chapter 373 Happy Time

Amelia took a deep breath and sneered at Susan, "Listen, my mom and I are living the high life now. She kicked your dad to the curb, and now she's the chairman's wife, and I'm the chairman's daughter. We're rolling in luxury, way better than before. Looks like your useless dad and your mom are the ones getting what they deserve. Oh, and I heard Dorothy got dumped too. She had to beg the guy to take her back after she jumped into the river with her kid. That true?"

Susan's face tightened, barely holding back her anger as Amelia trashed her whole family, except for James.

Out of nowhere, Susan stood up, grabbed a glass of lemonade from the table, and splashed it right in Amelia's face!

In a flash, Amelia was soaked. Furious, she stepped forward, ready to throw down.

Susan grabbed Amelia's hand, and Amelia's eyes flared with rage.

"Susan, don't push your luck!" Amelia yelled, her wrist caught in Susan's grip.

"Push my luck? Amelia, keep this up, and I won't be so nice!" Susan snapped, letting go of Amelia's hand and giving her a shove.

Amelia stumbled back a couple of steps, almost losing her balance.

Some of the other guests started to grumble.

"Is this place supposed to be high-end? How can you let crazy women like her in here?"

"Yeah, it's ruining our dining experience."

By now, a waiter had shown up with two security guards.

"You've seriously disrupted our restaurant's vibe. If you don't leave, we'll have security escort you out," the waiter said, polite but firm.

Amelia looked at the fierce Susan and then at the two burly security guards. Realizing she was outmatched, she still held her chin high and said, "Susan, this isn't over!"

With that, Amelia, one foot bare and the other in a high heel, hobbled over to her shoe. She awkwardly put it on before storming out of the restaurant in a huff.

After Amelia left, Susan sat back down.

Seb looked at Susan, a smirk playing on his lips.

"What are you smiling at?" Susan frowned.

"You were really something just now," Seb said.

Susan rolled her eyes. "Is that a compliment or an insult?"

Seb paused before answering, "For such a tough woman, I still can't figure out how I ended up in bed with you that night."

Hearing this, Susan blushed and playfully slapped his hand.

Susan felt like the whole world was beautiful now. Even though there had been people like James, Sophia, and Amelia in her life, they were all overshadowed by the happiness she felt now.

If Susan could freeze this moment of happiness, her life would be perfect.

She held Seb's hand tightly, cherishing this hard-won happiness.

"By the way, why were you drunk alone at the bar that night, and why did you suddenly stumble into my arms?" Seb asked curiously.

Seb had never asked Susan about this before, probably out of respect for her dignity. After all, a girl getting drunk at a bar and falling into a man's arms to make love was hardly respectable.

Susan now felt ashamed of how she and Seb had met, but it was too late for shame. Besides, if it hadn't happened that way, they, from two different worlds, would never have crossed paths.

Smiling, Susan made up a story. "I was mesmerized by your handsome face, so I pretended to be drunk and fell into your arms. I couldn't think of a better way to hit on you."

Seb was clearly not satisfied with Susan's answer.

He stared at her intently, shaking his head. "Not honest. I don't accept your answer."

Seeing he didn't believe her, Susan held his gaze for a moment before finally giving in. "I was dumped by my ex-boyfriend. He left for another country with a rich woman. I couldn't handle the heartbreak, so I went out to get drunk."

"And then?" Seb asked, clearly intrigued.

"Then I met you. You looked pretty good, so I fell into your arms," Susan said, taking a big gulp of water.

Hearing this, Seb laughed, showing his white teeth. "I bet you didn't even see what I looked like."

Susan had to admit Seb was right.

She really hadn't seen what Seb looked like at that time. She was so drunk that she only knew he wasn't old, was tall, and had decent features.

Seeing Susan stay silent, Seb laughed. "You were lucky to fall into the arms of a handsome guy."

"Narcissistic!" Susan asked, amused.

At this point, Seb suddenly became serious. Holding Susan's hand, he said, "You had a long-term relationship with your ex-boyfriend and stayed faithful, but you didn't expect him to cheat on you. So, out of spite, you wanted to sleep with any man to get back at him, right?"

Seb's analysis was spot on.

At the time, she felt her loyalty was pointless, and in a moment of impulse, she slept with any man she could find. She regretted it as soon as she sobered up.
