Chapter 1102 Growing Up Together
The car drove onto the road, and only then did Skylar turn and smile at Daryl. "Daryl, why are you driving today?"
Daryl hesitated for a moment before saying, "Is it not okay for me to be your driver?"
Hearing this, Skylar leaned back in her seat and laughed. "Of course, I'm happy. You should be my driver for life."
Hearing that, Daryl pulled at his lips slightly, his eyes focused on the road ahead, and said nothing.
Douglas quickly caught up with Cecilia ahead. "Ms. Thorne!"
Cecilia turned around at the sound and saw Douglas, who was out of breath from catching up. "Douglas, is something wrong?"
"I'll call a cab for you." Douglas then reached out to hail a taxi by the roadside.
Cecilia replied, "No need, I can call one myself."
"This is Mr. Fields' instruction," Douglas said.
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned for a moment. She thought, 'Daryl instructed him to call a cab for me? Isn't he with Skylar right now? He still has the mind to care about me; he really doesn't neglect either side.'
Soon, a taxi pulled up.
Douglas stepped forward to open the taxi door for Cecilia and paid the fare.
"Thank you," Cecilia said lightly and got into the car.
Soon, the taxi driver drove away.
Cecilia sat in the taxi, her eyes scanning the receding scenery, feeling a deep sense of sadness.
After that day, Cecilia secretly vowed that if Skylar invited her again, she would definitely not go.
So, when Skylar called her several times afterward, she didn't answer.
When with Skylar, Cecilia not only felt uncomfortable but also a bit guilty towards Skylar.
After all, Skylar was Daryl's official girlfriend, and she was Daryl's mistress. Skylar seemed pure, cute, and very warm-hearted, and she was genuinely kind to her. Cecilia really didn't want to deceive her, which was also an important reason why she chose not to see Skylar.
Although Cecilia didn't answer Skylar's calls, one day after school, Skylar was waiting for her at the school gate.
"Cecilia!" Hearing someone call her, Cecilia looked up and saw Skylar smiling at her.
Seeing Skylar, Cecilia frowned slightly.
She hadn't answered her calls for several days, thinking Skylar wouldn't look for her anymore, but she didn't expect her to come to the school.
The next moment, Cecilia had no choice but to walk up to Skylar.
"Skylar, why are you here?" Cecilia asked with a frown.
Skylar complained, "I've been calling you for days, why haven't you answered? In this foreign country, I was worried something might have happened to you, so I came to the school to see if I could find you."
Skylar was so concerned about her and so warm-hearted, but she was deceiving her, making her feel even more guilty.
"Well, Skylar, my phone broke, and I haven't had a chance to get it fixed. I'm sorry," Cecilia had to lie.
Hearing this, Skylar took a new phone out of her bag and handed it to Cecilia. "I happen to have a new phone that I'm not using. You can have it!"
Looking down at the brand-new phone in her hand, Cecilia immediately declined. "No, I can't take your things."
But Skylar insisted that Cecilia accept it, even threatening. "If you don't take it, it means you look down on me, and I won't be friends with you anymore."
With the conversation at this point, Cecilia had no choice but to reluctantly accept it.
"Well, I've been standing here for two hours, and my legs are sore. You have to treat me to lunch," Skylar said, holding onto Cecilia's arm.
Cecilia already felt very guilty, and since Skylar had just given her a phone, treating her to a meal was not too much to ask.
So, the next moment, Cecilia said, "I know a nice restaurant nearby. Let's go try it out?"
"Sure." Skylar agreed happily.
Half an hour later, they were sitting at a clean and bright dining table, having lunch.
During the meal, it was almost entirely Skylar talking about her and Daryl, with Cecilia just listening.
"Cecilia, did you know? Daryl and I have known each other since I was three and he was seven. When I was bullied by other kids, Daryl always stood up for me. I remember once a boy bullied me, and Daryl fought with him and got hurt. His mom scolded him badly for that!" Skylar's eyes were full of admiration for Daryl as she spoke.
Hearing this, Cecilia felt very uncomfortable. So Skylar and Daryl's relationship started way back then.
"My parents are also very satisfied with Daryl. Over ten years ago, my dad gave him a cherished watch, saying it was for his future son-in-law. So, we are practically engaged, right?" Skylar asked excitedly.
"Definitely," Cecilia said, forcing a smile.
Hearing this, Skylar was particularly happy. "Cecilia, promise me you'll be my bridesmaid when I get married?"
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned.
She never expected Skylar to make such a request. Seeing Skylar's sincere eyes, Cecilia couldn't bring herself to refuse bluntly.
"Skylar, I don't know if I'll be in Northstar City or back home when you get married," Cecilia could only stall.
But Skylar was very determined. "It's okay. You can fly back home. I'll cover your round-trip airfare, so you won't lose out!"
Hearing this, Cecilia was at a loss for words.
"Okay." she finally agreed temporarily.
She could always say she didn't have time later. Besides, once Skylar returned home, they might lose contact, so Cecilia didn't take it seriously.
"Then you should keep your word," Skylar said with a smile.
Cecilia could only remain silent.
Next, Skylar continued reminiscing about her past with Daryl and dreaming about their future.
Cecilia could only listen silently. The meal felt tasteless to her, but she couldn't leave.
