Chapter 353 He Has No Interest in Linda

Seb wanted to shove Linda away, but she was hanging on like a koala. He couldn't be too rough; after all, without Linda's help, Susan's mess wouldn't have been sorted out so easily.

Outside, Susan saw the whole thing and felt all kinds of mixed up. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop, so she took a step back. Just as she was about to bounce, a voice piped up from behind.

"Ms. Wilson, have you found Linda?"

Susan spun around to see Linda's secretary, Hannah.

Hannah's voice was kinda loud, and the conference room door was cracked open, so the folks inside must've heard it too. Susan felt a bit rattled.

"Oh, Linda's chatting with someone, so I'll wait a bit." Before Susan could finish, the door behind her swung open. Out came Linda, eyes all red from crying.

Seeing Susan standing there, Linda froze for a sec. She then touched her cheek and asked, "Need something?"

"I have a document that needs your signature." Susan quickly whipped out the document, but her face was a bit off.

At that moment, Seb also strolled to the door. Seeing Susan, there was a flicker of curiosity in his eyes.

Susan felt super awkward. Now, Seb and Linda were looking at her like she was some nosy eavesdropper. It wasn't her fault they didn't shut the door; she was just there to find Linda and happened to overhear.

But even though that was the case, she couldn't explain it now, as she had heard their personal stuff.

Plus, she had seen and heard Linda at her lowest, begging for Seb's love. There was probably nothing more humiliating for a woman.

So, Susan just lowered her head and pretended she knew nothing.

After Linda signed the document and handed it back, Susan grabbed it with both hands and forced a smile. "Thanks, Linda. I'll get back to work."

Without waiting for Linda to respond, Susan turned and bolted.

Back in her office, Susan shut the door and leaned weakly against it.

What had she just heard? Seb had no interest in Linda; it was all one-sided on Linda's part?

Seeing and hearing this with her own eyes and ears, why did she feel a bit pleased?

Susan ran her hand through her long hair. She knew she couldn't escape Seb's influence on her, and her mood tanked again.

Seb always had the power to mess with her emotions. Susan threw the document onto her desk, feeling utterly frustrated!

Even if Seb and Linda weren't serious, it didn't mean anything would happen between him and Susan.

Susan forced herself to sit at her computer and get back to work.

Before the end of the workday, Susan got a notice that to celebrate the deal between Pioneer Accounting Firm and Prosperity Group, the general manager, Walter Bell, was throwing a banquet. All assistant managers and above had to attend, so Susan couldn't dodge it.

Susan initially wanted to ask Linda for leave because the banquet was mainly to host Seb, and she felt all kinds of pressure facing him.

But when Susan got to Linda's office, Hannah told her that unless it was urgent, she shouldn't go in because Linda was in a foul mood and had already blown up a few times.

Susan totally got the reason and didn't want to risk getting chewed out. It was just a banquet, after all. With over twenty people attending, her rank wasn't high; she just needed to eat her meal and bounce.

So, Susan went back to her office and called Mary, asking her to look after Spring tonight. She figured she'd be home super late and told Mary not to bring Spring over.

At seven o'clock, the banquet officially kicked off.

Walter clearly thought Seb was a big deal, hosting the event at the swankiest hotel in Maple Valley, with two massive tables set up.

To be real, Susan had never eaten in such a fancy place. The space was huge, with plenty of room even with two big tables. The decor was totally classical, with fancy walls.

Susan and a bunch of other department managers and assistants were seated at one table, while Walter, the two vice presidents, Linda, and a few high-level execs from Pioneer Accounting Firm were at the other.

Everyone had shown up, but Seb hadn't arrived. Walter stayed seated, waiting quietly.

At seven-thirty, the two big doors of the hall suddenly swung open, and everyone's eyes turned towards the entrance.

First to walk in was Leon, who stood aside at the door. Then came a tall man in a white shirt and black trousers.

As Seb strolled in, all eyes were on him. Seb had such a commanding presence that guys were impressed, and women's eyes lit up.

Seeing Seb arrive, Walter and the vice presidents immediately stood up to greet him, all smiles.

"Mr. Anderson, your presence is an honor!" Walter, who had been super aloof earlier, was now all enthusiastic.

In contrast, Seb stayed cool, his lips curling slightly as he said, "Sorry, something came up last minute, and I’m late."

Walter said, "No problem, I know you're busy, Mr. Anderson. Having you here is a great honor for everyone at our Pioneer Accounting Firm!"

Walter and Seb then took their seats, and Susan and the others also sat down, ready to dig in.

The dishes tonight were all super fancy.

Susan glanced at the other table, where toasts were being made. No surprise there; Seb was the guest of honor, and the folks from Pioneer Accounting Firm were taking turns toasting him. However, Seb stayed aloof, just sipping his drink, while the toasters downed theirs in one go. They didn't mind and treated Seb like a rock star.

Even there were about thirty people, it wasn't hard to keep an eye on someone.

Like everyone else, Susan occasionally glanced at Seb, but his eyes never seemed to land on her. Instead, he kept his attention on Linda, who was sitting next to him.

Tonight, Linda was unusually quiet, just sitting there without saying a word. When Seb looked at her, his brow furrowed slightly.

Others might not get it, but Susan knew why.

Now, one felt lost, while the other felt guilty.
