Chapter 807 The Initial Encounter Was a Mistake

Susan gave Seb's hand a gentle pat and tried to comfort him, "Maybe it's just meant to be, don't be too down."

As the goodbye loomed closer, Seb knew he couldn't afford to wallow in guilt, so he pulled himself together and smiled, "But with Hayden looking after Spring, we can relax a bit."

"Yeah," Susan agreed, glancing over at Hayden and Spring, feeling a wave of relief.

Good times always seemed to fly by. After breakfast, Seb picked up Spring, played with her for a bit, and then pulled Hayden aside to give him a laundry list of instructions.

Just then, Kathy walked in and said, "Mr. Anderson, the driver's here."

Hearing this, Susan felt a stab of anxiety. The moment she dreaded had arrived, but she forced herself to stay upbeat.

Seb nodded, handed Spring to Mary, and walked over to Susan. He looked at her for a moment and said, "I'm heading out."

"Okay," Susan nodded, quickly handing him his briefcase.

The driver came in and grabbed Seb's suitcase.

Seb took the briefcase, gave Susan one last look, and then turned to leave.

Susan watched him go, feeling a lump in her throat.

Even though he had asked her not to see him off, Susan couldn't help but step outside the villa.

The driver loaded the luggage into the trunk and opened the back door for Seb.

Seb walked to the car, stopped suddenly, and turned around to see Susan standing by the wrought-iron gate.

Their eyes met, filled with sadness. The sky was gray, and everything felt gloomy.

Susan could see the reluctance in his eyes. Though she felt awful, she held back her tears, waved at Seb, and forced a smile.

Seeing her like this, Seb frowned and said, "Go back inside."

With that, he got into the car.

The car started moving slowly, and through the window, Seb saw her watching the car leave, her figure getting smaller and smaller.

After Seb left, Susan felt down for days.

He was like her whole world, and when he left, it felt like he took a piece of her with him.

One day, while out grocery shopping, Susan ran into Cecilia again.

This time, she had a lot on her mind and pulled Cecilia into a coffee shop.

With soft music playing in the background, Susan and Cecilia sat across from each other, chatting.

"Mr. Anderson went back home?" Cecilia asked, frowning, after hearing Susan say Seb had returned to Maple Valley.

"Yeah," Susan nodded.

She and Cecilia weren't super close, but she just needed someone to talk to.

Here, she only really knew Mary and Kathy, but because of their different roles, it was hard to just sit and chat with them.

"Why didn't you go with him?" Cecilia asked, puzzled.

Susan hesitated for a moment and smiled, "He was worried about Hayden and Spring, so he asked me to stay here with them for a while."

"Oh, I get it. Do you miss him? You seem a bit down," Cecilia said with a smile, sipping her coffee.

"We've been together for a long time, the spark of youth is long gone. I'm just not used to it. With Hayden and Spring at school, I feel a bit bored," Susan said with a smile.

Hearing this, Cecilia suggested, "You should find something to do. Sitting around all day will just make you feel worse."

"I sometimes read books on accounting," Susan said, feeling a bit lost.

Cecilia laughed, "There are so many things we can do. If you're up for it, I can take you somewhere tomorrow."

"Where?" Susan asked, curious.

"I'm not telling you now. You'll see tomorrow," Cecilia replied with a mysterious smile.

With Hayden and Spring at school, Susan had nothing else planned, so she agreed.

The next day, after dropping Hayden and Spring off at school, Susan went with Cecilia to the place she mentioned.

It turned out to be a social club organized by people from Luminara. By paying a monthly fee, you could join in on various activities and courses.

There were tons of classes, most taught by professionals. They had everything from flower arranging to piano and dance.

Susan found it pretty interesting and signed up right away.

Most of the teachers and members were from Luminara, so it was easy to connect with them.

That day, Susan took a flower arranging class and really enjoyed it. She learned new things and, most importantly, it helped pass the time and made her days less boring.

At noon, Susan and Cecilia left the social club.

Cecilia laughed, "Ever since I became Daryl's lover, I haven't had the guts to go back to school. I found this social club by chance, so I come here every day to keep myself busy. Otherwise, I'd go nuts staying at home."

Hearing this and seeing the sadness in Cecilia's eyes, Susan felt a lot of sympathy for her. Cecilia reminded her of her younger self.

Susan and Seb had a prolonged and tumultuous period before finally becoming a couple. Thinking about the past was tough.

"Are you really planning to stay with Daryl for a year?" Susan asked, frowning.

Cecilia hesitated for a moment and then smiled bitterly, "What else can I do? I took his money, so I have to keep my promise."

"Yeah, I get it." Susan nodded, understanding Cecilia's situation.

Then, Cecilia said with a smile, "Actually, there are good moments too. I sent $104,000 to my family. My brother bought a house, and it's almost done being renovated. He's getting married next month. My mom can finally stop worrying, and I feel like I don't owe my brother anymore. I feel a lot better."

Seeing the relief on Cecilia's face, Susan was genuinely happy for her.

Cecilia was a grateful person who had just made a mistake, but luckily, it wasn't a huge one.

After a while, Susan tentatively asked, "You and Daryl were really in love back then. Can't you guys work it out?"

Cecilia sneered, "Daryl hates me. He thinks I'm just a gold digger. Our meeting was just a mistake."
