Chapter 990 No Fooling Around
When Leon said those words, Isabella let out a relieved smile.
But then, a sharp pain hit her abdomen. She grabbed the car handle tight and couldn't help but scream.
"Hang in there, we're almost there," Leon said, sweat dripping down his forehead. They were close to the hospital, but he still drove carefully because everything he cared about was in that car.
Leon sped past the barriers and screeched to a halt at the emergency room entrance. He jumped out, opened the door, and carried Isabella inside.
"Stop right there!" Two security guards chased after him for breaking the rules.
Leon laid Isabella on a bed in the emergency room. A gynecologist rushed over to check on her. Isabella was drenched in sweat, crying out in pain.
"Isabella, hold on!" Leon grabbed her hand, trying to comfort her.
In unbearable pain, Isabella clutched Leon's arm, her nails digging into his skin.
But Leon just frowned and kept his eyes on Isabella, not even feeling the pain in his arm.
"The baby's coming! Get her to the operating room, quick!" The obstetrician told the nurse to push Isabella into the operating room after a quick check.
"Leon!" Isabella's eyes were filled with fear as she was wheeled away.
Leon ran alongside the bed, reassuring her, "Don't worry, I'll be right outside!"
"Okay," Isabella nodded painfully, lying on the bed and groaning.
Outside the operating room, Leon paced back and forth for what felt like forever, but there was still no news. He was a nervous wreck.
"It's been five and a half hours already. Why hasn't she given birth yet?" Leon said, his voice full of anxiety.
Seb and Susan, who had rushed over, saw how worried Leon was.
Seb stepped up, patted Leon's shoulder, and said with a smile, "Leon, it's normal for labor to take hours. Stay calm!"
"But it's been five and a half hours, and Isabella had a fall. I'm scared something's wrong," Leon said, frowning with worry.
Susan tried to comfort him, "The doctor hasn't come out yet, so I think everything's fine. The baby is full-term, even if a bit early. Don't worry."
"Okay," Leon nodded, leaning against the wall, still restless.
Soon, the door to the operating room opened.
A doctor in a white coat came out, and Leon rushed forward. "Doctor, how's my wife?"
The doctor took off his mask and smiled. "She had a boy. Both mom and baby are fine, but they need to stay in the operating room for a couple more hours. You can get ready to take them back to the ward."
"Thank you, doctor!" Leon said, relief washing over him, a big smile spreading across his face.
Susan stepped up and smiled, "Congrats."
"Thanks," Leon said, beaming.
Seb gave Leon's shoulder another pat and grinned, "Told you everything would be fine."
"Can you keep an eye on things here? I need to check on Kathy and the nanny in the ward," Leon said, practically bouncing with excitement.
Susan nodded, and Leon hurried off to the ward.
Watching him go, Seb stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Leon is over the moon."
Susan suddenly glared at Seb. "Look at Leon. Isabella's in there giving birth, and he's a nervous wreck. But you didn't care at all!"
"Isabella's Leon's wife. If I got all worked up about his wife giving birth, that'd be weird, right?" Seb said with a chuckle.
"You weren't there for either of my deliveries. Thinking about it still makes me sad," Susan said, her eyes misting up with old grievances.
Seeing this, Seb quickly wrapped an arm around her waist. "That's all in the past. Let's not dig it up, okay? I promise I'll be there every step of the way if we have another baby!"
Susan rolled her eyes at him. "I wouldn't have another baby with you."
"Really?" Seb said, looking at her with a playful glint in his eye.
"Stop it, I'm serious!" Susan insisted.
"I'm serious too, Susan. I swear, if you get pregnant again, I'll be with you from start to finish!" Seb said earnestly.
Susan glanced at him and said, "I'm not falling for it. I won't be foolish again."
Seb frowned and stared at her intently.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Susan asked, feeling uneasy under his gaze.
Seb's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "Looks like I'll have to convince you tonight."
"Just try it," Susan said, raising her chin defiantly.
Seb's smile faded, and he said with authority, "We'll see if I dare or not."
Seeing the determination in his eyes, Susan felt a bit intimidated.
Although she knew he loved her and she could be willful in many ways, that didn't include in sex.
"Stop it!" Susan warned Seb, her heart racing.
Seb leaned in close, his lips almost brushing her face, and asked in a low voice, "Are you scared?"
Susan was at a loss for words.
Seeing Susan's embarrassment, Seb couldn't help but laugh.
"What's so funny?" Susan stomped her foot and walked over to a nearby bench, her face flushed.
Seeing her blushing, Seb tilted his head and smiled. Even after two kids, a few teasing words still made her blush, and he loved how adorable she looked.
Seb wanted Susan to have another kid because he hadn't been there for her during the first two times when she needed him the most. This time, he wanted to make up for it.
"Are you mad?" Seb sat next to Susan and put his arm around her shoulders.
Susan couldn't help but smile and rolled her eyes at him. "I'm used to it."
