Chapter 18
No way Susan could refuse Seb's summons.
A few minutes later, she walked into the CEO's office, heart pounding.
Seb was at his desk, head down, engrossed in some documents, seemingly oblivious to her presence.
Taking a deep breath, Susan tried to keep her voice steady. "Mr. Anderson, you wanted to see me?"
Seb looked up, and Susan forced a smile. She had slapped him yesterday, and he was definitely pissed. Was he calling her in for revenge? Or maybe to fire her?
Despite her disdain for him, she really needed this job. She decided to swallow her pride for now. She had no other choice.
Seb's gaze was sharp and cold, scanning her from head to toe.
It was the same look as yesterday, and it annoyed Susan. It reminded her of that night when they were naked together, and her face immediately felt like it was burning. But she had to endure it for now.
'What's so great about him? Just wait until I make it big and see how I pay him back!' she thought. But the chances of Susan making it big were slimmer than getting struck by lightning.
Seb seemed amused by her current obedience. He put down his pen, leaned back, and reclined in his large leather chair.
A few seconds later, he pointed to the coffee table by the guest sofa and ordered, "Go eat all the food in the lunchbox."
"Eat?"
Susan turned to look at the coffee table and saw a large lunchbox on it.
Although she didn't understand Seb's intention, Susan was really hungry now.
She walked over suspiciously, opened the insulated lunchbox, which was divided into four layers. She took out the delicious-looking food, and there was even soup at the bottom. It was so sumptuous. 'Did he put something in it? There was even a freshly baked Emerald Oasis Eatery cupcake!
‘Oh my God, that's my favorite!' Susan thought.
Seeing the cupcake, Susan couldn't help but want to take a bite, but a male voice interrupted her just in time, "Put it down. You can only eat that after you finish your meal."
Susan pouted and started eating obediently. The dishes were well-balanced, and the chicken soup was fragrant but not greasy, all from Emerald Oasis Eatery, her usual unaffordable delicacies.
Susan ate silently, occasionally glancing at Seb, who was sitting in his swivel chair with his eyes closed, resting.
Although she couldn't figure out what Seb was up to, whether he wanted revenge or to fire her, she decided to fill her stomach first. This might be her last lunch, after all.
Seb occasionally stole glances at Susan, who was eating ravenously, and smiled.
At one point, he felt the urge to smoke, reached for his cigarette pack, but then thought better of it and put it back.
Not long after, Susan was full. She stood up and wiped her greasy lips with her hand.
"Full?" At this moment, Seb got up from his chair, walked around the desk, and approached Susan step by step.
He was very tall, and Susan felt a sense of oppression as she looked up at him.
"Now you remember me, right? I didn't mistake you, did I?" Seb stepped closer, holding an ID badge in front of her.
Seeing the badge with her name on it, Susan frowned. No wonder her badge went missing after that night. It was in his hands.
Susan instinctively stepped back and stammered, "I remember now, Mr. Anderson. That day was just an accident. Can we just forget about it? It was my fault for hitting you yesterday. If you're angry, you can hit me back. How about we call it even?"
Susan felt a bit ashamed of herself at this moment. She was actually showing weakness.
But she had no choice. She still had to work under Seb. She didn't want to starve with her child!
