Chapter 635 Return to the Owner
After hearing Susan's words, Isabella was stunned for a moment, then frowned and said, "Will this work?"
Susan raised an eyebrow and said, "I feel pretty confident about it."
Hearing this, Isabella smiled and decided, "Alright, let's go with your plan."
"If it works, you're buying me dinner," Susan said, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "If it fails, dinner's on me."
"Either way, we both get a good meal," Isabella nodded immediately.
Susan, however, said expressionlessly, "If it doesn't work, will you even be in the mood to eat? So, I won't need to spend any money."
"Oh, you are terrible!" Isabella exclaimed, but her voice was full of laughter. "But don't you worry, I tend to eat more when I'm heartbroken."
The next morning, Susan pushed Isabella to George's wedding.
George arranged the wedding at a five-star hotel, making it a very grand affair, but it lacked liveliness. The flowers, pastries, and wine were meticulously prepared, but there weren't many guests.
Susan knew that today would be awkward for her whether she attended or not. If she didn't go, it would seem inappropriate since Maria was not only her employee but also her friend. However, if she did go, Maria knew well about her past with George, which seemed awkward.
So, after some consideration, Susan decided to attend the wedding with Isabella. She wouldn't stay long, just enough to show her face and be polite.
Today, Susan rummaged through her wardrobe and finally chose a light blue dress. It wouldn't be appropriate to dress too formally, but dressing too casually would seem disrespectful, which was quite a dilemma.
However, Isabella was dressed beautifully in a burgundy gown, with short hair just touching her ears and wearing a pair of pearl earrings, looking sharp and spirited.
As soon as they entered the banquet hall, Susan saw George and Maria in their black tuxedo and white wedding dress, respectively, receiving blessings from the guests. The wedding ceremony hadn't started yet, so everyone was waiting.
Susan also saw many members of the Anderson family, including Seb, Rylee, and Andrew.
It was no surprise. Although George and Seb didn't get along, as a member of the Anderson family, Seb had to attend the wedding.
Seeing Susan and Isabella arrive, Seb just glanced at them.
Leon noticed and quickly walked over. "Ms. Wilson, you're here?"
As he greeted them, Leon's eyes fell on Isabella, who looked stunning today, and his eyes seemed to light up.
Susan nodded. "Yes, Leon, Isabella has limited mobility, and I have some errands to run later, so I can't stay for the meal. Could you please take care of her and send her home after the banquet?"
Hearing this, Leon glanced at Isabella.
At this moment, Isabella lowered her head slightly, waiting for Leon's response.
The next moment, Leon smiled and nodded at Susan, saying, "Don't worry, I'll make sure Isabella gets home safely and won't let you down."
Initially, Isabella was happy to hear that Leon would be taking her home, but upon hearing his last sentence, she couldn't help but furrow.
Susan naturally caught the underlying meaning in Leon's words, that he saw taking care of Isabella as a favor to her.
Seeing Isabella frown, Susan quickly smiled and said, "Thank you. I'll go congratulate George and Maria."
With that, Susan turned and walked towards George and Maria.
Seeing Susan leave, Isabella frowned, and Leon pushed her to a corner, bringing her some pastries and drinks, but Isabella remained sullen.
Holding a velvet box, Susan walked up to George and Maria.
George's eyes darkened when he saw Susan, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
Maria, however, smiled and said, "Susan, you're here?"
"Maria, congratulations," Susan said with the brightest smile.
To be honest, her smile was indeed bright and intentional. Although she was worried about their future, her blessings were sincere. She smiled brightly to avoid making Maria uncomfortable.
"Thank you!" Maria, in her white wedding dress, smiled shyly at Susan's blessing, while George remained expressionless.
At this moment, Susan quickly handed the velvet box to Maria. "This is a wedding gift for you."
Hearing this, Maria took the velvet box and opened it, only to be stunned!
Inside the box was a set of ruby jewelry, a ruby necklace, and a pair of ruby earrings. The gems were large, and the craftsmanship was intricate, clearly very valuable.
When George saw the jewelry, he gave Susan a complex look.
Susan smiled at him, thinking, 'Finally, this item has returned to its rightful owner.'
When she married Seb, George had sent this jewelry to her. She knew that returning it would be futile as George wouldn't take it back. At that time, Susan hoped that one day she could return the gift to its rightful owner because it was too valuable for her to keep comfortably.
Finally, Susan waited for George's wedding day, but she didn't expect the bride to be Maria.
Initially, Susan thought that when George found his true love, the jewelry would find its rightful owner. But she didn't expect George to marry out of spite, and she could only pray for their happiness.
However, Maria, not knowing the backstory, said, "Susan, this gift is too valuable. I can't accept it!"
With that, Maria closed the velvet box and tried to return it to Susan.
Susan smiled and said, "This gift was meant for you. It's just returning to its rightful owner."
"Susan, what do you mean? I don't understand," Maria said with a frown.
At this moment, Susan looked at George and said, "Actually, this jewelry was temporarily kept with me by Mr. Anderson. We agreed that I would return it to him when he got married. Isn't that right, Mr. Anderson?"
Hearing this, Maria looked at George.
George looked at Susan for a moment, then nodded and said, "Yes."
