Chapter 1259 Together for a Lifetime

His intense gaze made her skin feel like it was on fire. Cecilia lowered her eyes and gently adjusted Daryl's tie. "Alright, hurry up. Don't keep Mrs. Fields waiting."

"I've noticed you're becoming more and more considerate," Daryl said, playfully pinching Cecilia's nose.

"How could I dare not be? What if you change your mind and decide not to marry me?" Cecilia looked up at Daryl with a smile.

"Yeah, you better be nice to me, or I might just change my mind," Daryl teased, leaning down.

At that moment, Cecilia grabbed Daryl's suit collar with both hands and said fiercely, "If you dare change your mind, I'll make sure we go down together!"

Hearing this, Daryl pulled Cecilia into his arms. "We'll be together forever."

Daryl's playful expression had vanished, replaced by a serious and determined look.

Cecilia's heart was moved, and she rested her head against his chest, speaking softly, "Let's never be apart."

"We won't," Daryl said, his chin resting on Cecilia's forehead.

Over half an hour later, Daryl and Cecilia arrived in the living room of the Fields family mansion, hand in hand.

Azalea was sitting upright on the couch, Isaac was nowhere to be seen, Elijah was out, and only the butler, Finn, stood nearby.

"Mom."

"Hello, Mrs. Fields!" Daryl and Cecilia greeted Azalea.

Cecilia looked up and saw that Azalea's face was very grim.

Cecilia's heart tightened. Wasn't she invited for dinner? Why did it feel like she was about to be judged?

Azalea glanced at Cecilia and then scolded, "I don't know what kind of tricks you've used to enchant Daryl, but I've agreed to let you marry into the Fields family. Why can't you behave?"

Cecilia's face turned pale with fear. She looked at Daryl, who squeezed her hand before letting go and walking to the couch. "Mom, what's wrong now? Who made you angry?"

"Who else could it be? It's her doing!" Azalea snapped, not even sparing her son a kind look.

Standing in the middle of the living room, Cecilia was at a loss. She gathered her courage and asked, "Mrs. Fields, I don't understand what you mean. If I've done something wrong, please tell me. If I'm at fault, I'll correct it."

Azalea's eyes were sharp and fierce, as if Cecilia had committed an unforgivable crime.

The next moment, Azalea took a stack of photos from the butler's hand and sneered, "Since you want to know, I'll show you!"

With that, Azalea threw the photos onto the luxurious marble table with a loud slap.

"Mom, what is this?" Daryl glanced at the photos on the table.

Cecilia slowly walked to the table, picked up a few photos, and looked down. Her brows furrowed tightly.

The photos showed her and Barry hugging and saying goodbye. Cecilia's mind buzzed.

This had just happened earlier today. How did the photos end up in Azalea's hands by evening? Someone must have been following her; this was no coincidence.

"See for yourself," Azalea said coldly to Daryl.

Daryl looked at the stunned Cecilia and then walked over to her.

Cecilia and Daryl exchanged a glance. Seeing the panic in Cecilia's eyes, Daryl took the photos from her hand.

At that moment, Cecilia regretted not telling Daryl about her meeting with Barry earlier. Now she was in a difficult position, and the photos did show them hugging. Any man would be upset seeing this.

Cecilia's palms were sweating.

Daryl looked at the photos and frowned.

Then, Daryl looked up at Cecilia's pale face. "What's going on?"

Cecilia quickly explained, "Barry came to say goodbye today. It's not what you think, Daryl. You have to believe me, I..."

Azalea seized the opportunity to attack, "Daryl, this is the woman you chose. You're about to marry her, and she's hugging another man on the street. What does she take you for? What does she take the Fields family for?"

Although Azalea's words were harsh, Cecilia cared most about Daryl's opinion.

She looked at Daryl's uncertain expression, her heart pounding. She knew Daryl well—he was proud and self-assured, especially sensitive about her and Barry. The photos did show them hugging, and Cecilia worried Daryl wouldn't trust her.

Daryl looked at Cecilia, then casually tossed the photos onto the table. He turned and sat beside Azalea, smiling. "Mom, I think you misunderstood. Barry and Cecilia are good friends. Barry is leaving, and Cecilia went to see him off. Friends hugging goodbye is no big deal, especially since Barry is foreign. It's common for foreigners to kiss and hug when saying goodbye. Mom, you don't need to make a fuss."

Azalea's eyes widened in disbelief. "Daryl, has your brain gone bad? Are you letting this woman lead you by the nose? These photos clearly show her being unfaithful, and you're making excuses for her? Even if Barry is foreign, Cecilia is from Luminara. A woman about to get married hugging a foreign man on the street is inappropriate. Especially since her future role is the wife of the Fields Group's CEO. It's disgraceful!"

Azalea angrily threw more photos onto the floor.

Hearing Daryl defend her, Cecilia felt both surprised and delighted.

She never expected Daryl to say that. She thought he would question her, be jealous, maybe even get emotional.

For a moment, Cecilia felt warm inside. No matter how harsh her future mother-in-law's words were, she didn't care. She had a man who loved, understood, and trusted her. She was truly happy!

After exchanging a look with Cecilia, Daryl took Azalea's hand and smiled. "Mom, you're overthinking it. Cecilia will be more mindful in the future. Please calm down."
