Chapter 823 We Developed Feelings Over Time
Susan immediately felt that Tyrell was super approachable and started spilling what she had planned the night before.
"Dr. Baldwin, do you have a patient named Seb?" Susan cut right to the chase.
Tyrell nodded. "Yeah, he's one of our VIP patients."
Susan jumped in, "Dr. Baldwin, I'm Seb's wife."
Tyrell looked surprised and gave Susan a once-over. "I thought his fiancée was taking care of him. So, you are..."
Realizing she couldn't bluff her way through, Susan blushed. "I'm Seb's ex-wife."
Tyrell hesitated but then said kindly, "Ma'am, you're not here for a consultation, are you?"
Susan bit her lip and said earnestly, "Dr. Baldwin, even though Seb and I are divorced, we still have two kids. I really need to know how he's doing."
Tyrell adjusted his glasses. "Ma'am, since you're no longer married to my patient, I can't share his condition with you. I hope you understand."
"But I..." Susan started to protest.
But Tyrell had already called out, "Next!"
The next patient had already walked in, eager to talk to Tyrell.
Tyrell gestured for Susan to leave, and she watched as he seriously listened to the new patient. Realizing there was no room for further conversation, she left his office feeling dejected.
Susan wandered the hallway for a while before finally leaving.
That evening, Susan met Leon at a quiet café.
Susan waited for nearly half an hour before Leon finally showed up.
"Sorry, work stuff came up, and I'm late," Leon said, sitting across from Susan.
Susan nodded. "It's okay, I've got plenty of time now. Seb's in the hospital, and it's been tough on you, still working with an injury."
Leon glanced at his casted left hand and smiled. "Luckily, it's my left hand, so it doesn't mess with my work."
"I asked you here because I need a favor," Susan said, getting straight to the point.
"What do you need?" Leon asked.
Susan looked him in the eye. "I need to see Seb's medical records."
Leon thought for a moment. "That might be tricky."
"I have a plan, but I need your help. And I don't want anyone else to know about this," Susan said.
Leon nodded. "Tell me what you need me to do."
The next afternoon, Tyrell was off and not at work.
Susan had Leon keep watch in the hallway while she used a master key she had prepared to unlock Tyrell's office door and slipped inside.
She searched Tyrell's office for a long time before finally finding Seb's medical records.
Sure enough, the records showed Seb had a mild concussion with some selective amnesia.
Satisfied, Susan put the records back in the file cabinet and quietly slipped out.
Shortly after, Leon and Susan walked out of the hospital together.
"I saw Seb's records. He has mild selective amnesia, but he's forgotten me," Susan said, her voice heavy with sadness.
Leon looked concerned. "What are you gonna do?"
Susan paused, thinking. "I've read up on this. To help someone remember, you need to keep stimulating their brain. He needs to see me. If I tell him about our past, maybe it'll jog his memory."
Leon frowned. "But Ellie's always with him. That's gonna be tough."
"She can't watch him all the time," Susan replied, determined.
Leon thought for a moment. "I'll figure something out. You go home and wait for my call. I can't promise when I'll get her away."
"Okay." Susan nodded, though she was anxious.
Two days passed with no word from Leon, and Susan grew more restless by the hour.
Finally, unable to wait any longer, she headed straight to the hospital.
At Seb's ward, two bodyguards in black pants and white shirts blocked her path.
"Ma'am, this is a private ward. Please leave," one of them said firmly.
Susan had been pacing around for an hour and decided to push her way in.
"I need to see Seb!" she insisted.
"Without Mr. Anderson's permission, you can't go in!" the bodyguard replied.
"Then inform him," Susan demanded, her patience wearing thin.
Inside, Seb, sitting on the hospital bed, heard the commotion. "What's all the noise?"
Ellie glanced out the window and then walked over to him. "It's Susan."
Seb's face darkened. "Tell her to leave. I don't want to see her!"
Ellie patted his hand soothingly. "You rest. I'll handle it."
She walked out of the ward, closing the door behind her.
Outside, Susan was still arguing with the bodyguards.
Ellie instructed them, "Guard the door well. Not even a fly gets in!"
"Yes, Ms. Hernandez," they responded without hesitation.
Seeing this, Susan felt a pang of hurt. It was clear Seb trusted Ellie a lot, and the staff respected her.
Ellie glanced at Susan, arms crossed, and said disdainfully, "Follow me."
Reluctantly, Susan followed her to a corner of the hallway, knowing she wouldn't see Seb today but curious about what Ellie had to say.
Ellie stopped by a window and turned to face Susan. "Susan, Seb doesn't want to see you. You're wasting your time. If you keep disturbing him, he'll just get more annoyed."
Susan stared at Ellie, her eyes narrowing. "Ellie, what did you say to Seb? How could he develop feelings for you so quickly?"
Ellie laughed. "Susan, I've been Seb's secretary for years. After all this time, don't you think we could've developed feelings for each other?"
