Chapter 1177 You Still Love Me
Upon hearing this, Cecilia was at a loss for words.
Daryl tightly grasped her hand and said, "Cecilia, stop denying it, you still love me!"
At that point, Cecilia could no longer control her emotions.
She forcefully shook off Daryl's hand, pushed him away, and jumped out of bed. As she hurriedly put on her shoes, she said urgently, "Daryl, don't try to manipulate me. Even if you helped me this time, I won't repay you with my feelings or my body. You better not have those kinds of ideas!"
Daryl was deeply hurt. He stared at Cecilia with a pained expression and said, "Do you think I'm that despicable? Cecilia, to be honest, if I wanted to be with you again, I have plenty of ways to make it happen. I wouldn't go through all this trouble if that were my goal."
Cecilia was stunned upon hearing this!
Then, she suddenly sneered and said, "Daryl, you finally told the truth. You want to be with me again, that's why you appeared in front of me and went to such lengths to help me, isn't it?"
Daryl shook his head and said, "Cecilia, it's not what you think. I truly love you."
"Truly love me? If you truly loved me, would you have married someone else? Would you not even come to see me after my miscarriage? Where were you these past six months? Why are you only coming to find me now?" As she spoke, tears welled up in Cecilia's eyes.
Seeing the tears streaming down her face, Daryl's heart softened. He walked up to her, held her trembling shoulders, and said guiltily, "I know it was all my fault before. Cecilia, give me some time to explain and make things right, okay?"
Cecilia, tears streaming down her face, stared at Daryl for a moment before shouting, "No!"
She stepped back, shook Daryl's hands off her shoulders, and said coldly, "Daryl, it's impossible for us. Tell your friends there's no need to advertise at Vogue Vista. I'd rather quit!"
With that, she turned around, grabbed the dry-cleaned clothes from the bed, and walked into the bathroom.
The bathroom door closed, cutting off Daryl's gaze.
Cecilia quickly changed her clothes with tears in her eyes. After taking a deep breath, and then opened the bathroom door and walked out.
Daryl, already dressed, walked over to her, looking a bit nervous.
"I can give you a ride home," Daryl said nervously.
"No. I'm heading to work," Cecilia replied, grabbing her bag."
Daryl quickly rushed to catch up with her and said, "Then I'll take you to the office."
"No need, Mr. Fields. It's probably best if we keep our distance from now on," Cecilia replied, turning to give him a cold look.
Daryl frowned at her words, "Cecilia, why won't you just hear me out?"
"Because I don't think it matters. Whether you explain or not, the result is the same!" With that, Cecilia resolutely turned and left.
As she hailed a cab and left, Daryl turned to see Douglas driving up.
After getting into the back seat, Douglas smiled and said, "Mr. Fields, the opportunity I created for you and Miss Thorne last night was pretty good, right?"
Although Cecilia's attitude towards him remained cold and distant, Daryl felt even more convinced that she still loved him.
If it weren't for Douglas's arrangement last night, it would have been impossible for Cecilia to spend the night with him.
Thinking about how they had held each other as they fell asleep last night, a warm smile spread across his face, completely offsetting his earlier disappointment and frustration.
"Looks like I should consider giving you a raise next month."
Douglas grinned and replied, "Thank you, Mr. Fields."
"Keep up the good work," Daryl said, intertwining his fingers.
"Yes, I will," Douglas quickly nodded and then focused on driving.
Cecilia didn't have time to go home and change, so she went to the office in the black off-shoulder sleeveless dress she wore last night. It was a bit cold outside, but fortunately, the office and the cab were warm enough. It only felt chilly when she got out of the cab.
As she walked into the office, her team members all looked up to check her out.
"Cecilia, you look so beautiful today!"
"Cecilia, did you spend too much time getting ready, which is why you're late?"
The team members teased her with smiles.
Cecilia looked down at her outfit and smiled, "I set my alarm for the wrong time last night, so I was half an hour late."
Even though she had rushed, she was still late. Cecilia felt her face flush because she was lying.
The office was filled with laughter and cheerful voices, and the team members were all in high spirits.
Cecilia was puzzled when two of her team members revealed the reason.
"Cecilia, you have a way. You landed a $2 million advertising deal just like that!"
"Yeah, I heard no one at Vogue Vista has ever landed such a large advertising deal in one go. The most Calista ever got was $700,000!"
Hearing this, Cecilia frowned and thought, '$2 million in advertising? Did the people Daryl found come to the magazine so quickly to discuss the advertising deal?'
Just then, Marcella suddenly burst in and said, "Cecilia, Seraphine wants to see you!"
"What?" Cecilia was taken aback.
"Hurry up! It's probably to celebrate your success!" Marcella said with a smile.
Cecilia blushed and got up to go to Seraphine's office.
Sitting at Seraphine's desk, Cecilia smiled and said, "Seraphine, you wanted to see me?"
Seraphine smiled warmly and replied, "Cecilia, you did a great job. You landed advertising deals from three companies at once, totaling $2 million."
"They came to discuss the advertising deal so quickly?" Cecilia asked tentatively.
Seraphine took out a document, glanced at it, and said, "This morning, a law firm, a consulting company, and a housekeeping service came to our magazine to request advertising space, and they specifically named you for the promotion. The total advertising fee from these three companies is $2 million. Take a look."
She handed the document to Cecilia.
Cecilia looked down and saw that it was indeed the three companies Daryl had found yesterday. She thought, 'They acted quickly. I haven't even arrived at the office yet, and the advertisers are already here.'
