Chapter 845 Quarrel

Hearing him ask that, Susan's face went red again.

How could she spill those private details now? She remembered how he used to tease her with those words, sometimes even turning it into playful actions.

Seeing Susan's face turn red again, Seb got even more curious. "Why aren't you saying anything? Didn't you say you wanted to tell me about the past?"

Seb didn't really know why. Although he could guess why she wasn't speaking when he saw her blush, he seemed to enjoy seeing her flustered and teasing her, finding joy in her embarrassed state.

At that moment, Susan suddenly changed the subject. "Your leg just healed. Aren't you tired from walking so long? Want to take a break?"

Seb looked around, but there were no benches. "How can we rest on this busy street?"

Susan glanced around and suddenly made a delightful discovery.

"Do you remember that Mexican restaurant?" Susan pointed to a well-decorated spot not far away.

Seb looked where she pointed and shook his head. "I rarely eat Mexican food."

"How could that be? I love Mexican food, and you always went with me!" Susan said, surprised.

Actually, Seb used to go along with her on purpose, but Susan didn't know that.

"Really?" Seb found it amazing.

He had just forgotten. In the past, every time he went with Susan for Mexican food, Seb would go home and scrub himself to get rid of the smell.

"Of course, and you enjoyed it more than anyone!" The next moment, Susan grabbed Seb's hand and pulled him toward the Mexican restaurant.

"I haven't agreed to go with you yet," Seb shouted.

Susan turned back and smiled. "Don't worry, it's my treat. Who wouldn't want a free meal?"

Seb was momentarily speechless.

"Hey, can you slow down? My leg isn't fully healed," Seb protested, taking a few quick steps.

Afraid that Seb might run away, Susan immediately slowed down and smiled apologetically. "We'll order a plate of lamb leg."

"Lamb leg? Is it good?" Seb asked, puzzled.

Susan smirked. "It'll help your legs."

"I can't believe how sharp-tongued you are." Seb pretended to be upset, but he felt unusually relaxed and happy inside.

It had been a long time since he felt this way. Susan was different from Ellie. Although Ellie took care of him meticulously, he felt suffocated. But Susan made him feel relaxed and natural, and he seemed to enjoy being with her.

Inside the restaurant, it was already bustling with people enjoying their meals.

Susan and Seb were led to a window seat by the waiter, and Susan ordered a bunch of dishes in one go.

Seb looked around at everyone chowing down on Mexican food and frowned. "Eating this stuff in hot weather? I just don't get it."

Susan, resting her chin in her hand and looking at Seb with dreamy eyes, said, "Mexican food tastes different in winter and summer!"

Catching Susan staring at him, Seb lowered his head and fiddled with his sleeves. "By the way, you still haven't answered my question."

Susan quickly changed the subject. "Your shirt looks like a work uniform. It's not great quality. I'll buy you a new one someday."

"Forget it, I'm not that picky," Seb said.

"Actually, the bandage on your forehead looks kinda cool," Susan said, smiling at Seb.

Seb felt a bit embarrassed under Susan's gaze, his face heating up.

Just then, Susan's phone rang.

Susan quickly took out her phone, looking pleasantly surprised. "It's a video call from Hayden."

"Hayden?" Hearing the name, Seb's expression lit up with anticipation.

Susan pressed the accept button, and the screen showed Hayden and Spring.

"Mommy!"

"Mom!"

The two kids called out to Susan, melting her heart.

"Hayden, Spring, have you been good? Have you been naughty?" Susan asked, her eyes glued to the screen, her face full of loving smiles.

"Mom, I've been good, but Hayden hasn't!" Spring answered in her sweet, childlike voice.

Susan laughed and asked, "Spring, how has Hayden been naughty?"

"Hayden got into a fight at school," Spring replied.

Hearing this, Seb, who had been pretending to be nonchalant, couldn't keep up the act anymore.

He quickly jumped to the seat next to Susan.

"Hayden, why did you get into a fight?" Seb reached out to grab the phone from Susan.

But Susan quickly moved her hand, not willing to give up the phone.

"Hayden, tell me what happened," Susan asked urgently.

Because Hayden was usually a good kid, he had never gotten into a fight before.

Unconsciously, Seb and Susan were sitting very close, their heads almost touching, both eagerly waiting for Hayden's answer.

Soon, Hayden, holding Spring, said, "Dad, Mom, it was Otis Jenkins in my class. He joined the Aelistania nationality and said he wasn't a Luminara anymore. So I told him that he still had Luminara blood in him and that would never change. He didn't agree, so I taught him a lesson!"

Hearing this, Susan frowned. "Actually, Otis wasn't wrong. He's a Aelistania citizen now, so he's not a Luminara."

At this moment, Seb supported Hayden. "Hayden, you did the right thing. People who betray their country deserve a beating. You should have punched him a few more times!"

Hearing Seb encouraging Hayden to fight, Susan immediately got angry.
