Chapter 847 Dilemma

Seb had been quiet for a bit, and Susan couldn't help but frown. "What's on your mind? Why aren't you eating?"

"I'm just not that hungry. Got full pretty quick," Seb mumbled, feeling all sorts of mixed-up emotions.

Seb's eyes landed on Susan, and he felt confused. 'Didn't Ellie say I didn't love her? That all I felt was responsibility and the presence of the kids?' He started doubting Ellie's words.

When Seb said he was full, Susan felt a wave of panic. Being full meant he was about to leave.

Susan felt a pang of sadness and lowered her head to eat, but the food tasted like cardboard.

Just then, Seb's phone rang.

He picked it up, glanced at the screen, frowned a bit, and looked at Susan. "It's Ellie."

Seb answered the call.

Susan got the hint—stay quiet to avoid any misunderstandings with Ellie.

It was clear he cared a lot about Ellie's feelings.

"Ellie, what's up?" Seb asked.

"Seb, have you finished dinner?" Ellie's voice was sweet but cautious.

"What's wrong?" Seb immediately sensed something was off.

"I got into a car accident. I'm really scared and don't know what to do," Ellie said, her voice trembling.

"Where are you now?" Seb stood up, looking worried.

Susan's heart skipped a beat, knowing something serious must've happened.

"Don't worry, it's not too bad. I called the insurance company. But there are some guys in the other car, and I'm hiding because I'm afraid. I don't know what to do!" Ellie sounded really nervous.

"Send me your location. I'll be right there!" Seb hung up and turned to leave.

"Did something happen?" Susan quickly stood up.

Seb realized he hadn't explained and said, "Ellie got into a car accident. I need to go check on her. I'm sorry."

Susan was startled but said, "It's okay, you should go. It's just..."

"Just what?" Seb asked, frowning.

"Will we see each other again?" Susan asked, worried.

She knew it wasn't the best time, but Ellie and Seb were getting married next month, and she didn't have much time left. She had to seize every chance.

Seb hesitated for a second, then looked at Susan. "That depends on whether we're meant to be."

With that, Seb hurried out.

Susan slowly sat back down, staring at the steaming Mexican food in front of her, thinking, 'Are we meant to be or not? If we are, why is happiness always so fleeting? If not, why are we always so entangled?'

Feeling down, Susan suddenly thought, 'He didn't tell me to stay away this time. Instead, he said if we're meant to be, we'll meet again. Does that mean he doesn't dislike me anymore? That he actually wants to see me again?'

Thinking about it, Susan felt a spark of joy. Maybe there was still hope.

As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, a cold laugh broke through her reverie.

Susan looked up and saw a tall figure standing in front of her table.

"Susan, I really underestimated you. You actually managed to get Seb to have dinner with you!" Ellie stood there, arms crossed, eyes full of anger and malice.

"Weren't you in a car accident?" Susan stared at Ellie, surprised.

She looked Ellie up and down, noticing her clothes and makeup were perfectly intact, not like someone who had just been in an accident.

Ellie sneered. "If I didn't get Seb out of the way, how could I teach you, the mistress, a lesson?"

With that, Ellie slammed her hand on the table.

"You know better than anyone who the real mistress is!" Susan shot back, disdainfully.

"Seb and I are getting married soon. You're seducing my man. You're a despicable mistress!" Ellie's voice was loud, and the previously noisy restaurant fell silent, with everyone watching them.

Even though Susan knew she was in the right, being publicly humiliated was embarrassing. She quickly grabbed her bag to leave.

But Ellie stepped forward and blocked her path.

"What do you want?" Susan asked coldly, staring at Ellie.

Ellie pursed her lips and slapped Susan hard.

Susan felt a ringing in her ears and instinctively covered her face.

"Why did you hit me?" Susan angrily shouted at Ellie.

Ellie sneered. "Mistresses like you deserve to be hit by everyone!"

"I'm not a mistress. You're the one!" Susan stepped forward to retaliate, not willing to be hit for nothing.

But at that moment, several onlookers who wanted to see justice surrounded them.

"Miss, you're young and pretty. Why be a mistress and ruin another family? Don't you have any shame?"

"Exactly, mistresses deserve to be hit!"

"People like her need to be taught a lesson!"

For a moment, everyone pointed fingers at Susan.

Meanwhile, Ellie had already left.

Feeling humiliated, Susan tried to leave with her bag, but a few middle-aged women blocked her way, saying they wanted to give her a moral lesson. Susan couldn't explain herself and finally managed to get away after a long struggle.

Seb took a cab to the address Ellie had sent, finding the police already there handling the accident, and Leon had arrived first.

Seb searched everywhere but couldn't find Ellie, feeling anxious.

He made several calls, but no one answered. Just as he was getting worried, Ellie suddenly appeared on the road ahead.

"Ellie, where did you go? Are you okay?" Seeing Ellie, Seb quickly stepped forward, grabbed her shoulders, and looked her over. Seeing she was fine, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm fine. I was just so scared. I didn't know what to do without you." With that, Ellie threw herself into Seb's arms.
