Chapter 555 Annoyed
After she finished talking, Carol got up and headed back to the bedroom.
Seb's face twisted in a frown as he faced Carol's cold shoulder.
Right then, Rylee grabbed Seb's arm and said, "Seb, I'll try to talk to Mom again. She's just mad right now."
Seb glanced at Rylee and said, "Mom's made up her mind, so let's just roll with it. You're her daughter too, so it's fair she leaves you half the stuff."
With that, Seb stood up and left.
"Seb," Rylee called after him, but he didn't look back and walked straight out of the villa.
After Seb left, Andrew pulled Rylee into the bedroom.
Once the door was shut, Rylee frowned and said, "Why'd you drag me in here?"
Andrew whispered, "Are you nuts? Mom's giving you shares, and you don't want them? Do you even get what holding half the shares of Prosperity Group means? It's worth billions."
Rylee shrugged and said, "Prosperity Group is something Mom wants to leave to Seb. Plus, when Mom handed the company to Seb, it wasn't this big. Seb's the one who grew it. What do I need so many shares for? I can't manage it. Mom leaving me some real estate and cash is enough for me to live comfortably."
Andrew, looking anxious, said, "If you can't manage it, I can help you. It's not about fighting Seb for property. If you don't take it, Seb's already under Susan's spell. In the future, all that property will be Susan's. If she's good to Seb, fine, but if she has other plans, your family is toast."
Rylee turned to stare at Andrew.
Andrew softened his tone. "I'm just giving you a heads-up. It's your call. I'm just worried Susan and her mom will take advantage of you and Mom."
Rylee nodded. "You're right. I'll think about it."
The next morning, Andrew and Rylee went with Carol to George Law Firm.
When Carol asked to change her will, George looked surprised. He hesitated, then smiled and said, "Aunt Carol, why the sudden change? Have you talked to Uncle Todd? Does Seb know?"
Carol smiled faintly. "George, the shares of Prosperity Group are in my name. This has nothing to do with Todd, so I don't need to tell him. As for Seb, I've already told him, and he's cool with it."
George frowned slightly and said, "Just asking. Don't want to mess up family harmony."
"George, can we get on with the will now?" Carol said, sounding a bit impatient.
"Sure, Aunt Carol, we can start right away." George had a lot of questions, but work was work, and personal feelings were personal feelings. So he began the process of changing Carol's will.
After the will was amended, Andrew was super happy and helped Carol out of the law firm first.
Rylee was about to follow them out when George quickly stepped forward to stop her.
"Rylee!"
"George," Rylee responded, not looking too thrilled.
"What's going on? Why did your mother suddenly want to change her will?" George asked, sounding worried.
Rylee looked down, hesitated for a sec, then looked up and said, "Mom wants Seb to dirvorce that woman, but he refused, so she got pissed and decided to change her will."
George frowned and said, "Seb and Susan seem fine, and they’ve got two kids. Why does Aunt Carol want them to split all of a sudden?"
"Well..." Rylee was stuck. She couldn't spill Todd's dirty laundry and make the family a joke. Even though George wasn't a total outsider, this wasn't something to broadcast.
Seeing Rylee's hesitation, George asked, "Did Susan tick off Aunt Carol?"
"Yeah, big time," Rylee nodded.
"Then why..." George started to ask more.
Rylee cut him off, "Mom's been in a bad mood lately. She's waiting for me outside. I gotta go. Don't get mixed up in our family drama. Just do your job!"
Without waiting for George to respond, Rylee turned and left.
George stood at the door for a long time.
In a fancy suite, the guy on the sofa was chain-smoking, and the ashtray on the coffee table was overflowing with butts.
After a while, the door opened. Leon walked in and frowned at the smoky air.
He went to the window and opened it, letting in some fresh air.
Then, Leon walked to the sofa, bowed his head, and said, "Mr. Anderson, your ticket to Aelrystania is booked for tomorrow morning."
Seb just nodded, not saying a word.
Leon, looking worried, asked, "Mr. Anderson, you sure you don't want me to go with you?"
"I need some alone time. Plus, you need to keep an eye on Prosperity Group," Seb said without looking up.
"And you’re not gonna tell Mrs. Anderson?" Leon asked.
"No need," Seb replied.
Leon frowned and said, "But at least let me pack some stuff for you?"
Seb, getting impatient, said, "I just want to experience traveling solo."
Leon had nothing more to say and quietly left.
The next morning, Seb flew to Aelrystania.
For days, Seb didn't come home or contact Susan.
Susan was anxious and a bit pissed.
'If there's a problem, fix it. Why not come home?' Susan thought.
But then again, their family issues weren't easy to fix.
That day, during her lunch break, Susan bought some clothes and snacks and went to Dorothy's place.
When she walked in, she saw Dorothy packing with Amanda and asked, "You all set?"
"Yeah," Dorothy nodded.
Susan pulled out a thick envelope from her bag and handed it to Dorothy, saying, "Be careful on your trip to Averlake with Amanda. You haven't taken her that far before. Since you're going to Averlake, stay a few days and have some fun. Take this money with you!"
Dorothy glanced at the envelope and pushed it back, saying, "Susan, you've already helped me so much. I can't take your money anymore!"
