Chapter 596 This Is the Greatest Punishment for You
In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed. Susan was fully immersed in her work, and the accounting firm's performance had been steadily improving. However, she was very busy every day and only took one day off on weekends to spend time with her children.
Every time, Susan would call Kathy in advance and visit the children when Seb wasn't home, deliberately avoiding him.
In late spring, the weather was warming up, and people were switching to lighter clothing.
That morning, Susan wore a black business suit with a burgundy undershirt. Her long hair flowed as she got out of a taxi, carrying a handbag, and walked briskly towards the office building.
At that moment, a luxury Mercedes parked by the roadside slowly rolled down its window.
A pair of deep eyes in the back seat followed Susan's movements, with a slight frown and a melancholic expression on the face.
It wasn't until Susan's figure completely disappeared into the office building that Seb said to Leon in the front seat, "Let's go."
"Yes," Leon replied, then started the engine, and the car drove into the lane.
For more than a month, she had been visiting the villa twice a week to see the children, but Seb had never run into her.
She had truly kept her promise not to see him again.
For more than a month, Seb had been haunted by his inability to control his feelings for Susan.
He could only watch her from a distance; their fate was now limited to this.
As the weather grew warmer, Susan used her lunch break to go to the mall to pick out some seasonal clothes for Hayden and Spring.
Susan went straight to a well-known children's clothing store, picked out several items for Hayden, then a few for Spring, and also selected some daily necessities before heading to the counter to pay.
At this moment, a man and a woman walked by.
The woman was dressed exquisitely, and the man was in a suit. From their attire and the bags they carried, it was clear they were a wealthy young couple.
The woman glanced at the exquisite children's clothes and frowned, saying, "Andrew, I'm sorry, I can't give you a child of our own."
Andrew comforted Rylee by putting his arm around her shoulder. "Why bring this up again? Didn't I say we could adopt a child in the future?"
"Andrew, you're so good to me," Rylee looked at Andrew affectionately.
"You're my wife. Who else would I be good to?" Andrew said with a smile.
Rylee smiled and lowered her head. As she glanced around, she suddenly saw Susan at the children's clothing counter, paying for her items.
"What a small world," Rylee muttered, narrowing her eyes.
Andrew looked up and saw Susan.
By this time, Susan had finished paying and was walking out of the children's clothing store with her shopping bags.
She was taken aback when she saw Andrew and Rylee.
Rylee walked straight over, glanced at the various children's clothes and shoes in Susan's shopping bags, and provocatively said, "Seb has abandoned you, and you still have the nerve to shop for children's clothes?"
Susan knew Rylee hated her, so she didn't want to have any conflict with her. She calmly replied, "Just because I've been abandoned, does that mean I should stop living?"
Rylee suddenly went crazy and knocked Susan's shopping bags to the ground!
"What are you doing?" Susan couldn't help but get angry.
Rylee pointed at Susan's nose and said, "Susan, how can you be so shameless? Our family wouldn't be like this if it weren't for you. You're a jinx. Your whole family is no good. Both you and your mother are shameless. Your mom seduced my dad, and you caused my mom's death. Susan, I will hate you for the rest of my life!"
With that, Rylee slapped Susan.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed, and Susan's face burned. People around them immediately gathered to watch the commotion, all whispering among themselves.
Susan, however, remained very calm. She didn't fight back or defend herself; she just took the slap.
Then, she squatted down to pick up the scattered shopping bags.
Seeing this, Rylee became even more furious. She pointed at Susan, who was squatting on the ground picking up clothes, and angrily scolded, "Susan, why aren't you saying anything? Don't think that just because you don't talk or fight back, I'll let you off. My mother died because of you. You will always be my enemy!"
Soon, Susan picked up the clothes from the ground, holding the shopping bags in her hands. She looked up and met Rylee's eyes, saying, "Rylee, I didn't retaliate because I do feel guilty about Carol's death. I don't believe I caused it, but I bear some responsibility. If I hadn't gone to her birthday party, maybe things would have been different."
"It seems you still have a bit of conscience," Rylee glanced at Susan.
Susan took a step forward, approaching Rylee.
Seeing Susan's fierce eyes, Rylee, who had been pampered all her life and had never fought, instinctively took a step back.
Seeing that she seemed scared, Susan sneered and said, "I know you've just experienced the pain of losing your mother and are in a bad mood. You can insult me, but please don't insult my family. If you insult my mother again, I won't let it go!"
"Your mom was a mistress who ruined my parents' marriage, and you still think you have the right to threaten me?" Rylee said angrily.
Hearing this, Susan stepped forward and pushed Rylee.
Rylee stumbled, and Andrew quickly caught her.
"Andrew, she bullied me. Teach her a lesson!" Rylee demanded, holding onto Andrew.
Andrew looked up at Susan, who was staring at him fiercely.
Andrew quickly persuaded Rylee, "Rylee, let it go. Don't stoop to her level. Fighting in the mall would be embarrassing, especially since I'm a man."
Rylee always listened to Andrew. She looked around and saw that many people were watching, which was indeed embarrassing.
So, the next moment, Rylee glared at Susan and said, "I won't argue with you today. Seb doesn't want you anymore, and that's the biggest punishment for you!"
With that, Rylee turned and left.
At this moment, Susan took a step forward and said to Andrew, "Andrew, now that the Anderson family is falling apart, are you happy?"
"What are you talking about? Why would I be happy about the Anderson family falling apart?" Andrew replied.
