Chapter 327 His Proudest Achievements

"I only care if I'm breaking your heart!" Seb's eyes locked onto Susan as he spoke.

Meeting Seb's gaze, Susan felt like her skin was on fire.

Seb's stare was scorching, and his eyes were all about her. This feeling of being cared for made Susan's heart do a little dance.

That old, familiar heart-racing feeling came back, and Susan couldn't help but think, 'Oh no!'

Susan had always tried to keep her distance from Seb, always dodging his deep feelings. But after that whole mess with Dorothy jumping into the river with Amanda, her heart and Seb's heart just couldn't help but crash into each other again!

No other guy could make her heart race like this, not even someone as devoted as George. Susan knew deep down that she'd never fall for another guy because she still loved Seb.

The next moment, Susan frowned and tried to yank her hand away. "Let go of me!"

"No." Seb's voice was soft, but his tone was rock solid.

Right then, the door to the ward swung open, and a nurse walked in with a tray.

"Let go." Susan lowered her voice, a bit annoyed, 'cause it would be super embarrassing for the nurse to see this.

Seeing Susan's anxious look, Seb did let go of her hand, but his eyes stayed glued to her, making Susan feel all kinds of uncomfortable. She had to get up and walk to the end of the bed, watching the nurse treat Seb.

Today was Seb's unlucky day; the nurse had to poke him several times before finding a vein, making her break out in a sweat.

But Seb didn't show any displeasure 'cause all his attention was on Susan standing at the end of the bed. The pain in his hand was nothing.

Seeing this, Susan couldn't help but frown. To be honest, she felt a bit sorry for Seb's hand, but seeing his indifferent expression, she felt he kinda deserved it.

In short, at this moment, Susan's feelings for Seb were a mix of love and hate.

Soon, the nurse finished up, gave a few instructions, and left.

For a moment, the ward was silent. Under Seb's gaze, Susan felt the atmosphere was a bit awkward. Glancing at the now pitch-black window outside, she said, "Hayden and Spring are still at home. Isabella can't handle them alone. I gotta go back."

"Okay." Although reluctant, Seb nodded. Hayden and Spring needed her care.

Then, Susan turned and walked towards the door.

Just as she grabbed the doorknob, Susan paused, then suddenly turned around and looked at Seb lying in the bed. "This whole mess started because of us. I'll cover the medical bills."

Hearing this, Seb frowned, and his face darkened.

"But your fancy meals and lost wages are too much for me to handle, so you'll just have to suck it up." Susan suddenly said with a grin.

Upon hearing this, Seb's eyes showed a hint of sadness. "Do you really gotta be so clear with me? Do you really see me as a stranger?"

"Of course not!" Susan smiled and then explained, "You're the father of my kids."

Yep, Seb was the dad of Hayden and Spring, so Susan wanted Seb to be healthy and happy. That way, her kids would get the best care and love. This was what Susan had been thinking these past few days.

Hearing this, Seb smiled slightly, though with a touch of sadness. But, it wasn't the worst; at least Susan didn't hate him like she used to. This was a good start.

"Be safe on the road," Seb said finally.

"Thanks." With that, Susan turned and left the ward.

Closing the door, Susan saw Leon still waiting outside. Seeing her come out, Leon frowned, probably not thrilled she was leaving so soon.

Susan hesitated for a moment but then stepped forward and said, "Mr. Johnson, the treatment's done. Keep an eye on him. If anything happens, call me."

"Okay." Leon nodded.

Then, Susan walked wearily towards the elevator.

Under the dim wall lamp, Susan looked at Hayden and Spring, who were sound asleep, but she herself couldn't fall asleep for a long time.

So much had gone down today. Henry dropped the lawsuit; Dorothy and Amanda were taken back; James got kicked out by Catherine; Seb got seriously hurt saving Dorothy and Amanda, and she seemed to have rekindled some feelings for Seb.

The next morning, Susan, holding Spring and carrying a thermos, headed to Seb's ward. Hayden tugged at her hem and pushed the door open.

"Daddy!" Hayden ran in and jumped onto Seb's bed.

"Hayden, my good boy." Seeing Hayden, Seb's stern face immediately broke into a smile.

Susan stepped into the ward and suddenly saw a back of a stylish woman standing by the bed, holding a bouquet of flowers, clearly there to visit Seb.

Seeing a visitor, Susan hesitated, unsure if she should enter.

At this moment, Hayden looked up at Linda and then tugged on Seb's hand, asking, "Daddy, who is she?"

Seb had already noticed Susan standing at the door. He then looked at Hayden's innocent face and replied, "She's a business friend of mine."

Seb's answer was pretty slick, adding a qualifier before "friend"—a business friend, not a personal one, meaning they only talked shop and had no personal relationship.

Hearing this, Susan smirked, thinking, 'Did Seb say that on purpose for me to hear?'

Linda, hearing this intro, felt a bit awkward. She stared at Hayden for a moment before regaining her composure and tentatively asked, "Mr. Anderson, is this little boy your biological son?"

"Doesn't he look like me?" Seb replied, his eyes filled with pride as he looked at Hayden. Hayden was one of his proudest achievements, the other being held in Susan's arms.
