Chapter 541 Anger

"I'll miss you too," Catherine looked up to meet Todd's focused gaze, a gentle smile forming at the corners of her mouth.

"So, I'm leaving now?" Todd said, but his feet remained rooted to the spot.

"Be careful on the road. Your leg hasn't fully healed yet, so make sure to take care of yourself. Also, pay attention to your diet and daily routine," Catherine nagged on.

Todd kept nodding with a smile, showing no signs of impatience.

A few minutes later, Catherine finally saw Todd off and breathed a sigh of relief before quickly turning to the bedroom to tidy up the bedding.

Around noon, Susan arrived at Dorothy's apartment complex carrying a bunch of shopping bags.

She had gone to the mall to buy some clothes for Catherine, Dorothy, and Amanda, planning to have lunch there and then go shopping for other things needed for the upcoming holiday in the afternoon.

Just as she reached the entrance of the complex, Susan suddenly saw a familiar figure not far ahead.

It was a middle-aged man, burly, wearing a black cashmere coat, and holding a cane. He hailed a taxi and hurriedly got in, and the taxi drove away.

Susan stood there in a daze for several seconds before coming to her senses.

That man was Todd. Even a fool could guess what he was doing here.

At this moment, Susan frowned, feeling very worried. If Catherine continued seeing Todd, it would only complicate things. If Carol or Seb ever found out, it would be a disaster.

Susan then quickly walked into the complex.

After the doorbell rang twice, Catherine came to open the door.

"Coming, coming," Catherine said as she opened the door, and was surprised to see Susan standing outside.

"Susan, what are you doing here?" Catherine's eyes showed a bit of panic.

"Mom, who did you think it was?" Susan's face was expressionless. She couldn't bring herself to smile because she was filled with a vague sense of worry.

"I thought it was Dorothy and Amanda. They went to the mall to buy some things," Catherine said, quickly turning around to hide her unease.

Susan placed the shopping bags on the coffee table in the living room and then looked at Catherine, saying, "I bought a piece of clothing for you, Dorothy, and Amanda. Try them on when you have time to see if they fit."

"Got it," Catherine lowered her eyes, not daring to meet Susan's gaze.

Susan scrutinized Catherine for a moment and then asked, "Mom, why is your face so red?"

"Is it? Maybe it's because I was sweating while mopping the floor," Catherine quickly touched her face with her hand.

Susan knew she wouldn't get any answers by asking.

So, she said, "Seb has invited many of Todd's friends to persuade Todd to change his mind. The New Year is coming, and the atmosphere at home is not good. Mom, it's best if you don't see Todd during this time. Any rumors during Todd and Carol's divorce could directly affect your reputation."

"Okay," Catherine nodded without saying anything.

Seeing this, Susan felt very awkward and stood up, saying, "I have something to do, so I'll leave now."

"I'll see you out," Catherine quickly stood up.

Susan knew that Catherine must have met with Todd earlier; otherwise, she wouldn't be in such a hurry to see her off. Usually, Catherine would insist on her staying for a meal.

Susan then left Dorothy's house, feeling very depressed. She had no one to discuss this matter with and could only hope in her heart that nothing would go wrong.

That afternoon, Andrew hurriedly returned from outside.

"Andrew, didn't you go to work? Why are you back at this time?" Rylee, who was sitting on the couch chatting with Carol, asked in surprise when she saw Andrew return suddenly.

Andrew glanced at Rylee but didn't answer. Instead, he respectfully said to Carol, "Mom, there's news about the matter you asked me to look into."

Hearing this, Carol immediately straightened her back and asked, "What is it?"

At that moment, Andrew glanced at Rylee beside him with a look of concern.

Carol immediately understood Andrew's meaning and stood up, saying, "Andrew, come to my room."

Seeing them acting secretively, Rylee stood up and said, "What are you hiding from me?"

At this moment, the anxious Carol had already turned and headed to her room.

Andrew reached out and gently grasped Rylee's shoulder, reassuring her, "I have something to discuss with Mom. Be good!"

"But..." Rylee wanted to say more, but Andrew had already turned to follow Carol, leaving Rylee pouting and stomping her feet in frustration. She had no choice but to sit back on the couch and wait for them to return.

After entering Carol's room, Andrew gently closed the door.

"What did you find out?" Carol asked anxiously.

From Andrew's earlier expression, Carol knew it wasn't something simple.

Andrew frowned and then walked up to Carol, whispering a few words in her ear.

Hearing this, Carol was so shocked that she couldn't close her mouth!

"Mom, I didn't expect this to happen either. When I heard, I didn't know if I should tell you. But I couldn't keep it from you. It's just... this is embarrassing. I didn't want Rylee to hear," Andrew said, his expression pained.

After the initial shock, Carol was furious.

She then swept an antique vase off the table, smashing it to the ground!

The vase shattered, but it did nothing to quell Carol's anger.

"No wonder Todd is so determined to divorce me. It turns out he already has a lover outside! That bitch Catherine! Is Todd blind? How could he fall for a housewife who has no education, no status, nothing at all? Todd is really pushing it too far!" Carol was furious. This blow was indeed too much for someone as pride and competitive as her.

"Mom, Dad must have been momentarily confused. It must be that Catherine who seduced him," Andrew placed all the blame on Catherine.

Carol then put her hands on her hips and said, "Andrew, come with me. Call a few more people. I'm going to teach that bitch a lesson!"
