Chapter 614 Embarrassment

In her sleep, Susan dreamed that Seb came and blamed her for not protecting their child. Susan felt heartbroken.

When she opened her eyes, she realized it was just a dream, but when she touched the corner of her eye with her fingertip, there were indeed tears.

Susan lay on the hospital bed with a vacant look in her eyes, filled with guilt towards Seb.

At that moment, the door to the ward was gently pushed open.

Susan looked up to see George walking in with a thermos, smiling.

Susan quickly wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and then sat up.

"Vegetable soup is here. The housekeeper's cooking is really good; you'll love it," George said as he poured the soup from the thermos into a bowl and then brought it to Susan.

Although Susan didn't have much of an appetite, she didn't want to reject George's kind gesture.

So, the next moment, Susan reached out and took the bowl from George.

Perhaps a bit distracted, Susan's hand shook, and some of the soup spilled out, scalding her fingers.

"Ouch!" Susan exclaimed softly.

Almost simultaneously, George took the bowl from Susan's hand and frowned, asking, "Did it burn you? It's my fault; I handed it to you too quickly."

Susan quickly shook her head. "No, I didn't hold it properly."

George put down the bowl and fetched a cool towel for Susan to wipe her fingers, then brought some ointment to apply.

"Thank you." Seeing how considerate he was, Susan felt touched but also a bit uncomfortable.

George then sat by the bed, holding the bowl in one hand and a spoon in the other, scooping up some vegetable soup and bringing it to Susan's mouth.

Seeing that he intended to feed her, Susan frowned and didn't open her mouth.

George smiled and said, "You're a bit clumsy right now; I think it's better if I feed you."

"No need, I can do it myself," Susan refused.

But George insisted. "Your hands are covered in ointment now. By the time it dries, the vegetable soup will be cold."

Susan looked down at the ointment on her hands, then looked up at George, and reluctantly opened her mouth.

Seeing her agree, George was overjoyed and quickly fed the soup into Susan's mouth.

"Is it good?" George asked with a smile, looking at Susan.

"Yes, it's good," Susan quickly nodded.

The vegetable soup was indeed delicious, even making Susan, who had no appetite, feel hungry.

"If it's good, have some more," George said, scooping another spoonful of soup and feeding it to Susan.

At this moment, a figure was standing at the door, unnoticed by the two people in the ward.

Earlier, when George went out to ask the nurse for ointment, he might have been in too much of a hurry and didn't close the door, allowing the newcomer to witness George feeding Susan the vegetable soup.

When Seb, panting, finally found the ward where Susan was staying, he initially wanted to rush in immediately, to be by her bedside, comfort her, and face the pain of losing their child together.

But when he saw George in the ward, he stopped in his tracks.

Then he saw George sitting by the bed, feeding Susan spoonful by spoonful.

The scene was too jarring, and Seb was completely unprepared for it.

He stared at them blankly for about half a minute before he understood the situation.

What did this mean?

Seb didn't dare to think further. He took a few steps back in disbelief until he bumped into the wall in the hallway.

At that moment, a nurse in a white uniform walked into the ward with a smile.

Then, the nurse's pleasant voice came from the ward, but to Seb, it sounded particularly harsh.

"Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, you two are just adorable! You make a single girl like me quite envious," she chirped, her gaze flitting between George and Susan.

Hearing this, Susan blushed!

At this point, Susan had almost finished eating, and George smiled as he put the bowl away.

"Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson is so considerate of you. I've never seen a husband so attentive to his wife, thinking of everything for you. You burned your hands just now, right? You don't know how anxious Mr. Anderson was when he came to the nurse's station asking for ointment!" The nurse said to Susan with a look of envy.

Hearing this, Susan snuck a glance at George, who looked slightly embarrassed but didn't contradict the nurse's assumption. He simply smiled, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

At this moment, Susan quickly said, "I think you misunderstood. Actually..."

Just then, the nurse's phone rang.

She glanced at it and said, "The nurse's station is calling me. Mrs. Anderson, I just came to tell you that your test results came out this morning. Your body is recovering well, and you can be discharged in a couple of days to rest at home."

After saying that, the nurse left in a hurry before Susan could explain.

After the nurse left, George looked up and met Susan's eyes. Both felt a bit awkward, but it seemed George quite enjoyed the nurse's misunderstanding.

The next moment, Susan said, "I think I'll be discharged tomorrow."

Since the test results were out and she was fine, she wanted to be discharged as soon as possible. She didn't want George to take care of her anymore because she didn't want to give him hope and then disappoint him later.

But at that moment, a figure suddenly walked in from outside!

Seeing the figure, Susan opened her mouth in surprise, her eyes fixed on the tall man in the white shirt.

At this moment, George was sitting with his back to Seb by the bed.

Seeing Susan's unusual expression, George turned his head and was also surprised to see Seb.

"Seb?" George stood up from the chair in shock.

"Seb, why are you here?" Seeing Seb, Susan's eyes welled up.

She had a lot to say to Seb, but it was stuck in her throat because she didn't know why he suddenly came or how much he knew about her situation.
