Chapter 411 Misunderstanding

Seb's words hit Susan right in the pride. She snapped back, "Seb, I don't care how loaded or powerful you are, I can choose not to do business with you!"

She never thought he'd say something so low. What did he think she was? Some socialite who'd sell anything for a deal?

"Yeah, you can choose not to do business with me," Seb said, his eyes full of disappointment.

He stared at the fuming Susan, shook his head, and said, "No wonder you keep turning down my offers. You wanna test your own skills, see if you can snag other guys with your looks and talent!"

With that, Seb turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

Staring at the closed door, Susan couldn't help but cover her mouth and cry.

Her tear-filled eyes looked up at the ceiling, her hand covering her mouth, trying to keep herself from sobbing out loud.

She'd had enough and didn't want to live like this anymore. No matter how much she loved this family, she had to leave it.

The next morning, when Susan came downstairs, Seb had already gone to work.

Susan called Isabella to say she'd be late to the office today. She wanted to spend more time having breakfast with Hayden and Spring, and then personally take Hayden to preschool.

If she left, she could take Spring with her, but she couldn't take Hayden. Hayden was Seb's heir and had been raised by him since he was little. Hayden seemed to have the deepest bond with him. Although she couldn't bear to part with Hayden, she couldn't be selfish and separate father and son.

If she left, she could still see Hayden occasionally, but it wouldn't be like now, seeing him every day. So, in these last few days, she wanted to spend more time with him.

After feeding Spring, Susan looked at Hayden, who was still eating, and smiled. "Hayden, hurry up. I'll take you to preschool in a bit."

Hearing this, Hayden was super happy but a bit puzzled. "Mommy, don't you have to work today? Why isn't Kathy taking me to preschool?"

Susan hesitated for a moment, then smiled and replied, "I'm not busy today, so I want to take you myself."

"Awesome! I love Mommy taking me to preschool," Hayden said, then started gobbling down his breakfast.

"Slowly, don't choke," Susan quickly reminded him.

With his mouth full of food, Hayden looked up and said, "No, I don't want Mommy to be late for work."

Hearing this, Susan felt all warm inside. Hayden was really well-behaved and sensible. She felt sad that she couldn't be with him every day during his childhood.

Soon, Hayden finished eating. Susan grabbed his backpack, kissed Spring on the cheek, and took Hayden's hand to leave.

As they stepped out of the villa, they saw Leon driving a black Bentley up to the gate.

Seeing Leon get out of the car, Susan frowned and asked, "Mr. Johnson, why are you here?"

Looking at the Bentley, it seemed there was no one else in the car. Seb wasn't there.

Leon quickly replied, "Mr. Anderson left a document at home, and he asked me to come back to get it."

"I see," Susan nodded.

Susan was about to leave with Hayden when she suddenly stopped and called out to Leon, who was walking towards the villa. "Mr. Johnson!"

Hearing her, Leon stopped and turned to look at Susan. "Ms. Wilson, did you call me?"

Susan walked up to Leon, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Mr. Johnson, I need to ask you something. I hope you can be straight with me."

Leon thought for a moment, then looked up and said, "You wanna know who that girl was that Mr. Anderson had dinner with, right?"

Susan couldn't help but smile. "Mr. Johnson, you're too sharp. You know exactly what's on my mind."

At first, she felt awkward asking, but since Leon got it, she didn't feel embarrassed anymore.

Since things seemed to be falling apart, Susan wanted clarity. She needed to know who that girl was and if Seb really had feelings for her.

Once she knew everything, she could make a solid decision to leave Seb and start fresh.

Even though it hurt to think about, Susan gritted her teeth and held back.

After a moment of hesitation, Leon replied, "That girl's name is Maya Bowen. Her dad's tight with Mr. Anderson's dad, and her family’s got some serious clout."

Hearing this, Susan's mouth twitched.

Of course, it was a family thing. Maya was a standout, and the Bowen family was even more prestigious than the Andersons. She'd be a huge boost to Seb's career.

And what about her? What could she offer Seb? Not only would she not help his career, but she might also drag him down. Even a fool wouldn't choose a woman from an ordinary family like hers.

Thinking of this, Susan coldly said, "I see. Thanks for telling me."

Seeing Susan about to leave, Leon quickly stepped forward to block her way.

"Ms. Wilson, it's not what you think. Mr. Anderson isn't that kind of guy!" Leon nervously explained, seeing Susan's pale face.

"What kind of guy isn't he?" Susan asked, staring at Leon.

'Isn't everything clear now? He isn't that kind of guy? If he isn't, why would he get involved with that girl?' Susan thought.

For a moment, Susan was very disappointed in Seb.

Leon was at a loss for words, not knowing how to respond.

Susan coldly said, "He and Maya have been seeing each other for quite some time, right? Are they about to get married? When does he plan to tell me? Or does he want to set up a home in the central district and keep me hidden away in Maple Valley?"

Leon frowned and said, "Ms. Wilson, you don't know the whole story. Don't misunderstand Mr. Anderson. He has always had you in his heart. He has his reasons!"

Seeing Leon's anxious look, Susan didn't believe a word he said. "Stop making excuses for him. I know very well what's going on."

Leon, still not giving up, continued to persuade Susan, "Ms. Wilson, there are many things you don't know. Please be patient for a while. Mr. Anderson will explain everything to you."

Susan thought Leon was afraid of being blamed by Seb for letting this matter slip, so she didn't take his words seriously.

"Alright, I won't tell Seb that you told me about him and Maya. I won't pursue this matter because I know my place. Don't worry." With that, Susan took Hayden's hand and left.
