Chapter 1381 You Are Just a Madman
Seeing Cecilia still standing there motionless, Daryl stayed calm and collected, completely unfazed by the deafening honking and cursing from the cars behind them.
In fact, Daryl casually pulled out a golden metal cigarette case, took out a cigarette, lit it with a lighter, and leisurely took a couple of puffs before extending his hand with the cigarette out the car window.
Cecilia was even more infuriated by his nonchalance, but there was nothing she could do. She pursed her lips in frustration.
By this time, the drivers behind them had grown impatient. One of them stuck his head out and shouted, "Hey, are you gonna move or what?"
"Yeah, have some decency!"
"If you don't move, I'm calling the cops to deal with you!"
"Seriously, who stops to chat in the middle of the road? Get your husband to move the car; we're all trying to get home!"
"I bet it's a couple having a fight!"
"Take your argument home! You're disrupting everyone here, so inconsiderate!"
Hearing this, Cecilia blushed. Those people thought they were a couple.
Feeling embarrassed by their comments, Cecilia shouted at Daryl, "Are you going to move or not?"
"I'll move as soon as you get in the car," Daryl replied, still unhurried.
After a moment of hesitation, Cecilia had no choice but to walk around the car, open the passenger door, and get in.
She was so angry that she slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Daryl then flicked the cigarette butt out the window, and the car sped off.
With the windows up, the car was quiet, the outside noise completely blocked out.
As he drove, Daryl said expressionlessly, "The glass and body of this car are bulletproof. No matter how hard you slam the door, you won't damage it."
Already fuming, Cecilia glared at Daryl. "You're getting more and more shameless."
Daryl responded, "Well, I'm not your husband anymore, so you won't feel embarrassed."
Cecilia was so angry she could grind her teeth. "Take me to the Crystal Jasmine Boutique Hotel, please."
She turned her face away, refusing to speak further.
With Cecilia silent, Daryl also said nothing, and the car returned to a state of calm.
However, it was rush hour, and the traffic was heavy, causing the car to move very slowly.
Cecilia watched the slow-moving vehicles around them, feeling anxious. She didn't want to spend another minute with Daryl, but there was nothing she could do. She could only hope time would pass quickly.
For some reason, despite Daryl's attempts to maintain a cold demeanor, it seemed he was still trying to get close to her, especially with the tactics he used today, which Cecilia found particularly repulsive.
Almost as if out of spite, Cecilia suddenly said to Daryl, "Was it your idea for me to be Elowen's bridesmaid?"
Daryl hesitated for a moment before sneering, "I'm afraid my answer will disappoint you."
"What do you mean?" Cecilia frowned at him.
Daryl glanced at Cecilia and replied, "Elijah begged me to be his best man. As for the bridesmaid, I had no interest in knowing who it would be. I didn't expect them to choose you. That's all there is to it."
"Really? You know exactly how things went down!" Cecilia scoffed.
Daryl's brow furrowed, and he suddenly stepped on the gas, causing the car to screech to a halt by the roadside.
Cecilia, not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown forward by the inertia, her head nearly hitting the dashboard.
"Daryl, are you crazy?" Cecilia shouted at him, her heart still pounding from the scare.
Daryl glanced at her dismissively. "I think the crazy one is you. Maybe you have delusions."
"What do you mean?" Cecilia glared at Daryl.
Daryl chuckled. "I know you think I arranged for Elijah to be the best man and you to be the bridesmaid just to get back together with you, right?"
"Am I wrong?" Cecilia retorted.
"Yes, I want to get back together, but I wouldn't go to such lengths. I told you I wouldn't interfere with your life, and I meant it. So stop overthinking and worrying. I'll try to see you less in the future to avoid any more baseless suspicions." With that, Daryl stepped on the gas, and the car sped back into traffic.
The inertia caused Cecilia to lean back, and she quickly grabbed the handle beside her.
Once she regained her balance, Cecilia sneered, "You better stick to that!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Daryl stepped on the gas again, weaving through the traffic, seemingly venting his anger through his reckless driving.
Cecilia clung tightly to the handle, her heart racing as Daryl narrowly avoided collisions with the cars ahead.
She wanted to yell at him but had no chance, as the situation was too dangerous. She was practically paralyzed in the passenger seat.
Fortunately, not long after, Daryl pulled up to the entrance of the Crystal Jasmine Boutique Hotel.
As soon as the car stopped, Cecilia opened the passenger door and glared at Daryl. "Daryl, I'll never ride in your car again. You're insane!"
She stepped out of the car and immediately bent over, vomiting.
Daryl glanced at her briefly before speeding off into the night.
Cecilia's brow furrowed tightly as she watched his car disappear.
That night, lying in the hotel bed, Cecilia couldn't stop cursing that lunatic.
The next morning, before dawn, Elijah sent a car to pick up Cecilia.
Since Elowen didn't have a family home, Elijah had booked a hotel for her to get ready.
All morning, makeup artists busily prepared the bride and bridesmaids.
