Chapter 301 Anger

Susan knew her weekend was gonna be a madhouse, so she hit up Seb to tell him not to bring Hayden over and to get Mary to watch Spring for a couple of days.

Just as she dialed, she chickened out and hung up. Staring at her phone, she decided to shoot him a text instead.

She hadn't seen Seb in months, and their phone calls were non-existent. When it came to Hayden and Spring, they barely texted, and even that was rare.

Susan: [Got to work overtime this weekend. Can you ask Mary to watch Spring for two days? Don't bring Hayden over. Thanks.]

Seb saw the text and hesitated before replying: [Okay.]

"Daddy, when are you taking Spring and me to see mommy?" Hayden, sitting next to Seb, tugged at his arm.

It was Friday, so Seb had come home early to hang out with Hayden. Usually, Susan took care of Hayden and Spring on weekends, so Seb didn't see them then. He'd leave work early to spend some time with them.

Hearing Hayden's question, Seb smiled and said, "Mommy's got to work overtime this weekend, so you and Spring shouldn't bother her."

Hayden looked bummed. "Oh, so no mommy this week."

Seeing Hayden's sad face, Seb's heart melted. He patted Hayden's head and said, "We'll see when mommy's not busy, and I'll have Leon take you to see her."

Hope flickered in Hayden's eyes but quickly faded. He pouted, "Mommy's been super busy lately. She probably won't have time for us."

Seb frowned. "What's up with mommy?"

Hayden looked up, finger in his mouth, thinking hard. "I think her boss gave her some tough job, and she's really stressed."

Seb sighed in relief. He thought Susan was in some serious trouble, but it was just work stress. Tough cases happened.

But then Hayden added, "I saw a knife in mommy's purse!"

He gestured with his hands.

Seb's eyes darkened, and he urgently grabbed Hayden's arm. "What did you say? Mommy has a knife in her purse?"

Hayden nodded. "Yeah, a big fruit knife."

Seb's heart sank. "Is mommy planning to cut apples at work?"

"No! Mommy's using it to protect herself from creeps," Hayden said loudly.

Seb's face changed.

"Hayden, tell me exactly, what creeps ?" Seb asked, serious.

Seeing Seb's intense look, Hayden said, scared, "Daddy, why are you so serious? I'm scared."

Hayden's big round eyes blinked, and then he snuggled into Seb's arms.

Seb felt a pang of guilt. His serious face must've freaked the kid out.

So, he gently patted Hayden's back and asked softly, "Hey buddy, don't be scared. I'm just worried some bad folks might be after your mommy. You get that?"

"I get it." Hayden looked up and nodded.

"Alright, then tell me what happened." Seb ruffled Hayden's hair.

Hayden tried hard to remember what Susan and Isabella had talked about and gave Seb the rundown.

When Seb heard about a male colleague harassing Susan, anger flared up inside him. But with Hayden there, he kept it in check.

Afterward, Seb handed Hayden some toys and called Leon into his study.

"How's that investigation going?" Seb asked, his face dark.

Leon, seeing Seb's mood, carefully placed a manila envelope on the desk. "I got the info on the guy who harassed Ms. Wilson at the bus stop, but I didn't give it to you right away 'cause you seemed swamped."

Seb shot Leon a displeased look, then grabbed the envelope. He tore it open and started going through the contents.

Leon stood there, nervous. Seb's face was already showing signs of serious anger.

It wasn't just that Leon hadn't handed over the info as he got it; the findings were enough to set Seb off.

The investigation covered not only Elliott, who'd been harassing Susan, but also her tough situation at Pioneer Accounting Firm. Elliott had harassed her and falsely accused her, which was infuriating. Leon worried Seb might go and beat the guy up himself!

Sure enough, after seeing the info and photos, Seb's eyes went cold, and he slammed the documents onto the desk.

He hit the desk so hard that some papers and photos scattered to the floor.

Leon didn't dare make a sound. He quickly picked up the documents and photos and put them back on the desk.

Seb sat in his swivel chair, silent and brooding, his expression dark and menacing.

Seb was now sure the male colleague Hayden mentioned was Elliott. Susan carrying a fruit knife showed just how bad Elliott's behavior had gotten.

"Mr. Anderson, should we get someone to teach Elliott a lesson?" Leon asked cautiously after a long silence.

After a moment, Seb coldly replied, "No, I'll handle this myself."

Leon was about to say something.

Seb cut him off, "Have someone keep a close eye on Susan, Elliott, and Fiona. I want updates every two hours!"

"Yes, sir." Leon nodded. He was about to leave but Seb called him back.

Seb thought for a moment and added, "Also, find out everything about the case Susan's working on. I want a full report."

"Got it." Leon responded and then left.
