Chapter 1271 Wronged You
"Go wash your hands real quick," Azalea said warmly to her son, smiling.
Seeing Azalea's smile, Cecilia realized she hadn't seen such a gentle expression from her all day.
"Sure thing, Mom," Daryl replied, heading out of the dining room.
Azalea glanced at Cecilia, who was standing by the table serving food, and urged, "What are you waiting for? Go help him."
"Okay," Cecilia responded, a bit surprised. Help him wash his hands?
She didn't say more and quickly put down the bowl she was holding, following Daryl out of the room.
Daryl had just reached the bathroom when he turned and saw Cecilia approaching.
"Why'd you come over? I can wash my hands just fine. Missed me after a day?" Daryl teased, grinning at Cecilia.
Cecilia frowned at his words. "In your dreams. Mom told me to come help you wash your hands."
Daryl glanced back towards the dining room, then pulled Cecilia inside and closed the bathroom door.
"What are you doing? Don't mess around. Dad and Mom are waiting for us to eat," Cecilia said, stepping back and looking at Daryl with a mix of fear and surprise.
Seeing her expression, Daryl's lips curled into a playful smile. "What do you think I'm gonna do?"
"I... I don't know," Cecilia stammered, her face turning red as she looked down.
Daryl stepped forward and grabbed her wrist.
Cecilia let out a small gasp.
Daryl pulled her to the sink, turned on the faucet, and held her hands under the running water.
Cecilia frowned, unsure of his intentions.
Daryl squeezed some soap onto her hands and began to gently rub them.
It was only then that Cecilia realized he was washing her hands.
His movements were tender, thoroughly covering her hands with soap before rinsing them clean. He then grabbed a towel and carefully dried her fingers.
At that moment, Cecilia's heart melted.
As Daryl dried her hands, he asked with a smile, "Did I do a good job?"
Cecilia understood his meaning immediately.
His mom had told her to help him wash his hands, but now it was the other way around.
Cecilia smiled, looking down at her clean hands. "Not bad. Keep it up."
Daryl stepped forward, holding her shoulders and playfully pinching her nose. "Feeling proud, huh?"
Cecilia smiled and leaned into Daryl's chest, her fingers tracing his shirt. "I missed you today."
Daryl's heart warmed at her sweet words. He grabbed her hand. "I missed you too. Couldn't focus on my work."
"Really? You're just saying that," Cecilia said, looking up into his eyes.
"If I'm lying, then..." Daryl started to swear.
Before he could finish, Cecilia quickly covered his mouth with her hand. "Don't say that. It's bad luck."
Seeing her worried expression, Daryl smiled, kissed the back of her hand, and said, "I know you wouldn't want me to die."
"If you die, I'll be a widow. It's bad luck. Spit on the ground," Cecilia urged.
Daryl obediently spat on the ground. "Better?"
"Good boy," Cecilia said, touching his nose with her fingertip.
Daryl looked at Cecilia, his love for her growing. He leaned down and kissed her.
Cecilia, caught off guard, let him kiss her.
Daryl turned, pressing Cecilia against the bathroom door.
The kiss was passionate and wild, and Cecilia quickly got lost in it.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Mr. Daryl Fields and Mrs. Cecilia Fields, Mr. Isaac Fields and Mrs. Azalea Fields are calling you for dinner," came the voice of Finn.
Daryl released Cecilia but kept his eyes on her. "Got it!" he called out.
The hallway fell silent.
Cecilia urged, "Dad and Mom are waiting. Let's go."
"Just one more kiss," Daryl said, leaning in again.
Cecilia pushed against his chest, frowning. "Stop it, or Mom will scold me again!"
Seeing her worried expression, Daryl said, "Sorry for putting you through this."
Cecilia felt a pang of sadness but knew being a daughter-in-law in a wealthy family wasn't easy.
She softly said, "Let's go eat. We can be close later tonight."
"You said it, no backing out!" Daryl smiled, opening the bathroom door for her.
When Daryl and Cecilia returned to the dining room, Azalea was visibly displeased. "Washing hands took that long? Your father is hungry."
"Mom, you should have started without us," Daryl said, sitting down with a smile.
Cecilia sat down next to Daryl, feeling tense.
"We don't start without everyone. That's our family rule," Azalea said, glancing at Cecilia.
Clearly, the comment was directed at Cecilia, who lowered her head.
Isaac spoke up, "Alright, let's eat."
With Isaac's words, Azalea fell silent.
The Fields family began eating, chatting occasionally. Cecilia stayed quiet, afraid to say something wrong and upset Azalea.
After dinner, Daryl was pulled into the living room by Azalea for a chat.
Cecilia stayed in the kitchen, directing the maids to clean up and wash the expensive dishes.
Daryl chatted with his mother but kept glancing towards the kitchen.
Seeing her son's distraction, Azalea smirked. "Feeling sorry for her?"
