Chapter 1060 Rented Out
"I should thank you for your care," Cecilia said sulkily, staring at the back of the swivel chair.
Hearing this, Daryl instantly turned the chair around and yelled at Cecilia, "What kind of woman are you? How can you have no sense of shame at all?"
Seeing Daryl's furious expression, Cecilia replied innocently, "I don't have any shame left. In your eyes, I'm just a purchase!"
Upon hearing this, Daryl suddenly stood up and swept a pen holder off the desk onto the floor.
"Get out! Get out of here right now, you make me sick!" Daryl shouted, slapping the desk.
He didn't know why he couldn't control his emotions at all. He could only drive her away because if she stayed, he didn't know what extreme actions he might take.
Seeing the look of disgust in Daryl's eyes, Cecilia felt a pang in her heart. She then turned and silently left.
Cecilia didn't know how she managed to walk out of the building. Near a park, she felt physically and mentally exhausted and sat on a bench, lost in thought.
He said he was willing to buy her, but then angrily drove her out. Was he going to change his mind?
If he changed his mind, Cecilia wouldn't know what to do. Quentin was still lying in the hospital, and his fiancée's family was still pressuring them to break up.
It wasn't until the next afternoon that the anxious Cecilia received a call from an unknown number.
"Is this Ms. Thorne?" A male voice asked on the other end.
"Yes, who is this?" Cecilia asked, frowning.
"Hello, I'm Mr. Fields' special assistant. Mr. Fields has asked me to contact you. Do you have time to meet with me now?" The man on the other end asked politely.
After waiting a whole day and night, Cecilia thought Daryl had changed his mind. She didn't expect him to have his staff contact her.
Cecilia agreed without hesitation.
Half an hour later, Cecilia arrived at the prearranged café.
As soon as she walked in, she saw a man in a black suit standing up and waving at her from a window seat.
Cecilia took a closer look and recognized him as Daryl's driver, whom she had seen twice before.
The next moment, Cecilia walked over and sat down across from the man.
Cecilia knew he must have been sent by Daryl, probably to discuss buying her. She thought to herself mockingly.
The man then smiled and said, "Ms. Thorne, I'm Mr. Fields' special assistant. You can call me Douglas."
Cecilia didn't want to engage in small talk and got straight to the point. "Douglas, get to the point."
Hearing this, Douglas nodded and took out a document from a folder, placing two copies in front of Cecilia.
"This is..." Cecilia's heart tightened when she saw the title "Purchase Agreement" on the document.
Turned out, Daryl didn't still have feelings for her. He just wanted to humiliate her because she had hurt his feelings and pride.
However, Cecilia didn't know if Daryl had genuine feelings for her or was just playing with her. He had hidden his true identity from her, so she didn't know his initial motives. But undeniably, she had indeed angered him.
He was a rich second-generation heir, probably used to being the center of attention. It must have been hard for him to accept being dumped by an ordinary girl like her. That was his real sore spot.
Sensing Cecilia's confusion, Douglas said, "Ms. Thorne, Mr. Fields thought a written agreement would better protect both parties' rights. If you have no objections, please sign and fingerprint it. I'll have the finance department transfer the money to your account as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Cecilia picked up the contract and quickly scanned the terms.
The agreement wasn't long but was very clear. Daryl had been buying her for a year. During that year, she had to meet all his legal demands and couldn't get too close to any other men. The payment was $104,000. If either party breached the contract, they would pay the other ten times the compensation.
This money was enough to buy a two-bedroom house in Quentin's hometown, cover Quentin's medical expenses, pay for Quentin's wedding, and still have some left for Rainey's long-term illness treatment.
She was satisfied with this amount. After all, it was just a year of her body, and she wouldn't have to neglect her studies. For her, it was a good deal, even if it meant sacrificing her pride and dignity.
Thinking of this, Cecilia's nose tingled, and she quickly looked up at the ceiling to hold back her tears. She then asked, "When can I get the money?"
Douglas thought for a moment and replied, "Within 24 hours."
Cecilia was satisfied with this answer. She then picked up the pen and signed her name on both copies of the agreement without hesitation, also adding her fingerprints.
Douglas checked the signatures and nodded in satisfaction. "Ms. Thorne, please go home and pack your things. I'll come to pick you up at this time tomorrow."
"Pick me up? Do I need to move?" Cecilia asked, surprised.
At this point, Douglas chuckled. "Of course, you need to live at Mr. Fields' house. Otherwise, how could you..."
He suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
At this moment, Cecilia blushed at her own foolishness.
After signing the agreement, she was Daryl's bedmate. Naturally, she should live at his house to meet his needs at any time. Such a simple truth didn't even need to be asked. No wonder Douglas chuckled.
The next moment, Cecilia stood up and said, "See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow." Douglas quickly stood up as well.
Cecilia took her copy of the contract from the table and walked out of the café.
Back at her rented apartment, Cecilia placed the contract on the table and began packing her things.
She didn't have much to pack, just a few simple clothes and some daily necessities, mostly books.
One year, she had rented herself out for one year. After a year, she would almost be graduating, and she would leave Northstar City, which had brought her endless humiliation. But from now on, she had to endure this difficult year.
After lying to her roommate Violet that she was moving in with her boyfriend, Cecilia lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling.
