Chapter 943 Is He Pursuing Me

Hearing the water running in the kitchen, Isabella, lounging on the couch, hugged a soft pillow, her eyes twinkling like crescent moons.

Isabella was chilling with the TV on while Leon had been hustling in the kitchen for a good half hour. Then he dashed to the living room to wipe the table, mop the floor, and take out the trash.

By the time Leon wrapped everything up, it was pushing 9 PM.

The night outside was pitch black, and the cozy lights inside made it feel like you never wanted to leave.

"Mr. Johnson, how about a cup of tea and a break?" Isabella placed a cup of tea on the coffee table.

Isabella never thought Leon could handle everything so well, even better than her. She felt a bit embarrassed in front of him.

Leon nodded and plopped down on the couch, sitting a few feet away from Isabella.

He picked up the cup and took a sip.

"Hey, how are you so good at housework? Did you pick up these skills as a kid?" Isabella asked, curious.

Leon's eyes flickered, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Is it wrong that I like doing housework and cooking?"

Hearing his somewhat stiff tone, Isabella pursed her lips. "Of course not! I'm just curious how a guy can do everything so well."

Leon's face darkened, and he immediately stood up. "It's late, I should go."

Isabella frowned. 'We were having a good conversation, why leave so suddenly? He's so unpredictable.'

When Leon reached the door, he suddenly turned to Isabella, still on the couch, and said, "I'll pick you up for work at 7:30 AM tomorrow."

Isabella was stunned.

Seeing her staring at him in a daze, Leon added, "I'll take you to breakfast first, then to work. You better be ready on time, or you'll be late."

Without waiting for her response, Leon walked out the door.

It wasn't until she heard the door close that Isabella realized what was happening.

She couldn't help but think, 'What does he mean? He wants to take me to work? And treat me to breakfast? What's going on? Is he pursuing me?'

For a moment, Isabella looked around the spotless house, touched her flushed face, and confidently thought, 'He must be. Why else would he go to such lengths to cook for me, clean my house, and offer to drive me to work?'

Thinking of this, Isabella hugged the pillow and giggled foolishly.

That night, Isabella slept like a baby, probably the best sleep she had since coming back from Avaloria.

At six o'clock, Isabella woke up.

She picked out a pink and purple outfit from her wardrobe and put it on, then applied some light makeup. By the time she was ready, it was not yet seven o'clock.

Thinking of the pasta he made for her last night, Isabella excitedly sent Leon a text message.

Isabella: [Breakfast outside isn't hygienic. I made breakfast, come over and eat.]

After sending the text, Isabella limped to the kitchen and whipped up a simple breakfast.

When the eggs and sandwiches were on the table, Isabella's phone still hadn't buzzed with a reply from Leon.

Looking at the clock on the wall, it was already 7:28. Isabella frowned, thinking, 'Did he not get my message? Why hasn't he replied?'

She worried that Leon hadn't seen her text, but knowing how punctual he was, she figured he'd still show up.

Sure enough, at 7:30, there was a knock on the door.

Isabella knew it was Leon and happily went to open it. She couldn't hide her joy.

Opening the door, there stood Leon, dressed in a sharp black suit.

"Did you see the message I sent you?" Isabella asked, unable to contain her curiosity.

"I saw it," Leon replied, expressionless, as he walked in.

"If you saw it, why didn't you reply?" Isabella pressed.

By this time, Leon had already made his way to the dining table. He glanced at the breakfast spread, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over the back of a chair. "Time was tight, I didn't have a chance to reply," he said.

With that, Leon sat down and started eating without hesitation.

Seeing him act so at home, Isabella couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

She sat across from him, picked up her utensils, and started eating too.

Leon began critiquing the food. "The eggs are overcooked, almost burnt. The bread is dry; you probably didn't store it properly."

Isabella couldn't take it anymore and interrupted, "I made you breakfast out of kindness, and you're criticizing it? Can you consider my feelings?"

Leon looked at her seriously. "I appreciate you making breakfast, but I'm just being honest. This way, you can improve in the future."

Realizing they were on different wavelengths, Isabella waved her hand dismissively. "Alright, just hurry up and eat, or we'll be late."

She lowered her head and continued eating, ignoring Leon.

The table fell silent, with only the sound of chewing.

When Isabella looked up again, she saw that Leon had finished all the breakfast in front of him, not leaving a single crumb.

She couldn't help but frown. "You were just criticizing it, but you ate it all up!"

Leon smirked, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said, "It tasted okay. Remember what I said, you'll do much better tomorrow."

Isabella's eyes widened. 'What does he mean? Does he expect me to make breakfast again tomorrow?'

Seeing her questioning look, Leon said, "I'll make you dinner, and you make me breakfast. It's fair!"

"Are you coming over tonight?" Isabella never dreamed he would say that, and she felt a mix of excitement and thrill.

Leon looked at her and replied, "As long as I don't have social engagements or work, I'll come over to make you dinner. I have many signature dishes, and I promise not to repeat any for a month."
