Chapter 1019 Divorce

Seeing this, Bronte yanked Leon away, even throwing a smug look back at Isabella, a victorious grin plastered on her face.

Watching them leave, Isabella felt like her heart was being ripped apart, clutching Milo tightly in her arms.

Meanwhile, Milo was all smiles, oblivious to Isabella's pain, his little hands grabbing at everything in sight.

"That's just too much! How can he be so arrogant? What's up with Leon today? He just left with that woman, didn't even think about Isabella's feelings!" Susan was so mad she was about to slam the table.

Seb glanced at Isabella and then gave Susan a look. "Leon’s usually pretty level-headed. Something big must be going down at his company."

Susan realized she shouldn't be saying this in front of Isabella, but she just couldn't help it.

"I'm sorry, Isabella," Susan apologized.

Isabella, however, said flatly, "Milo's getting sleepy. Take us home."

"Okay." Seeing Isabella's lifeless look, Susan could only nod.

Seb continued eating with Hayden and Spring, while Susan and the driver took Isabella and Milo home.

Susan knew that nothing she said would help right now, so she just stayed quietly by Isabella's side.

Isabella sat on the bed holding Milo, not saying a word.

"Isabella, don't be too upset. Maybe things aren't what they seem," Susan tried to comfort her.

Isabella sneered. "You still think there's nothing between them?"

Susan was momentarily speechless because Leon's actions today were definitely out of line.

Even if something big was happening at the company, he could have let Bronte leave first; he didn't have to go with her. This not only made Isabella sad but also humiliated her.

"You're not defending him now, are you? You think the same as I do—that their relationship isn't that simple," Isabella said, her eyes already brimming with tears.

"So what do you want to do?" Susan asked.

"My mind is a mess, I don't know," Isabella said, tears streaming down her face.

Seeing Isabella's sorrowful look and the innocent Milo in her arms, Susan felt a pang of sadness.

At that moment, something miraculous happened. Although Milo's eyes were full of confusion, when he saw Isabella crying, he reached out his chubby little hand to wipe her tears.

Feeling the warmth of that little hand, Isabella looked down at Milo staring at her and couldn't hold back, bursting into tears.

Milo, being so young, was immediately frightened by Isabella's crying and started crying too.

Seeing this, Susan quickly took Milo into her arms and complained to Isabella, "You need to control your emotions in front of Milo. Look, you've scared him!"

Susan walked back and forth in the bedroom with Milo, using toys to distract him.

At that moment, Isabella realized her mistake. Although her heart was in agony, she was a mother and knew she had to control herself, for Milo's sake.

The next moment, Isabella wiped the tears from her cheeks with the back of her hand and quickly pulled herself together.

Then, she walked over to Susan and took Milo back into her arms.

"Milo, I'm sorry I scared you. It won't happen again," Isabella said, soothing him.

Soon, Milo stopped crying, probably tired, and quickly fell asleep in Isabella's arms.

Isabella gently placed Milo on the bed and covered him with a blanket.

"It's late, you should go home," Isabella said to Susan.

"I'll stay with you a little longer," Susan replied, still worried.

Isabella suddenly smiled. "I know you're worried, but don't be. I won't do anything rash or mistreat myself. Haven't I gotten through the toughest times before? Besides, I'm not alone now. I have Milo, and he needs me. I have to raise him well, don't you think?"

Hearing this, Susan, who had been worried, finally relaxed a bit.

They had faced so much over the years and survived tougher times, so they could definitely get through being betrayed by a loved one.

Susan held Isabella's hand. "No matter what decision you make, I'll support you, as long as you make sure you're okay!"

"Okay." Isabella nodded.

After Susan left, Isabella leaned against the headboard, staring at the sleeping Milo, feeling that he was the only thing keeping her going now.

If she had held any hope that there was nothing between Leon and Bronte before today, today's events had completely shattered that hope.

In fact, today, Leon had already made his choice. Since that was the case, there was no need for her to hold on any longer.

That night, the dimly lit bar was packed.

In a corner, two men were talking while drowning their sorrows in alcohol.

Seb, watching Leon down several drinks in a row, frowned and asked, "I think you should go home and explain to Isabella, not sit here drinking."

"Do you think she would listen to my explanation? Even if she did, would she believe it?" Leon said bitterly.

"Your actions today really hurt her," Seb said.

Leon gave a bitter smile. "I had no choice."

With that, Leon tilted his head back and downed a glass of strong liquor.

After a night of intense inner struggle, Isabella walked into the dining room the next morning, fully dressed.

She knew that Leon should be having breakfast in the dining room at this time. In the past, to avoid him, she would still be in bed at this hour.

Today, she got up early, found an outfit to wear out, neatly did her hair, and put on light makeup.

Even if they were breaking up, she didn't want to look disheveled, or let him see her sadness and pity.

When Isabella appeared in the dining room, Leon, who was eating breakfast alone, was stunned.

Their gaze met in the air, one pair of eyes gloomy, the other calm and composed.

Isabella walked to a seat in front of Leon and sat down, her face cold.

"I want to talk to you," Isabella said directly, not wanting to beat around the bush.

"About what?" Leon seemed to have a premonition.

"Divorce," Isabella said.

The word was heavy. Although Isabella was mentally prepared, when she said it, her heart was not as calm as her face.
