Chapter 295 Utterly Disgusted
It was scorching hot, and Susan could catch a whiff of Elliott's nasty BO, making her stomach churn.
"Thanks, but I'm good," Susan shot back, ice-cold, and got up.
But Elliott saw his chance and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Startled, Susan shoved him away, yelling, "What the hell are you doing? Let go of me right now!"
Elliott didn't back off; instead, he got even closer. "Susan, I've liked you since day one. If you agree to be with me, I'll help you with this case and get you a permanent spot. Your problems will be my problems."
Hearing his gross confession, Susan pushed him with all her might. But he was too strong. "Elliott, let go, or I'll scream."
Elliott just smirked and started kissing and biting her face. "It's after hours, and only the cleaning staff is around. But the cleaner's deaf; she can't hear a thing!"
After getting kissed on her face twice, Susan caught a whiff of his nasty breath. Panicking, she slapped him hard across the face!
The slap echoed in the room.
Elliott was stunned, clearly not expecting Susan to hit him.
Taking advantage of his shock, Susan shoved him, making him stumble. She pointed at him, "You dare touch again, and I'll call the cops!"
She grabbed her phone, unlocked it, and got ready to dial.
Elliott, covering his red face, was both embarrassed and pissed. "Bitch, you win this time!"
He stormed out, fuming.
After he left, Susan grabbed a wet wipe and scrubbed her face, still feeling grossed out.
When she got home and put Spring to bed, she vented to Isabella about her crappy day.
Isabella was livid. "That dirtbag! You should've called the cops right then! Let his wife bail him out and see how he scrambles."
Susan sighed, "I'm still working at Pioneer Accounting Firm. As long as he leaves me alone, I'll let it slide."
Isabella laughed, "That's so un-you. Normally, you'd make scum like him pay!"
Susan shrugged, "I've got kids to raise now, okay? I was young and reckless before. Think I've only aged without getting any wiser?"
"That's growth!" Isabella gave her a thumbs up.
Then, Susan pulled out the tricky file Fiona had given her.
"Isabella, can you help me figure out what's so tough about this case? It doesn't seem that hard, but I've heard several accountants couldn't meet the client's demands," Susan said, frowning.
Isabella glanced at the file and said, "On the surface, it looks easy. I bet there's some shady stuff going on with this budget."
"Shady stuff?" Susan asked, puzzled.
"Doing accounting for a company is a whole different ball game compared to an accounting firm. Sometimes bosses want you to do shady stuff, but accountants don't wanna take the fall, so the client is never happy. I've seen a ton of cases like this in the past couple of years. I got a plan. Tomorrow, hit up the previous accountants who worked on this case and see what dirt you can dig up. Then, let me check out the company name. Capgemini Software Company, huh? I'll ask my boss about it. He's super sharp and respected in the industry; he'll spot any issues right away," Isabella said with a grin.
Susan finally exhaled in relief. "Thank goodness I have you to back me up."
"You always lean on me instead of the big shot," Isabella said, her eyes dimming.
"Who are you talking about?" Susan asked, confused.
Isabella pointed to Spring, who was snoozing on the sofa bed. "Her dad!"
Realizing who Isabella meant, Susan pursed her lips.
Isabella went on, "Look, we both know how good Seb is in the accounting world. He could totally handle this. To us, he's a big deal!"
"You know I don't want any interaction with him except for the kids," Susan said firmly.
Lately, Seb hadn't shown up in front of Susan at all. Maybe she really bruised his ego last time. Whenever he picked up or dropped off Hayden and Spring, he either sent a car or stayed in the car without coming out. He was totally avoiding Susan.
Other than Hayden and Spring, Susan had no other ties with Seb, and she was cool with this peaceful setup.
Plus, Susan didn't want to rely on Seb for anything in the future. She wanted to stand on her own two feet; that was her mantra.
Seeing Susan's resolve, Isabella shook her head. "It'd be so nice if your family stayed together, but you insist on breaking apart. Letting go of a rich and handsome guy, what a waste!"
"If you like him so much, go for it. With you as their stepmom, I wouldn't worry about you mistreating Hayden and Spring," Susan said, then got up and headed to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Isabella followed, leaning against the bathroom door frame with her arms crossed. "Do you think I don't want to? Finding a guy like Seb, who's rich, handsome, and charming, plus already has a son and daughter, means I just need to look pretty and don't even have to have kids. But Seb has to be into me first! There are tons of women lining up for him. I've never seen anyone like you, always pushing a guy like Seb away!"
"If you're done with your life advice, could you please take out the kitchen trash? It's about to attract bugs!" Susan mumbled while brushing her teeth.
"Oh, why is my life so tough? I can't even find a guy wanting me," Isabella said, turning to take out the trash.
Halfway through, Isabella came back with a serious tone and said to Susan, "I'm warning you; that scumbag Elliott will definitely cause more trouble. Be ready!" With that, she turned and left.
Susan slowed down her brushing, thinking Isabella was right. After some thought, Susan decided to put a big fruit knife in her bag.
If Elliott tried to mess with her again, she wouldn't hold back!
