Chapter 1231 I Won't Waver
Seeing her anxious expression, a trace of heartache flashed in his eyes.
Then, he reached out and held her helplessly, promising, "Don't worry, I won't waver either. Whether they agree or not in the future, I will marry you and be with you for the rest of our lives!"
Cecilia quickly raised her head and said, "When you go back, don't argue with your mother, and don't mention marriage. After all, a marriage without parents' blessings won't be happy. Let's take it slow."
"I promise you, we can take our time, but I don't want to wait too long. I want to see you every time I open my eyes and have you by my side when I close them." Daryl pulled her back into his arms.
Cecilia placed her hand on his chest and said, "We don't necessarily have to get married. You could just live with me here."
As she said this, Cecilia blushed.
She also wanted to be with him day and night, to see him when she opened her eyes and have him by her side when she closed them.
"Are you suggesting we live together illegally?" Daryl suddenly looked at her in his arms with a teasing expression.
Cecilia met his gaze and said playfully, "It's not like we haven't done that before."
Daryl reached out and stroked her long hair, saying slowly, "Cecilia, I won't live with you without being married. I want us to be together legitimately. That's the greatest respect I can give you."
Cecilia was deeply moved by his words. Then she said, "I was just joking. If you live with me now, your mother will be even more furious. I don't want you and your mother to have any conflicts because of me."
"I understand. Leave my mother to me. You don't need to worry." Daryl lowered his head and kissed her lips twice.
Cecilia smiled and then returned his kiss.
Suddenly, she heard her stomach growl.
"What was that sound?" Daryl frowned and asked.
Cecilia said embarrassedly, "I'm hungry."
"I'll cook some pasta for you."
"Okay."
Cecilia smiled and followed him into the kitchen.
The kitchen was very small, with Daryl and Cecilia standing inside, there was barely enough room to move, but it felt very cozy. Being so close to him made her feel very secure.
Although Daryl came from a wealthy family, his experience studying abroad had made him capable of doing almost anything.
Seeing him skillfully making pasta, Cecilia couldn't help but wrap her arms around his waist from behind.
Feeling her face pressed against his back, Daryl placed one hand on her hand around his waist and said softly, "Doesn't it feel especially happy right now?"
"You're so annoying. How do you know everything?" Cecilia pouted, with a smile on her face.
"I wish I could stay in your mind and know your thoughts at all times." Daryl joked and then started to serve the pasta in a bowl.
A few minutes later, they sat face to face at the dining table, eating the steaming pasta. Outside, the wind was howling, but inside, the house was filled with warmth and a sense of life.
That night, as soon as Daryl stepped into the Fields family villa, he saw Azalea sitting on the sofa watching TV, as if waiting for him.
"You're back?" Azalea glanced at him while watching TV.
"Mom, why are you still up so late?" Daryl walked over and sat down in front of her.
Azalea glanced at him and said, "You know it's late, and you're just getting back."
Seeing her cold expression, Daryl hesitated for a moment and then said, "Mom, did you go see Cecilia today?"
Azalea replied indifferently, "What? Did that bitch complain to you? I knew she was trouble!"
"Mom, her name is Cecilia. It's so unpleasant to hear you call her a bitch." Daryl's voice was filled with helplessness.
Azalea pursed her lips and said nothing more.
"Mom, Cecilia, and I truly love each other. Please don't be prejudiced against her. Cecilia is a very kind and lovely girl. If you could try to get to know her, you would like her." Daryl continued to persuade.
However, Azalea remained steadfast in her opinion. "You don't need to say anymore. I won't get to know someone I don't like, and I certainly won't accept someone I dislike as my daughter-in-law. As I said before, you can have fun outside, but if you want her to enter the Fields family, it's impossible!"
Hearing her firm attitude, Daryl also expressed his stance. "Mom, if you say that, then I have to tell you, I will marry no one but Cecilia!"
Azalea immediately flew into a rage and threw the remote control in her hand to the ground. "Daryl, I'm your mother, and you're defying me for that woman? You're so unfilial!"
After saying this, Azalea clutched her chest.
Daryl quickly stepped forward to support her and said anxiously, "Mom, what's wrong?"
Azalea's face looked terrible. After a long time, she took a deep breath and stared at Daryl, whose face had turned pale with anxiety. "Daryl, I'm doing this for your good. Why won't you listen?"
Daryl had no choice but to say, "Mom, don't be angry. Let's discuss this calmly."
Daryl had intended to assert his will, but faced with this situation, he felt helpless.
Seeing his softened attitude, Azalea also relented. "I know that girl is young and beautiful, and maybe she seems gentle and lovely to you, but you can have fun outside. The one you should marry is someone like Skylar. You need to think about the entire Fields family and our business."
"Mom, I'm not just having fun with Cecilia." Daryl frowned.
Azalea's face darkened. "Let's not talk about this anymore. I'm tired. Help me to my room."
"Yes, Mom." Daryl nodded and then helped Azalea to her room.
For several days, Cecilia was unhappy, but in front of Daryl, she pretended that nothing was wrong, not wanting to affect his mood.
That evening, after dinner, they walked hand in hand along the riverbank.
"Did you enjoy the steak today?" Daryl asked softly.
Cecilia nodded and said, "Of course, it was delicious. You've been taking me out for big meals every day, and I've gained weight!"
