Chapter 27

Amelia's attitude really ticked Isabella off. She pointed to the guidelines on the wall and said, "It’s right here. You need to make an appointment three days in advance for reimbursement. We have a payment plan and a daily spending limit. This is a big company with dozens of reimbursements every day. Without a plan, it would be chaos!"

Amelia's face turned pale with anger. She grabbed the form, shot Isabella a fierce look, and stormed off in her high heels.

After Amelia left, Isabella muttered, "SMH"

Susan was about to comfort Isabella when their colleague Aria approached and said, "Calm down. Amelia has connections. We need to be careful what we say around her, or she might report us."

"What kind of connections?" Isabella asked, exchanging glances with Susan.

"I heard Amelia and Mr. Anderson are alumni. They were even taught by the same professor. Why do you think Mr. Anderson gave all the Prosperity Group's insurance policies to Amelia?" Aria whispered.

"Yeah, I heard that too. Lately, Amelia's been coming to Prosperity Group to see Mr. Anderson every other day. Seems like they have a close relationship," Brooklyn added.

Susan shook her head, thinking, 'Amelia, like Sophia, is everywhere. How can she leverage having the same teacher and claim to be alumni? And what alumni? Amelia barely attended college and reportedly failed many courses.'

Aria sneered. "Selling insurance is probably secondary. Finding a sugar daddy is the real goal."

"Does Mr. Anderson have such poor taste? I don't think there's anything real about Amelia," the female colleagues started mocking.

"Exactly, the line of women wanting to get into Mr. Anderson's bed could stretch to another country."

Usually, Susan would laugh off such comments, but today they made her uncomfortable. Was it because she was now married to Seb?

But Susan knew very well that Seb married her only because of the baby she was carrying. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been a wedding, and they might divorce after the baby was born.

Isabella sneered. "Maybe Mr. Anderson is already married, who knows."

"No way, how do you know?" the female colleagues stared at Isabella.

Isabella exchanged a glance with Susan and quickly said, "I don't know anything. I just think Mr. Anderson is not young anymore, and he's so handsome and wealthy. He might already have a wife."

Isabella winked at Susan, thankful for her quick thinking and not letting anything slip.

"I don't think Mr. Anderson is married."

"I don't think so either. I saw he wasn't wearing a wedding ring the other day."

"Yeah, neither Mr. Anderson's secretary, Ellie Hernandez, nor the company executives have ever mentioned a wife."

The female colleagues could find many reasons to prove Seb wasn't married. Susan bit her lip, thinking, 'If these colleagues knew I was married to Seb, would they surround me on the spot?'

While the female colleagues were daydreaming about Seb, Amelia strutted back in her high heels.

Seeing her, everyone quickly returned to their seats.

Amelia walked up to Isabella, tossed the document on her desk, and said arrogantly, "Mr. Anderson has already noted to process this immediately. Don't talk to me about rules. Mr. Anderson's signature is the rule. Process it now. I have an appointment later!"

Amelia flicked her red-painted nails through her curls, her eyes full of disdain.

Isabella frowned, took the document, and saw that it indeed had a note to process it immediately. She had no choice but to swallow her anger and start processing the payment on her computer.

Susan, sitting nearby, also turned pale with anger. 'Amelia is too arrogant, flaunting her power here.'

But what made her even angrier was Seb. 'How could he be so unprincipled with Amelia? Was it because she was his alum, or did Seb really fancy Amelia? If Seb could have a one-night stand with me, he might not be innocent with Amelia either.'

Thinking of this, Susan felt her blood boiling. Her temper made her want to explode, but she had to keep it in check.

Two minutes later, Isabella handed the document to Amelia. "It's done."

"The money has been transferred? Are you sure the amount is correct? Otherwise, I'll tell Mr. Anderson you were careless," Amelia added provocatively.

"The amount is correct. You won't have a chance to complain," Isabella said, lowering her eyes.

Isabella knew that Amelia was aware of her friendship with Susan. Amelia's provocation was intentional, but since it was work hours, neither Susan nor she could react, fearing they might get fired. Prosperity Group's benefits were quite good.

Susan thought Amelia would leave after getting the money, but Amelia turned and walked over to her.

Susan looked up at Amelia's heavily made-up face.

Amelia smiled down at her, then started mocking. "Didn't you say the father of your baby was the President? The President lets you work so hard for this little money? You should go back and be the First Lady. Oh, I get it, you must be just a fling for the President, right?"

Susan stood up abruptly, pointing at Amelia. "I haven't even settled the score with you for spreading my business around, and now you come to me? Do you need a lesson to shut your mouth?"

"Teach me a lesson? You? Susan, others might not know your situation, but I do. You're just a small employee at Prosperity Group and want to teach me a lesson? Let me tell you, my relationship with Mr. Anderson is not ordinary now. Be careful, or I'll have him fire you," Amelia said viciously.

Amelia's words made Susan laugh out loud.

"What are you laughing at?" Amelia was a bit unnerved by Susan's laughter.

Susan stopped laughing and coldly looked at Amelia. "I'm laughing at your daydreams."

"You want a fight?" Amelia, losing her temper, reached out to slap Susan.

Everyone was shocked, and Isabella quickly ran over.
