Chapter 874 Explosive News

When Susan heard that, she just gave a faint smile.

The castle's scenery was stunning, but it wasn't home.

Early the next morning, Susan and Hugo hit the road, leaving that unforgettable place behind.

At the airport lounge, Susan stood at the boarding gate while Hugo handed her a big bag he had prepped.

"These are snacks and toys for Hayden and Spring," Hugo said, looking a bit sad.

"Thanks a lot." Susan was genuinely touched, not expecting him to bring gifts for her kids he hadn't even met.

Just then, the announcement called for boarding.

Hugo glanced at the boarding area where a few folks were already lining up. "Go on, have a safe trip."

Susan nodded. "Goodbye."

With that, she turned and headed for the gate.

Hugo's deep blue eyes made her feel a pang of guilt, and his sad look tugged at her heart.

"Susan!" Hugo called out just as she took a few steps.

She turned to see him running up to her.

Tall and imposing, Hugo looked down at her and suddenly grinned. "You'll see me again soon."

Susan was puzzled. "What?"

Hugo looked serious. "I'll come to Northstar City to find you soon."

Susan was momentarily speechless, not sure if she should refuse.

But Hugo didn't give her a chance. "Hurry up, or you'll miss your flight."

"Alright." Susan nodded, then turned and walked through the gate.

On the plane, Susan felt like her trip to Zandoria was a dream, a visit to a magical world she'd never forget.

Back in Northstar City, Susan felt a sense of calm wash over her, as if she was finally ready to accept the reality of Seb's remarriage.

As she walked into the villa, Isabella and Cecilia came out to greet her.

"You're finally back. You've been gone for over ten days. Did you tour all of Zandoria?" Isabella exclaimed.

"I needed to clear my head. Had to feel better before coming back, right?" Susan replied with a smile.

Cecilia looked at her. "Yeah, you look much better."

Susan smiled faintly. "Have Hayden and Spring gone to school? Thanks for looking after them."

"Of course, it's our job," Isabella said, rolling her eyes playfully.

"Sit down, have some tea and snacks. Isabella made them this morning," Cecilia said, pouring tea.

"Thanks." Susan sat down, feeling a bit hungry. Seeing her favorite snacks, she started eating ravenously.

Watching her eat, Isabella couldn't help but ask, "Susan, has Seb contacted you?"

Susan looked up, surprised, then smiled bitterly. "Why would he? He's probably enjoying his honeymoon."

Mentioning Seb killed her appetite, and she stopped eating.

Isabella glanced at Cecilia. "You don't know, do you? Seb and Ellie didn't get married."

Susan almost choked on her snack.

Susan stared at Isabella in shock for a moment before asking, "What did you just say?"

She thought she must've misheard, maybe because deep down she didn't want Seb and Ellie to get married.

Isabella nodded. "You heard right. Seb and Ellie didn't get married. The wedding got postponed."

"Why?" Susan asked, furrowing her brows.

She didn't know whether to feel relieved or sad. The wedding was supposed to be a done deal. How could it not happen?

Isabella looked at her. "Because someone had a stroke of bad luck."

"Who? Who had bad luck?" Susan asked urgently.

Isabella fell silent.

Cecilia glanced at Isabella and then said, "It was Leon. Someone reported that he leaked important info from Prosperity Group to a competitor, causing them to lose a major contract. He also allegedly took a huge bribe. Seb kicked Leon out of Prosperity Group a few days ago. Seb didn't press charges out of respect for Leon's years of service, but he did demand the return of the bribe and stripped him of all his positions, cutting all ties."

Hearing this, Susan furrowed her brows and asked urgently, "How do you know all this?"

"It's all over Maple Valley. Dorothy couldn't reach you a few days ago, so she called Isabella. Dorothy told her everything," Cecilia replied.

Susan thought for a moment and then shook her head. "No, this can't be true. Leon would never do something so treacherous. He must've been framed!"

Isabella sneered. "He even wanted to kill his own kid. What wouldn't he do? I think this is just his true nature, only well-hidden before!"

Hearing Isabella's angry tone, Susan earnestly said, "Isabella, Leon is not that kind of person. There must be something wrong here."

Isabella's face darkened. "Whether he is that kind of person or not has nothing to do with me. Whether he's down and out or successful, I will have no further dealings with him."

With that, Isabella slowly got up from the couch, holding her belly, and went to her room.

Isabella was always like this when it came to Leon—either gloating or deeply resentful. But it was understandable. Mentioning Seb now didn't make Susan feel any better either.

"Susan, Isabella is actually very sad. Don't blame her," Cecilia said, looking at Susan.

Hearing this, Susan smiled faintly. "I get it. How could I blame her?"

"By the way, do you know why Seb suddenly postponed his wedding with Ellie?" Susan couldn't help but ask.

Given how solid his relationship with Ellie was, he wouldn't postpone the wedding without a major reason. And Ellie must be furious about not getting married this time.

"There are rumors that it’s all because of the Leon incident. Prosperity Group lost a major investment opportunity, which turned into quite a scandal. Leon is a senior executive at the Prosperity Group, and they say this has had a significant impact on them," Cecilia explained.
