Chapter 407 For Love, One Can Give Up Everything

Catherine shot a look at Henry and Hailey, who were all cozied up together, then leaned in and whispered to Dorothy, "Dorothy, you really wanna end up in jail?"

"Mom, I can't just dump him and let that witch win," Dorothy spat, her eyes burning with hate for Henry and Hailey.

Catherine let out a heavy sigh. "Dorothy, your marriage is toast, and even if it wasn't, it's not worth saving. You gotta let him go and free yourself. Look at you, you're gonna lose it if you keep this up."

"But I..." Dorothy's voice cracked as she started to cry.

From the corner, Susan watched the whole scene, feeling a deep sadness.

Catherine was right; Dorothy couldn't keep going like this. Maybe letting go was the only way out.

But Susan couldn't step in; the gap between her and Dorothy was too wide.

Just then, James walked up to Dorothy and whispered, "Dorothy, your mom's got a point. You can't hold onto a guy like that. Now that he's itching to divorce and marry that witch, use this chance to set some terms. Make him give you all the property, and don't take the kid. Let him deal with Amanda!"

Susan's blood boiled at James. He was the most selfish jerk, always looking out for number one, never caring about anyone else, not even his own family.

Too bad he ran into someone even worse, Sophia and Amelia. They used him up and tossed him aside, leaving James broke and homeless!

Dorothy thought for a second, then marched right up to Henry and said, "Fine, I agree to the divorce!"

Henry looked shocked for a moment, then a relieved smile spread across his face.

Catherine and Susan both let out a breath; Dorothy had finally seen the light.

But James yelled, "Dorothy, don't let that jerk off easy!"

Dorothy lifted her chin and said, "But I've given you the best years of my life and a daughter. Now I'm divorced, and it's gonna be tough to find someone else, so you gotta compensate me!"

Henry didn't even blink and nodded. "Dorothy, I've done you wrong in so many ways. Whatever you want, just name it. If I can do it, I will."

Dorothy smirked. "Don't be so quick to agree; you might regret it."

"Go on," Henry's eyes locked onto Dorothy.

Dorothy then said, "I want the house we're living in now, with all the stuff inside."

Susan and Catherine's faces tightened.

Henry's house was smack in the middle of Maple Valley, in a fancy neighborhood, and it was huge. The decor, furniture, and appliances were all top-notch, so the place was easily worth over $800,000.

Plus, Henry's parents had bought the house years ago. Dorothy hadn't chipped in a dime, and they'd only been married a few years. Asking for the house was a big ask.

Just when Susan and Catherine thought Henry would balk, Henry nodded without a second thought and said, "Okay, I agree."

When Henry agreed, Catherine and Susan were floored, and even Dorothy looked shocked. She probably didn't think he'd cave so easily.

Then Dorothy snapped, "I don't have a job, and my health's crap. I want $100,000 in alimony!"

Susan's face tightened.

Honestly, Dorothy was pushing it. Henry had already agreed to give her the house his parents bought, and now she wanted a ton of cash. Henry had been footing the bill for Dorothy and Amanda for years, and he didn't have much saved up.

"Dorothy, that's enough," Catherine stepped in to try and calm her down.

But James yelled, "Just $100,000, not a penny less!"

Catherine shot James a look that could kill, telling him to shut up.

Dorothy sneered. "One hundred grand, and it has to be in cash. If it's a penny less, no divorce."

She stared at Henry, waiting for his reaction.

Henry glanced at Hailey and asked, "Hailey, my finances are gonna be tight..."

Hailey cut him off, "I'll help you pay off the debt!"

Hearing that, Henry smiled, feeling a surge of confidence. He looked back at Dorothy and said, "Alright, I agree. I'll get $100,000 in cash within three days!"

Dorothy, fuming, clenched her fists and said, "Henry, you're something else. No matter what you lose, you still wanna divorce me, huh?"

"What's the point of this now? Dorothy, I'm just begging you to let me go," Henry's eyes were cold, devoid of any affection for Dorothy.

If he had felt any guilt before, it vanished when he had to give up everything and even go into debt. He no longer felt any guilt towards her.

Susan realized that Dorothy's demands had wiped out any guilt Henry had. After giving up all this, Henry wouldn't owe Dorothy anything and would feel free.

As for Hailey, Susan suddenly respected her. She was willing to give up everything for love, even helping Henry pay off his ex-wife's debt, showing she truly loved him.

"Yeah, there's no point in dragging this out. My final condition is that Amanda stays with you, and I won't ask for child support. Agree to these three conditions, and once the money's in place, I'll go to court with you to finalize the divorce," Dorothy's eyes were filled with hatred as she glared at Henry and Hailey, her gaze chilling.

"Okay, I agree," Henry nodded without hesitation.

"Dorothy, how can you just leave Amanda?" Catherine was shocked and looked at Dorothy.

"Mom, stay out of my business!" Dorothy snapped.

Susan didn't expect Dorothy to give up Amanda, and she frowned.

Susan could see that Dorothy's harsh conditions were just a way to avoid divorcing Henry. As long as Henry didn't agree, they wouldn't have to divorce. But she didn't expect Henry to agree to everything, showing how desperate he was to be free.

"Fine, I'll wait for you to transfer the money," Dorothy said, then turned and strutted away in her high heels.

"Dorothy!" Catherine was scared Dorothy might do something crazy and quickly followed her.

"Wait up," James also followed.
