Chapter 1168 Shameless

Under Daryl's gaze, Cecilia left with her shoes in hand.

She didn't want to have any more entanglements with him, so she had to take all her belongings to avoid him using the excuse of returning her shoes to appear in front of her again.

"Mr. Fields, this..." After Cecilia left, Douglas brought the shoe box to Daryl.

Glancing at the money in the shoe box, Daryl inadvertently noticed a few flyers scattered on the bench, which Cecilia had distributed to various boutiques to advertise for Vogue Vista.

Daryl frowned, then bent down and put the flyers into his pocket.

Early the next morning, Cecilia went downstairs with her bag.

Spending two thousand dollars on a pair of sneakers really pained Cecilia, but there was no other way. Yesterday, if she hadn't worn those sneakers back, her feet would have been ruined, and she didn't want to take any more advantage of Daryl.

Although Cecilia believed that she had completely moved on from her relationship with Daryl over the past six months, her heart was still stirred when he appeared in front of her again.

However, she was prepared to restrain herself and would not be influenced by Daryl again.

Most mornings, Cecilia would go downstairs to queue for breakfast to eat on the way, but today she might have come down a bit late. There was a long line in front of the breakfast shop, with about a dozen people.

Cecilia looked at her watch and frowned, thinking, 'It seems I won't be able to get breakfast today; I'll have to eat some cookies at the office to fill my stomach.'
Cecilia was just about to step forward to catch the bus when suddenly, a figure appeared in front of her.

Daryl held up the breakfast in his hand with a cheerful smile.

Cecilia looked at Daryl and the breakfast in his hands, remaining unfazed.

Seeing Cecilia looking at him coldly, Daryl raised the breakfast in his hand closer to her and said, "I stood in line for a long time to get this. You can eat it on the way."

Cecilia stared at the breakfast in his hand for a moment, feeling speechless.

Then, Daryl turned to look at the car behind him and said, "Or I can give you a ride to work."

At this point, Cecilia couldn't bear it anymore and remarked, "Daryl, what are you doing? What do you want?"

Sensing the anger in Cecilia's eyes, Daryl sincerely said, "Cecilia, I just want to care for you."

Cecilia sneered. "Daryl, I don't need your care. Save it for someone else!"

After saying that, she stepped forward to walk past Daryl.

Seeing Cecilia's refusal, Daryl frowned and grabbed her arm as she walked past him.

"Cecilia, can you give me a few minutes to talk?" Daryl frowned at Cecilia.

"I have nothing to talk to you about." Cecilia frowned.

At this point, Daryl took a flyer from his pocket and held it in front of Cecilia, saying, "What if I want to talk about advertising?"

Seeing the flyer in Daryl's hand, which she had distributed for Vogue Vista yesterday, Cecilia was stunned.

Then, Cecilia remembered that Daryl must have picked up the flyer from the bench yesterday.

At this point, Daryl continued, "I have a few friends in the mall who might want to promote their products. I can introduce them to you."

Hearing this, Cecilia shook off Daryl's hand and firmly refused. "Sorry, I don't want to cooperate with you!"

After saying that, Cecilia turned and left.

The more Cecilia walked, the angrier she became.

She cursed in her head, 'Daryl has completely ruined my good mood for the day.'

At this moment, someone called out to Cecilia from behind, "Ms. Thorne!"

Cecilia turned around and saw Douglas running over, out of breath.

Cecilia frowned, and when Douglas reached her, he handed her something. "Ms. Thorne, breakfast!"

Looking at the item in Douglas' hand, Cecilia said, "Sorry, I won't take anything from Daryl."

Hearing this, Douglas pleaded with a frown, "Ms. Thorne, I'm just following Mr. Fields' orders. Please don't make it difficult for me. If you don't take it, I will be in trouble."

"That's your problem." Cecilia didn't want to make things difficult for Douglas, but she had to stick to her principles. Not wanting to see Douglas in a difficult position, she turned and walked away.

Seeing Cecilia leave, Douglas was at a loss and quickly chased after her.

"Ms. Thorne, it's just breakfast. Please take it. Don't let me get fired over this!" Douglas pleaded pitifully.

Hearing this, Cecilia sneered. "Douglas, you're too modest. You're Daryl's right-hand man; he wouldn't fire you."

At this point, Douglas said awkwardly, "Ms. Thorne, getting fired might be an exaggeration, but I'll definitely get scolded. I work for Mr. Fields, after all. Please understand?"

Douglas was practically begging at this point.

Honestly, when they were in Northstar City, Douglas had helped her a lot. Cecilia didn't want to embarrass him, but she didn't want to accept anything from Daryl either.

Sensing Cecilia's dilemma, Douglas quickly said, "This breakfast costs six dollars. How about you pay Mr. Fields for it?"

Hearing this, Cecilia thought it was a good idea. She could solve her breakfast problem without owing Daryl anything and let Douglas off the hook.

The next moment, Cecilia took out a ten-dollar bill from her wallet and handed it to Douglas, saying, "Keep the change as a tip for Daryl!"

"Okay." Douglas nodded happily and quickly handed over the breakfast.

Cecilia took the breakfast from Douglas and then headed to the bus stop.

On the bus, Cecilia sat by the window, opened the lunchbox, and took a bite of the waffle.

The delicious waffle was so good, but thinking about Daryl's face made her particularly annoyed.

Then, Cecilia took several more bites of the waffle, chewing forcefully as if the waffle were Daryl, which made her feel particularly satisfied.

The milk was also delicious. Cecilia finished her breakfast on the bus.

A while later, Cecilia, feeling full, went to work.
